    Hi,
I would like to use some textures used for lots which I downloaded from STEX, and change them a little bit for my owm lots, certainly would ask creator of lots first for permission. How can I extract a texture file form a LOT file and work on it in a paint program? Can anybody help me please?

    thanks
    Husinho

Well, by default, a lot file doesn't contain any textures, but only the texture IDs in the lot exemplar file. But it might be the case that the developer has placed the FSH files within the lot file (maybe labeled as *.dat afterwards). If that's the case, you can access those files with the Reader or SC4Tool. SC4Tool allows you to save them as BMP file, so you can edit them to your desire, and create new textures from those files later. Please refer to the included readme file for a short overview about the process. Also, make sure to request an ID range at the BSC forums. You can also use FiSHMan, available in the "Mods & Downloads" section as well. It's not that straightforward than SC4Tool, but it might help in special cases, where SC4Tool isn't capable of all peculiarities. For general information about textures, and how the ID system works, please refer to the BSC Texture Index thread, and maybe there are some additional threads about textures (I never dealt with them, so I can't help you, unfortunately).
