Problems with Dependency Files

I am having some problems with dependecy files. Several of the lots I have downloaded from the STEX does not appear the same way in the game as they do on the pictures provided in the download or on the STEX. This is especially for lots containing many 'outdoor' I reckon it would seem, and the problem is that items appear to be missing from the lot, e.g. cars, trees, textures, boxes etc. Why can this be?

I guess that it has something to do with dependency files. Could it be that I am missing one or more required dependency file(s)? However, I don't have any large boxes in my city, I though that those appear when there are dependency files missing? Since I don't have any, can I assume that I have all dependency files I need for the lots in my city?

Could there be something else wrong with my lots?

Sorry if this seems like truly newbie questions, just that I never seem to figure out everything with depenency files and all. E.g. how can I see the difference between a dependency file and a lot file? What is the difference between lots and bats?

It sounds like you're missing a few prop files. For instance, if you don't see flowers on the lot, then you're missing the dependency that contains the flowers. Make sure you read the readme text or HTML file and download everything listed in there, otherwise if it's not listed, you'll have to email the person who created it (which is annoying).

You must have entered the world of BSC lots. Fantastic looking, but a horrible amount of dependencies! Some of the lots are simply not worth downloading, due to all the dependencies. But others are fairly manageable, especially if you've already downloaded the "Mega" prop packs. Simgoober tends to stick to his own set of plugins, so most of his lots have a reasonable amount of dependencies.

Welcome to the world of dependencies, the world that holds one of the only problems with simcity archatectual creations.

Sometimes the users that create the BAts etc arae nice. Sometimes they give you links to the dependencies. Some of them are mean and they don't, and some of them are in the middle, and don't give you links, but do give you the names. Then there are the very nice people who are sure to create files with no dependencies, and the super nice people who include the dependencies in the download.

Anyway, if you don't download the dependencies, you won't have the props that are needed if you want that download the be proper. If you don't have the dependencies, the building will show up as a box. Anyway, DOWNLOAD THE DEPENDENCIES!!!!!!!!!
