    Typical Irish suburbs:

    Killiney (Suburb of Dublin)

    Blackrock (Dublin)

Most suburbs of major cities in Ireland used to be separate towns/villages. This is clearly seen here as most suburbs have their own "main street" with shops/bars/restaurants/etc...

    Some Victorian/Georgian suburbs of Dublin.

Yes, even Ireland is not immune to giant out-of-town shopping centres (malls). The one above is the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Dublin.31.gif

Daily life for people in many suburbs... Rush hour traffic... (N4 road in Lucan, another suburb of Dublin). 28.gif

    Suburbs - Green area.

City Centre - Built up area.

Surprisingly, this IS a suburb (Tallaght, Dublin).

Business parks are very common in suburban areas. This is East Point Business Park in Dublin.

Like most other countries, stadiums/sporting facilities/etc.. are in Irish suburbs. The on above is Croke Park, the fourth biggest in Europe. The Grand Canal is also visible here. This is in the inner-suburbs.

Standard life for most people in suburbs... Commuting...2.gif

Parks are very common in most suburbs.

Suburban sprawl is clearly evident in this satellite phot of Dublin. Around 1.6 million people live in the area pictured.

And finally, a suburb from above. I'd say this was built anytime from the 1980's onwards (due to the way the roads are in "blocks"). This is in Cork, Ireland's third largest city.

One thing (that's good) about suburbs here is that there are many facilities close to almost every neighbourhood (shops/schools/parks/etc..) and you don't need to drive for ages to find them (unlike in some American cities...3.gif), in fact you don't need to drive at all in nearly every case. Suburbs in cities here are also very well served by public transport (buses, mostly, except in Dublin where there is suburban rail, light rail and buses).

That American suburb looks midwest, like Kansas City or something. Here's what they look like in the east:suburbrr4.jpg

I couldn't get a more zoomed out image that showed more detail. But that's what they look like on the east coast.
