You are using a laptop, right?

Have you downloaded and installed Update 1 from the Simcity.com site?

How much memory does your box have?

What are your virtual memory settings?

What kind of Video card is in your laptop?

Windows XP with SP1?  SP2?  All current updates?

DirectX 9.0c?

Have you run dxdiag?
