Grid and radius problems!

Well... I have patched SC4 and I cannot see the grid when I push G. Also, any radius that surrounds a building (police crime coverage radius). When I press G for the grid, I get these weird yellow bands going all over the map and such. I'll post a screenie of it.

CPU: 2.8GHz Pentium 4 with HT

RAM: 1GB Corsair

GPU: ATi Radeon X600

PS: I have changed my ingame graphics options after updating... I am SOOO confused!

PPS: Also, about the crappy(ish) image quality... it is a JPEG. Also, that is when I hold down the G button. Help!

plz don't bump a thread. it will be answered eventually.

try running the game in software mode and see what happens. this may improve the speed of the game, but will make the graphics look terrible.

i think this is the infamous ATI driver bug issue, that plagues this game. it hates ATI cards for some reason.

Actually, I just did that a moment before I checked this. The graphics weren't so great, and it ran rather crappily. But! No graphical issues! Things ran fine. So now I am wondering... what drivers should I use? I use the ATi Catalyst 5.8 for now... what should I use? I wanna build a city!

I always thought G for Grid only worked in Mayor Mode.  If you get yellow contours, that is the elevation option from CTRL+C.

Either way that is what it did. However, I have recently installed the 5.14 Catalyst drivers. Guess what? SAME DAMN THING! I'm at my wits end here. I've played this game before, and it seems that no matter what I do, I get the same issues. Help please!!

EDIT: That was in mayor mode. I just cut the image down so there was no HUD and it wouldn't be so big.

if all is ok when running in software mode, use this untill u figure out what driver to use. so it definitley is your GFX card.

there is no real answer on what driver to use, except to try them all. it's a pain in the ass i know, but is the only thing i can think of.

check the forums for catalyst, u might find what u we're looking for. not sure though
