i need help rendering maps

Hi, ive been tryin to upload maps onto my game and for some reason when i click the jpg. file nothing happens, i need to know wht im doin wrongo!!  i searched the forums for maps and the topics ive found had the same problem as me and there was no anwser

Is your map the first alphabetically in the Regions folder? If so, it won't render because of a strange bug within the game so make an Empty Folder in your Regions folder called "AAA" as this will then be the first alphabetically. Then try rendering the map again and it might work.

the map i'm trying to upload is that oasis springs map and it says it was rendered with THL Desert Terrain Mods [red scrubby desert] and i tried to find it on the stex but its not there so where can i find the mod???

you don't really need that mod to "render" the map but for it to look like desert you do, 

so here is where you can get the THL Terrain Pack, and the desert pack it was based on can be downloaded here Teirusu Desert Mod , remember to use one and only one of these mods and be sure to follow the readmes included.

thanks and when they say make a folder for ur new region, do i upload the pic from there???

you put the mod files in my documents/simcity 4/plugins, as for the map files

you create a folder in my documents/simcity 4/regions (make sure its not the first folder alphabetically) and place the comfig.bmp file and the greyscale jpg in it

then you run sc4, browse to the new region folder, which should be flat, the press ctrl-alt-shift-r all at the same time,. it will bring up a browse box, browse to the folder and select the jpg file, then wait, IMPORTANT: make sure you do not do anything else while it is rendering, and shut off your screensaver and background tasks.

So while after i click the jpg file and nothing hapens, just wait?? i hate to sound stupid lol

if its not the first folder it should start to render the screen should change to the render screen,

if it does not, you will need to list your machine and sc4 specs as per this thread so we can help you troubleshoot the issue

i have a intel P4 2.60 gigahertz

504 MB RAM

Intel Integrated Graphics

74.05 GB HD with 15.31 Free Space

and i have SC4 Deluxe with probally no update because for some reason i cant regester my CD Key on the site eventhough ive never givin it to someone and i regestered it when i intitially installed so i cant dl ne updates , etc.

well you do need the updates, there are a few render bugs the update fixes, with that and the shared video memory it could be either or causing the problem, I suggest contacting EA support and getting the serial issue fixed
