    Update 24: Manhattan update:

    The original residents can barely recognize the modern Manhattan from it's original title as the Coastal Plains Capitol.  Manhattan has been growing like a 12 yr-old future basketball player.  It now has a university, an airport, a suprisingly large resort district, and much more found only in yuor typical metroplolises (or however its spelled).  Here's a look at the new airport:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//airport-original%201.jpg align=baseline>

    As you can tell, the airport is fairly large.  I really wanted to have a nice expansive airport here, but I don't think I've really achieved that here.  Normally vistitors get to drive by a nice entrance sign, for some reason I thought the Jefferson monument would look better, I immeidately regret that now, I'll just have to find another spot for that particular monument.  There's also a lot fo random empty spots around the airport, any suggestions for what I could do with that?

    This next picture is a new neighborhood just east of the campus, surrounding the new zoo and surrounding parks.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//zoo%20and%20park%20area.jpg align=baseline>

    I really love these kind of parks with the wide walkways and the expansive lawns, though this one if more forest.  I'm hoping to make a new city soon that has a lot of European influences, and that will defly make an appearence.  The next pictures are just shots of the city as a whole.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Manhattan%20overview%201.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Manhattan%20overview%203.jpg align=baseline>

    As you can see, this city is very high density, I'm going to make some suburbs on the out regions, but I kinda like the look of it right now.  I think the total population is something aburd like 340,000, so it's getting bigger and bigger everyday.  Also, if anybody has sugggestion for what to do for that little island where the bridges connect, I'll name the island after you.  I'm really at a loss for what to do with it, it's too small to do much.

    Update 25: living in Panama

    First, here's a look at the region as it looks now:
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Coastal%20Plains%20view%201.jpg align=baseline>

    Look for new cities in the future.  Before any new cities are built, I decided I need to finish Panama City, so here's the latest new neighborhoods in Panama:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//coastal%20scenery.jpg align=baseline>

    I really like the banners along the avenue look, makes it look like something big is coming up.  This next screenshot is another look at the creekbed running along Panama, right through the big park too.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//park%20and%20creek.jpg align=baseline>

    The next big thing I want to add to Panama is a good sized theme park, unfortunetly there's very little room left.  On this side of the city, it's almost completely filled up.  Though there's a little room left at the other end for it.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Panama%20City-overview3.jpg align=baseline>

    I'll also be chaning the church on the overlooking hill, I already used it in another city and it would look silly duplicating them.

    If you still haven't done anything with the diagonal bit inside the interchange, I'd suggest not putting anything, just some trees to pretty it up. It would be weird to see a building inside an interchange.

    Overall you're filling up nicely

    Yeah, I really hadn't figured out what to do yet, but just filling it up with trees probably works.

    Update 26: the future of Plano

    Plano takes a back seat to no city.  While it doesn't have the pzazz of other fancy cities, it makes up for it in potential... to not be fancy.  my bigg dilema right now with Plano is what to do with it's large coastline that's just sitting there:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//future%20coastline.jpg align=baseline>

    Some of it will be seawalls, but I would like to see and beach or dock in there somewhere.  I decided I needed a nice size park as well, so look to that open space surrounded by avenues for a nice size park.  I'm putting in a cemetary then some other nice amendities:
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//cemetary%20park.jpg align=baseline>

    If this region begins to develop into a more dense commercial district, then I'll just have to change the park to something more appropriate than a cemetary.

    I've also been adding new suburban neighborhood to Plano to fill it out more.  I already decided Plano wasn't the place for industrial zones ruining the air, but hopefully, with some help from the new neighboring cities, all those demands will be met.  In order to connect all these industrial jobs with their workers, I had to expand the rail line network.  But this time I get the chance to use tunnels (couldn't before cause the land wasn't high enough above sealevel).  Here's a look at some of that tunneling madness:

    Update 27: Railroad brings business

    This is a short update following the development of a new city, Lockhart.
    Lockhart is a mostly an agricultural town, and Pedriana appears to be it's king, for she owns every farm it looks like:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//spreadout%20farms.jpg align=baseline>

    I'd still like to add an industrial district, but there are a few houses in the city.  Pretty simple actually:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Lockhart%20neighborhoods.jpg align=baseline>

    That church in the right corner is Lockhart's big attraction, the city pretty much spreads out from the First Methodist Church there.  Here's a closer look:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//First%20Methodist%20Church.jpg align=baseline>

    And that's that.

