I have SimCity 4, original, in Portuguese (Brazilian), installed and fully functional... But during the installation (SC4 Rush Hour, original and also in Portuguese), when copying the file "simcity_2.dat" (between 5% and 10%) I get an error message:

"Unable to locate required file or required file is corrupted."

The CD is perfect, no scratchings, burnings or deformations... I've even tried to install in Safe Mode, purchased a new one, but I'm still getting the same problem... It's not the best of the computers, but here it is:

OS: Windows XP Professional (SP2) updated

    Memory: 1 GB RAM

    Hard Disk: 80 GB Parallel ATA (C:\ = Win XP; D:\ = Win Vista; E:\ = Backups)

    Processor: AMD Sempron 3000 - 2.0 GHz

Video: XFX nVidia GeForce FX 5200, 128 MB (latest drivers, fully functional)

    DirectX 9.0

What must I do? ?Any tips??

Your system is OK.  Make sure it is DirectX 9.0c, then uninstall the game completely.  do a disk cleanup, and a defragmentatioin run, then reinstall.  If that doesn't work, return your RH for a refund and get a copy of deluxe.

yes, it's DirectX 9.0c (released in December)... and I already tried to uninstall completely, I even reinstalled Win XP without SP2... but OK, looking for a solution, I found a program (IsoPuzzle 1.2)... it creates an ISO image of the disk, correcting corrupted files... I'm trying this solution right now...

    tks for the answer!!
