London is much more of a world city-You go to paris and you think of museums, good food, great architecture-But when you go to london you think of rows of terraces, nightlife, culture, bars, restuaunts, china town, theatres and so on.If any one told me to pack my bags and leave london or i would get killed,i wouldn't.Thats how much i love London.Serebii66:I don't quite understan what you meen 4.gif

Good lord I cant belive I haven't replied here!

Well London is my favourite city since one- I live(d) there

two- Ever walk down through piccadilly circus at night? Its like nobody here sleeps. (or perhaps its just the tourists 3.gif)

also jayo- meseums good food and architecture, we have all of it too!

Nothing better for me than sitting down at a good pub and ordering the most famous stereotype of english food..fish and chips!

And c'mon, we got

St. Paul's

Hyde Park

One of the greenest cities if not the most on the planet

Stunning suburbs

Famous educational instutions

and other things too!

One thing I like more about Paris is how they built all the modern things outside the city centre to preserve the Hausmann buildings....it wouldve been nice if we had done that...all the modern buildings dont look bad, except theres places where nothing of the old london remains in sight.

Paris of course. Why? It's more sexier than grimmy London. London = 17-years old chav, Paris = hot 25-years old woman.

kongars arent you that chav who's always spamming the stex comments with innaccurate critisism?

well, I guess you could say Paris is more famous for tourists because its always Paris this and Paris that and whenever theres talk of London its always about the gloom and boringness and whatnot. And sure Paris is nice but i'd rather be in London.

Funny how people are too emotious towards a city and you londoners say that there are any aggressive chavs. Well there seems to be few..

Are you kidding?  The rings are so well done and symetrical; it must've took at least 6 minutes! 3.gif

BTW; Callbat, thanks for answering my question.2.gif

Yoshi- Sure mate 9.gif

Yeah the new logo is crap, the one I posted is a lot better, whoever made the current logo obviously has no good taste.

It's like the logo of a kid's show on television for Christ's sake!

To be honest there is more gangsta in Paris than in London.

Paris has the largest rap scene in Europe (annd France has the second rap scene in the world)

Paris transportation is superior for one reason.  9.gif

London crossrail is approuved but in Paris crossrail (RER) has 30 years old with some problem of overcrowding

I like france rather than england because it has a nicer beaches than england. But we are talking about the capital, not the country so I vote for london, which is my favorite city after KL.

everybody think that paris is old, not clean, not modern and is far in everything from london!! i will prove the contrary!!!

1st part: the subway: we have an automatic line without conductor and the RATP (the society of transports of paris) projects to make the same thing for the all lines

station-olympiades-metro-14.jpg

The paris'subway is bigger than the london underground ( we have 365 stations where as london just have280)!!!!!

this photo show a lot a people on the platform who are waiting for the commuter train!!! it's normal it the busiest commuter line ( line A) of the world!!!!!!!!!

[Keep all images within the 800 x 600 pixel limit] Marc

foule_rer.jpg

since few months we have a tramway line!!! what do you think about it?

75_tramway.jpg

in paris we are ecologic!! our bus run with electricty or hydrogen

France-Paris-Bus-RATP-4.jpg

we have also the velib: the parisians can let cycle for jsut 1 euro

velib-3dd.jpg

second part the modernism of paris

the mayor of paris projects to build towers in the capital (ther 11 projects)

diapo_barthelemy.jpg

diapo_michelin.jpg

in the same time we still have the montparnasse tower ( 209 meters and 56 floors)

9tourmontparnasseus6.png

we have the richest region of europe and the biggest downtown of europe: la défense located at 3 kilometerrs at teh west of paris

800px-Defense10.jpg

800px-Ladefensepartienord.jpg

450px-Tourtotal.jpg

and in 2012 we will have in the defense's quarter 3 towers of 300 meters of high

Personally I think I would have to live in Paris to find out which is better. Living there and looking at some pictures/ visiting for a few days are obviously going to be completely different experiences.

This tower is planned for Warsaw not Paris. 2.gif
And the RER A is not the busiest line in the world (Some lines in Tokyo, Moscow, Mumbai carrying more passengers), but it is the busiest in Europe.

The Chrismass picture in the Champ Elysee  is old the new one is a lot better but less photogenic.

It's all about the London Underground

IMG_1066cropped.jpg

Damp, Smelly, and bad service, but still the grandfather of all metro's.

England was the first industrialised nation in history!

Hehe...that pic reminds me of Toronto's TTC subway.

Personally, I'd go for London because it just appeals to me more.

I feel London is better for many different reasons:

- London is huge - with around 7 to 8 million residents in the city and a whopping 12 to 14 million in the metro area, and over 300 languages spoken in the city. I've visited London recently, and walking in the streets amongst the people was a wonderful thing to hear - loads of people speaking in different languages.

- There is no architectural style associated with London, as there are too many. Ranging from the Victorian and Edwardian style buildings such as St Pancras to modern styles such as the famous "Gherkin", City Hall and One Canada Square. The way how older buildings are mixed with newer ones creates a great skyline.

- The next few years, especially 2008, will be a golden age for London, with Shard London Bridge, the Bishopsgate Tower, the Riverside South Towers to name a few expecting construction.

- When you think of London, you think of Tower Bridge, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliment, the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square...sorry, I could go on and on.4.gif The city boasts a huge number of internationally recognised landmarks.

- London has been around for at least two millennia, and has a rich, plentiful history from the Romans to the Rennaisance to being one of the forerunners of the Industrial Revolution (begun by Manchester in the north). The city has also been through plague, civil war, fire, extensive bombings in the Blitz and terrorist attacks, yet it is still standing.

- Transport is a big thing in London. Of course we all know about the Tube - the subway system is the world's first metro system. Of course, there is still the recognisable buses and black taxi cabs. Heathrow Airport is the busiest in the world in terms of international passengers.

- Where would music be without London? Many big bands originate in the city, some notables being Iron Maiden, DragonForce, The Clash, Led Zeppelin, Sex Pistols, Queen, The Who and the Rolling Stones.

- And then there is the London Olympics in 2012, being the first city to host the Games three times. I hope to be watching in London, as my friend is well on the road to compete in swimming by then.

- There are 5 Premiere League football teams in London (but Manchester United is better...2.gif). And let's not forget the good ol' Wembley Stadium, the old "Twin Towers" especially, as it has been the site of a very important event in 1966. What a year!

This isn't all the good points of course. But all this, and a certain acquaintance of mine hates London because it is "too busy".17.gif
