Is it possible to make a mod that puts your city in stage 1 or 2 for a long time? I use big tiles for cities, and it seems more useful to leave it in Stage 1 or 2 then cover the whole map with low density at first. Is this possible to make such a mod?

    sorry for the n00bish request

I don't zone medium until i do that, but still the game gets to stage 3 or 4 and medium wealth houses appear, which since they have no jobs, quickly become abandoned, besides in the end, medium density ruins cities

I have the same problem with high-wealth residential, so here's what I've been doing to combat it. First off, when the city is young, I turn their tax rate up to about 10.5 or 11. When I zone for low-density housing, I fix the areas so that the 3x3 lots simply can't build. Then when I do want some high-wealth housing, I zone very specific spots with lot sizes that can evolve into the large estates, then I start bringing down the tax rate very slowly. You'd be surprised at just how high of taxes rich sims will pay just to get a foothold in your city. Even with 9.5-10% tax rate, the demand starts creeping up and the lots start filling.

Pay careful attention, though, if you've zoned for medium residential, because they'll sneak into those areas and build the 2x2 (or larger) fancy houses. If they develop the no job zots (which is rarely happening with this method) I just doze the building and more often than not, a lower wealth will be built.

Mystrelia is correct. I've had similar prolems with Med density R$$$ in med and small tiles. I took the idea from another simtropolis member. Ramp the taxes up and that should control your abandonment issues.
