My Game when playing it will sometimes minimise itself and then exit SC4 leaving you with the desktop. Coud you post a in detph anser.

Firstly check the minimum requirements. The manual will tell you how to do it.

Also, don't forget the computer 'housekeeping' tasks.

Crashes to the desktop are common with newer users, and there are many solutions depending on circumstances.  Try either looking though this section or searching for the word "Crash" and "Desktop".