    No, I hadn't used farms very often before, but I guess now I'll have to change that.

    Update 28: And the Construction goes on

    Here are some random projects from around the Coastal Plains.

    This first picture is from a new high-tech industrial city.  It's the home of the new Aero-space complex:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Space%20program.jpg align=baseline>

    The Condiminiums look like real high0tech office buildings, too bad theres a pool in there.

    This next project is the new County Fair in Panama City.  There are a couple of rollercoasters, thrill rides, an observation tower and even the Royals Baseball Stadium.  It could use a little more spacing out, but this was the last bit of room in Panama City.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//County%20fair.jpg align=baseline>

    Here's a closer shot:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//County%20fair%20close-up.jpg align=baseline>

    The last city we travel to is back to Dubai:  Here you can catch a glimpse of it's avenue, which hopefully will have a lot higher density buildings there in the future:

    Dubai%20blvd.jpg

    That's all for everything going on in the Coastal Plains right now.

    Update 29:  The big picture in focus

    Here's a short update with a look at the large transportation view:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Transport%20view%20I.jpg align=baseline>

    And here's a map that details how the cities are broken down into zoning.  The Light green is naturally low density residential; the difference is that red is high density residentialblue is of course commerical - high density, yellow is high density industrial; As for medium and low density commericial and medium density residential; I place medium density commerical all over residential regions so it's not completely accurate, I try to make it as realistic as possible, gotta love the shopping centers.  Medium density residential is usually used as a buffer between high and low densities and low denisty and large highway access roads or avenues.  I don't zone medium density industrial at all really and there's agricultural zoning in there but only a few and the zones are large enough that you can probably see it yourself.

    color%20coded%20zoning.jpg

    Most all the residential is medium and high wealth, and the industrial is almost solely hightech with some manufacturing and sparse dirty.

    Update 30: Manhattan's downtown

    Lots of downtown pictures in this update.  This first screenshot is of the new convention center complex.  The tall building right next to it grew all on it's own with no help from me.  I decided recently that my downtown lack parking and so I'm going to add some random parking lots maybe even a parking garage here and there to add that authentic look.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//convention%20center%20complex.jpg align=baseline>

    Moving right along, just along the avenue splitting this downtown region from the residential district near-by, I added some new tall lamp posts.  So, I had to wait till nighttime to catch a glimpse of the lights, and it was quite a spectacular view.  Again, none of these buildings were plopped, oh wait, except the Vandium center in the lower left corner.  All the others grew on their own, whether I wanted them or not.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//downtown%20avenue.jpg align=baseline>

    We now return to the other side of Manhattan's coast, to look at how the stadium region has developed.  While this district is equally dense, a little more of this was plopped, including the non-operable Rockafeller Center and the tall White building sitting so nice next to the river.  Though I only plopped the White Tower after another CO$$$ building started growing except without the actual building, just a big whole in the ground.  Still trying to fix my plug-in folder, it's a mess.  And who here's the next night picture:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//downtown%20by%20the%20stadium.jpg align=baseline>

    You'll be able to see in the picture above an interesting little space-saver for the inter-highway exchange.  I'll probably trade out those Big Bens for the new highway lights.  And maybe something to replace that asian building too.  Anywho, this last picture is the latest residential neighborhood.  It's grown a bit since this shot was taken.

    Update 31: Wild On Panama

    So it was only a matter of time before Spring Break fever hit and Panama City's beaches became a famous.  Also I might have found a lot of good buildings that worked well right next to those pristine beaches.  Hopefully soon I'll find some good nightclubs to add.

