    Rebuilding: Phase 1

The mayor quickly decided that rebuilding must begin immediatly. In order to protect the city from further attacks, there must be a city there, and one worth protecting. He called for a quick map to be drawn, one that has been updated from the attacks, so he could pinpoint the areas most quickly needing rebuilding. Within minutes, the plan had been set and the citizens started on their task of rebuilding the city.

The plan was simple. Rebuild the key areas first, expanding out from there. These areas were as follows.

    Focus 1: The Central Downtown

    focus15uk.jpg

The devastation around this area was immense, but thankfully localized. Many buildings were destroyed however, many of these tactical command posts for the army and air force. This area was obviously key to the attackers, and the mayor decided it was necessary to have this area back in its full glory within 2 weeks.

    Focus 2: The SouthWest Corridor

    focus27jb.jpg

Another area caught under heavy fire, much of the road network was destroyed in the attack. This area was home to the prestigous Carlington University, boasting thousands of the top scholars across the nation, and the best professors worldwide. When this is up and running again, the Mayor believes, their collective genius' could be used to come up with strategic defence systems for the city. The Mayor hopes to have most of this area, with at least the University running, within a month.

    Focus 3: The Emerald Gates

    focus36yg.jpg

A personal love of the mayors, as well as a strategic defence point for the city, the Emerald Gates is the final focus area for the city to rebuild. This will be the most challenging as this was the most heavily bombarded section from the attacks. Little to no transportation networks exist in the area, and the 'Third Downtown' was completely obliterated. The mayor has no expectations for this area to be finished, but he would like a military command post in the area to keep sure the area is safe.

Updates on the these focus areas should be coming soon!

andymcnab666: We don't know, but we should find out sometime after the rebuilding.. 22.gif

    jacqulina: Thanks!

    canuck3360: Perhaps.. 22.gif

Battlecat: Thanks! Yep, reconstruction should move along quickly though. 4.gif

Mikeaut1: Thanks! Keep checking in! 3.gif

    Ringo: Thanks 4.gif

cityhawk: The story may take a twist... or perhaps not... 22.gif

Sorry about the long delay, but I got really busy all of the sudden, so SimCity sorta fell off to the side. Did a bit today, so I have something to show.

Fully developed part of Focus 1. Built up in record time, and is fully powered, watered, etc. Still much work to be done however.

    fbk14cl.jpg

The Mayor wants the city to become as it was as soon as possible, and as such landscaping, city greenery is being added as soon as infrastructure, housing etc. is being built. With such an influx of aid from around the globe, Fairbrook is swimming in money to support all of this. This next shot shows how you can go from being in the middle of a fully developed residential area to being in the middle of nowhere. Kinda eery one would think.

More updates coming soon as more is built!

Throughout the city, there will be many small memorial parks remembering those who died in the blasts. While there will be one large one in the rebuilt Downtown on the Emerald Gates, which honors all the victims, in every rebuilt zone the Mayor has set aside land for smaller memorials, focusing on those who lived/worked/spent time in these areas. Tucked away on side streets, these memorials are a pleasure to walk through and interesting to look at, while honoring and remembering those who passed on in this tragic event.

Love the suburbia. Very realistic winding roads, culdesacs, and trees. You have it all from urban sprawl to major cities. Nice work.

This CJ takes a good mix of different ideas and styles on ST and places them together in a good style. Its got a good flow for a regon that has a larger downtown and has realistic residential areas.

While many areas of Fairbrook have been bustling with activity rebuilding and all, other areas are like a graveyard. The normally bustling beaches are silent... one could hear a pin drop. The Stadiums, always lovingly filled with fans watching the game, concert, etc. are  empty. Everyone is working on the rebuilding process. The Fairbrook Dolphins, the cities STHL team, was knocked out of the playoffs early, just days before the bombs struck, and the whole team is now helping build houses, roads, shops, etc. Truly a team effort to make this city as it was.

    mayor1ao.jpg

Mayor Beebs was granted, by the citizens, a house of his choice. Beebs chose the one he did for 2 reasons... strategic and for its location. Strategically, it's a good placement. His house will be neither advertised, nor will it stand out, saving it from targeting from whomever attempted to demolish Fairbrook in the first place. Near a main freeway as well makes it easy for Beebs to get to almost any point in the city quickly. It's location is also important to the mayor, as it is set upon one of the larger Memorial Parks that will be built in the city. Beebs wanted to be somewhere where he could step out his door and be able to remember those who lost their lives for no reason in the attacks.

The Transportation Network has also been made to be both complex and simple, depending on if you know the city or not. Mayor Beebs has decided that Fairbrook will not follow the standard grid system that you see in most cities around the world, most obvious in downtown areas. While simple, efficient and effective, it allows for anyone driving around and planting bombs or explosives around the city to get around easily. Beebs figures that by having one of the most complex systems in the world, it should hamper the efforts, even just slightly.

collgab- Thanks! There are other beaches around the region, perhaps I'll show those later.

kant01- Thanks! Yep, I'm not sure where I'd be without Peg's seasonal trees. A work of genius these things. I see you also use some seasonal forests in Mystic County. 9.gif

Battlecat- Yep, it's getting there! 9.gif

BlondeTwiggy- For the next little bit, I'll just be showing sites and stuff of what's left of Fairbrook and the surrounding area. Rebuilding will hit you in the face one day, don't worry. 2.gif

    Mikeaut1- Thanks as always! 9.gif

Still a hotspot in the area, even after the bombings, Riverton Pointe has one of the best views of the ocean you can get in Fairbrook. Hotels in the area are pricey however, with the cheapest room starting at $200 a night.

Moving away from Fairbrook now, into the surrounding area. Just giving you a little break from the story here. 2.gif We're going to Gainsburg, one of the communities just bordering Fairbrook. Gainsburg is a small community of just over 10 000 people. Squished between the two main highways, 104 and 104A, the economy here, boosted by Fairbrooks, is booming. A monument has been erected at the front of town, to remember these boom times forever.

    gainsburg26wt.jpg

Still, however, Gainsburg is a farming community at heart and you can see this as just across the highway from the oldest developments, there is old farmland, been there since settlers first came to the area.
