i am currently constructing a city on a large map with almost 100,000 poeple, just built a new international aiport, and a very good transportation network, and everybody's taxes at 3.0% and just one day the high and medium wealth residential demands drop to the bottom, and most of the buissness dropped all the way, and the population dropped to 50,000 very quick, i have no idea what happend, just wondering if this has happened to anybody and what i can do, i let it run on the fastest speed to see if it would pull out of it and nothing has happend, i didnt plop anything that would have caused this so i have no idea what has made this happen, if anybody has any tips that would be greatly appreciated, i have one more question, sometimes while im playing sometimes the game will just pause for a sec and just exit the game like i wasnt ever playing, this has happened many times with many hours lost of unsaved data, any tips on any of these two questions would be great thanx

It's possible that you've hit a residential demand cap. This is a limit beyond which growth is impossible. To relieve the cap, you need to place recreational facilities and certain rewards (e.g.the university).

Another possibility is that you've been sustaining your population growth artificially through low taxation. A 3.0% tax for all your R's is disastrous in the long run, as it tends to draw in more sims in your city than you can support. This is especially true for R§§§'s. I wouldn't be surprised if you had widespread dilapidation in your city. Instead, put taxes at reasonable levels and keep your R§§§ taxes the highest to control their growth. Instead of low R taxes, lower your C taxes instead. This will create more employment, which will draw in sims that your city can actually sustain.

Regarding the sudden exits, it could be a computer problem such as overheating or faulty RAM. Maybe it could be a bad SC4 install too, or maybe related to buggy mods. It's better to raise the issue at the Bugs and Technical Issues forum instead and provide a bit more details.