    Update 32: European fantasy

    I decided it was about to try my hand at an European styled city.  It's no where near complete, but I'll give you some screenshots all the same.  In this first shot, you'll find a simple Wall-to-wall buildings.  Everything is plopped.  The whole city won't have this old city look, but hopefully I'll get better at it and they won't look so off.

    Also, they don't seem to grow right for me - the buildings are all out of proportion (these small things are claiming to fit upwards of 2000 R$$$ or C$$$$, it's a little ridiculous, but most of em abandoned pretty quickly.  If I knew how to tweak lots any I'd change em all to just landmarks or small CS$$ lots.  Hopefully, these out of range numbers don't screw up my city dynamics too much.  If any one has any ideas, let me know.  Oh, as as for their construction, it seems they always try to grow on huge lots, like 4x4 and up and then don't show, has happened to a few other lots as well, if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Old%20town%201.jpg align=baseline>

    Oh, btw, this city is called Milan, after the city I'll be studying abroad in this summer.  While it may share a name, it's not suppose to look anythign like the real city, just it's style.  I'm also using lot's more rail in this city than others.  This next picture is of the St. Edwards Church, right by the river.  It's great view makes it very popular.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//St.%20Edwards%20Church.jpg align=baseline>

    This last picture is my favorite.  Here you'll get a good look at the Central Market.  It's a bit ambitious and would probably overwhelm any visiting tourist, but the locals shop here for all sorts of exotic delicacies.  The market is also right across from the Duomo of Milan (or Florence).

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Milan%20central%20market.jpg align=baseline>

    Stay tuned for more updates, they won't be so far apart next time, I promise.

    Update 33: city spotlight - Galveston

    At the begining of this CJ I had noted that each city was designed seperately to mirror similar cities in the real world from my point of view.  So, I figured the best way to really empashize each city's unique culture and environment was to cover all of that in a city spotlight.  Since this is te first spotlight, I thought I'd start with something simple, the city of Galveston, my second city in the Coastal Plains.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Galveston%20stats%202.jpg align=baseline>

    As you can probably guess, Galveston was a secondary city to fuel the neighboring cities's industry demand.  It has over a hundred thusand Industry jobs and a few commercial ones as well.  Oh, the Mayor's name, well I decided to name each mayor after a Greek mythology character, and Hades seemed to fit.  Like Hades, Galveston is quite wealthy, some 90% of that industry is High-Tech.  Plus Galveston, despite all it's wealth is still the armpit of the region, because I stash all the garbage incenerators here (these custom buildings seem to pump a lot more garbage than the normal stuff).  Galveston fulfills the garbage and industry needs of three different large cities, so it's quite important.  It's also a killer on the environment, here's a look at what's happened to the once pristine river banks:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//mucky%20river%20banks.jpg align=baseline>

    It also has some nice harbors, though if I put a little work into it, it actually might look good despite the smog.  Since this was the first city finished, I really had no motivation to improve it, it's quite simple really, with it's simple harbors and grid styled industrial zones.  Though there is a nice rail system running through it that seems to have been a waste of money.  Here's a look at where the rail system connects with the harbor.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//port%20connection.jpg align=baseline>

    One thing that was really frustrating was the industrial harbors, or whatever PEG calls em seemed to randomly stop working at certain points.  That's why the other boardwalk is placed there, cause it just wouldn't let me place the industry ones.  I didn't really have any ideas on how to make that work better, but hopefully I'll get around to fixing it.

    Ths last picture is some more detail on the rail system running through the city.  It's suppose to be two lines, sunken and heavily forested, but apparently it's only two out of three.  Well, it's probablhy sunken elsewhere.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//woods%20and%20rails.jpg align=baseline>

    I finally made use of those nice lamps as well, though they don't seem realistic, the ones I've always seen are facing a certain direction and have the lights on extensions, but I'm getting off topic.

    That was Galveston in all it's glory, I promise the other city spotlights will be more interesting, because this is the city I put the least work into.  Though I would like to know what people think I can do to improve it, especially the harbor and such.  Here's a final look:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Galveston-smog%20and%20all.jpg align=baseline>

    Please let me know what you think.
