SC4 Tool Save Problem

I've been using the SC4 Tool for a couple days now, messing around with changing plop costs and occupancy numbers and all has been fine. Last nite I noticed extra files added to the same folder of the building I was changing. The new files are SAV Files and it says that they should be opened with Half Life 2 which is also on my computer. Any ideas why it quit saving changes to the same file and instead made a new SAV File? The orignal lot file is still there with the .SC4lot extension and the changes seem to have taken affect in that file so I've just been deleting the extra file that gets added.

    Hi,

The SAV files are backups of the original version prior to editing. To get rid of that feature, Click Options, go to Program, click the Common Settings tab, and uncheck the box that says 'create backup file'. Finally, click on that floppy disk icon (save) and those SAV files generated by the tool will be toast.

    Enjoy!

    That did the trick. Thanks.

As Constantina said, the .SAV files are backup files of the SC4Tool. The changes you make are saved at the .SC4Lot file while the previous version is backuped at the .SAV file. The problem is that the .SAV files are normal datfiles as well and SC4 reads them at load time. This can cause conflicts between the two files. So you should always delete the .SAV files before testing or lotmaking (or move them to another folder, not under your Plugins folder). You should also never upload .SAV files on the STEX.
