Hi , i started a region several months ago in Simcity vanilla, after building many cities i updated to Rush Hour and continued playing there without major problems. In one of my most important cities (about 200.000R), i was very dissatisfied with it and after gathering a lot of money i simply destroyed the city completely (not obliterated, i demolished everything it was builded) and rebuilded a new city design with comercial and residencial zones but when i unpause the game and wait for the buildings or houses there is some Commercial demand and commercial buildings emerge but the Residencial Demands stands at 0, it´s neither negative nor positiv it simply seems to not exist at all and there´s not a single house constructed after a few years of play, i lowered taxes for residencials, watched that hospitals, schools and of course water and energy were OK, but nothing, not a single house comes to my city, What is this? is it some kind of bug or what am I doing wrong? Please help because this city is very important Thanx!!

Hi crazychickens ! Thanx for your quick reply!, Yes i have demand for industry anc commerce, i tried zoning some industry and letting industry build but no residence demand came, the problem is not jobs because this city is placed in contact with 3 big industry cities with lots of hightech jobs and one big commercial city with lots of huge commerce complexes, the problem is that there´s simply no residence demand, there is no single green bar in the RCI demand graphic, there is no negative demand neither although residence demand should be very high considering all the jobs and all the good infrastructure, i also checked if this is an issue affecting all of my cities but no, this only happens in this city after having demolished it

Welcome, Flash110! It could be that you've hit a demand cap or that your desirability is low. Have you checked this? You can address both issues by building some parks or recreational facilities or by plopping a landmark or two. Also, be sure your transportation network is adequate to move the simps and keep the commute times low. (Nice feature with RH/Deluxe is that you can now check things like this!) Since you had a coupla hundred thousand in your Vanilla city that was going strong, you obviously have a pretty good feel for what makes a city grow and prosper. Another thing you might want to consider is playing your city as part of a region if you're not already. This can make a dramatic difference. Start a new city on a tile closest to your residential areas and put in some industrial zones near the edge. Make a good road/avenue/highway/whatever connection and the new city will probably start pulling some of your workers. Make sure you have enough residential zoned in your original city to accommodate enough residents to fill the jobs in both cities. This combined with increased desirability and demand cap relief should get you up and running in no time! As a side note, I wouldn't mess with the taxes too much. This can cause more headaches down the road. Just be sure that the taxes in both cities are close, if not the same, of you'll have wholesale abandonment as everyone flees to the city with the lower taxes. Good luck, and keep us posted!

HI!, thanx for your welcome and for your reply. I tried building parks and after building several of them residencial demand finally jumped dramatically but i noticed that this was  not normal neither because when i demolished some parks the demand went away again. Desirability was not an issue since it was very high all over the city, jobs weren´t a problem neither since my city was in fact placed in the center of other cities with lots of hightec and commercial jobs. I tried everything to normalize the R demand and the only thing that worked was building lots, but lots of parks and even then the demand was too unstable and i didn´t want to have so many parks neither. I finally gave up i think that city developed some kind of bug. Fortunately i had made a copy of all of my cities some months ago and i recharged that city. I had to start some hundred years back but at least i keeped the terraforming. Regards!

umm, i think thats normal because parks are demand cap relievers, if you demolish them, the demand cap will be lower.

Well, Flash, I'm glad you were able to get some kind of a resolution for your city. Coolotter is right, though...if you demolish the parks and the original issue was caused because of demand caps, then you might be back in the same boat. In case you don't have it, check out the mod that shows the demand caps when you query a building. It's an excellent tool that can help you to analyse and assess the demand caps. If you see you've hit, say, 99% of your R$$ limit, then build parks, throw in a few landmarks, a ballpark, whatever it takes. (Just using R$$ as an example. You can address whatever needs to be relieved.) If you see that you HAVEN'T hit any cap limits, then you can look at what else may be going on and work from that end. But at least the mod will give you some good info that can help you narrow down what you're looking for.

I think you  would have been better served to forget the treasury and wipe the city out with the obliterate function (Ctrl+O).  The landscape is preserved, but everything else is reset.  You will have to reforest as needed.
