Ok, I started a new city a few days ago and decided that I didn't want my industries in te same city. I devloped a tile of just ID and IM. The tile was fully developed and I had about 15-2k jobs. Whne my city got to around 40k I noticed no job signs over my R§. When my R§§§ started to develop tall apartments the no job signs started to come over them. I checked my commercial jobs and found that I had 15-17k(000). Most of them were CS§ CS§§ CS§§§ and a bit of CO§§ and some CO§§§. I rezoned my density from low to high or meduim to high and got alot more CO§§§ but still had the dumb no job sign. Most of the builidings went abonded and I lost 5,000 people(very annoying). I found I had I-HT demand and I put some in and got 2,000 jobs from them and still No-Job Sign over the R§§§. I went into my industrial city and aloowed for more development and got a little more I-D and alot of I-M. I went back to my city and waited and I still got no job signs over most R§ and most R§§§ apartments. My traffic flow is good, I have a rail line and a main avenue running through teh city. Iv'e tried everything, If you can help me it will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks 48.gif(Sorry for typos)

Sorry, but the only thing that comes to mind is transportation - specifically, commute time.

    1) How high are your commute times?

    2) Do you have any transportation mod installed? I used to have trouble with the "no jobs" icon too until I installed the transportation mod. Now it's just a matter of providing enough jobs close enough for my sims to get to work.

Some things I've learned: you probably want to mix some I-HT in with your residential. Also, make a "core" of CO$$$ in the middle of your residential area. As your population grows you will get some huge buildings that offer a ton of close jobs for your sims. Finally, pay for the "commuter shuttle" city ordinance. It will really help get sims off the roads and onto your faster transit system. Try some of these options and let us know.
