ANT

I've had the ANT (or so I thought) installed for quite some time. It's been so long that I can't remember if it came with the NAM or if it was seperate. I know I got it from here. At the time, I did a lot of searching for topics and found the whole thing so confusing and vague that I put off doing anything with it.
Yesterday, I decided my project was going to do some ANT experimenting. I clicked on the ANT icon and got a road. I wnet to tab down, figuring there was more, but that was it. I started drawing the road and it didn't appear to be any different from the usual road.
Am I missing a critical piece of the ANT or is that it? I don't really understand what it's supposed to do or what it's supposed to contain. If I am missing something, could somebody please direct me to whatever pieces may be missing? If there is a way of scrolling other than tabbing, maybe that's it. And if there is anywhere that might give a good explaination of what's in it, what it is and how to use it, that would help greatly. I tried searching, but couldn't find much to clarify things for me. I'm still scratching my head about it.
BTW, I looked in my plug-in folder to see if there was something that looked like it would be the ANT. I couldn't find anything that looked like it could be it, but obviously, SOMETHING is making the road icon appear.

Thank you for any enlightenment! I'm definitely in the dark here.

Hi Doc!

The way the ANT is in the current version of NAM it is a two-lane highway that looks like the road.

Like highways, the commute speed is higher than on roads (80 km/h on ANT, 31 km/h on roads). You did get the network speeds in another thread you started. 2.gif

Like highwyas, no development will appear along it (no lots can face the ANT to get road access).

Also, the ANT has can be heavily modified, and thats where you get the Rural Highway or similar.

Your NAM folder should contain a file called "NetworkAddonMod_ANT_Plugin_Beta.dat".

Ah! Many thanks to you both, RippleJet and Frigid! I learned more from your two posts than I did from all of the threads I was able to search and find.

When I downloaded the NAM, I didn't get an ANT file. It doesn't show up in the game. I looked in the NAM file and there was no ANT file. Can someone please help. Is my file flawed?

If you have a PC, the ANT is an installation option.  If you have a MAC, it should be there.
