City doesnt load....

While i was extending my highway toward an airport.  I accidentally built part of the highway on to the airport causing the airport to be bulldozed.  Unfortunately the airport structure (builidings) still remained --> the ground textures dissappeared.  After numberous attempts to buildoze the remaining structure (collapsing animation would play, but the building was still there) I tried the query-tool ....  The query reported that the airport has no effiencicy, blank "maximum passengers", blank "usage", 0 monthly cost.<br /><br />--> i promptly exited to region... and tried reloading the city.  (the thumbnail is still there) but the city doesnt load.  after afew seconds on the loading screen, the game would exit out to windows...<br /><br />--> the file is most likely corrupted.  is there a way to recover my city, possibly open the .SC4 file to delete the airport from being there?<br /><br />---> if asked... i can give a link to the file<br /><br />---------------<br /><br />thanks,<br />BankBen

Which airport pack are you using?

I did not have any airport mods installed... i have only used NAM and a few mods involving the autonoma... although i think i was using one of the NAM highway puzzle-pieces when i accidentially paved over the airport.<br /><br />would i be able to recover the city if i could edit the .SC4 file somehow?<br /><br />Thanks for you quick response,<br /><br />BankBen

Is there a program that allows me to edit my city.... much like Sim City 2000 had their city editor.  I would be looking remove the airport, or highway puzzle piece; which i believe causes my city to fail to load.          Help would be greatly appreciated.    Thanks, BankBen

It can't be done. To my knowlege at least. I have been in a similar quagmire as you and the gam would crash evertime until i deleted the city from region view and started over. even obliverate city wouldn't work. well it would you can play but then when you reeneter the city it would crash. Check the exception reports it may pertain to some cluies as to why it crashed.
