Problem With R$$$

I have been playing my new region for a while and have many cities set up and working together well but in every city there is a complete lack of R$$$.  I have no rich residents and -5000 demand for new construction.  I have been using that mod for rapid growth and decided that it might have something to do with it, but I took that out of the plug-ins and still had the same problem with both my city I have been working on and a new unsaved city.  Just thought that I would throw this out there and if anyone has an idea what is happening then I would like to hear it.

thanks!

Welcome, Triple C 8! Well, there can be a lot of reasons why you don't have R$$$ demand. Actually, a lot of people, myself included, don't WANT a lot of R$$$ because they're a nuicance in a lot of ways. But if you want R$$$, first and foremost is education. A well educated population is necessary to have the existing residents attain R$$$ status, and a good education base is necessary to attract R$$$s from other cities. Next, be sure the taxes aren't prohibitive. Don't go over 9%, and you may want to lower it a bit from that until you get some established. Don't set taxes TOO low, though, or you'll create an artificial demand. Be sure all your services are up to par...health, police for low crime. And, of course, be sure you haven't hit any demand caps. As you know, you must have adequate jobs available, be it I HT, CO$$$ or CS$$$ for them to get employment. However, this is usually a Catch 22...you need jobs for residents, but you need residents to attract developers. Make sure that they can get to the jobs quickly, as the rich are laziest of all and they'd rather drive than take mass transit. Often, it just takes time. Keep doing everything by the numbers, and they will come. In fact, when they finally do, you may find yourself wishing there was an easy way to get rid of them! : ) Good luck. Check our some of the threads on R$$$, demand and some of the tutorials for some more insight. Hope this helps.

thanks for the explanation but i guess I didn't really post what was really happening.  I have NO R$$$, there is completly no demand for it and there has NEVER been.  I have played the game enought to know that you will always have a bit of people moving into the city with high wealth.  but in my new cities the bar can not get any lower for R$$$.  I was thinking it had something to do with the mod for rapid growth that I was trying out.  It can not be because of education since that is high within the city and same for health and police services.  also there are many high tech and or C$$$ jobs in the area since the mod creates high demad for both.  I was wondering if anyone elce has had problems like this when using this mod?

when you start a new city R$$$ demand always should go up if enough education or health is  built but in this case  it is nonexistant.  I mean  I  have NO R$$$ in my entire region.

was that a bit clearer, hope someone has an answer.

it was clear to me Triple_C_8, and I do believe that you have a plugin problem. that is the only explaination. even if you put in water, parks, demand cap relief, and low taxes you should have at minimum 0 demand, but not -5000, that makes no sense. if you think you know the culprit then take that mod out and see what happens.

you may have to start your region over again. I hate to say it, but when you use demand mods you take risks with any city. sorry I could not be more helpful, but I do understand you dilema.

Yeah, I agree with Soldyne, Triple_C_8. What you're experiencing definitely isn't normal, especially since you say education, health, etc is all good. Sounds like you either have some kind of conflict between mods / plug-ins that's killing your R$$$ demand, or you have some kind of mod in there with a function to supress R$$$ demand. Try taking out any mods that you think would have any influence on demand, or, if you are using more than one demand mod (not a good idea, btw) take them out one by one, or take them all out and replace them one by one and that may make it easier to narrow it down.

I hope you can resolve it without having to redo your region. If you go at it slowly and methodically, you may be able to get rid of the problem and get everything running smoothly.

Yup, definitely something messed up. Mod most likely the culprit, but if that doesn't work out check check out your BATs too. Although it's less likely a BAT is to blame, I suppose it's possible.
