i have a city of 20k, a region of 45k and i was just wondering how other people who have gotten cities of large populations were able to get massive growth. did you massively zone all at one time or did you zone a few blocks at a time for a long period of time. i see some people who are in year 100 and have a city of 100k when i'm in year 100 and i've got 20k lol....just wondering...also what did you do about your city services?? (police/fire/health) when did you place them??

thanks.

Well i have never got that much of a city population (proboly because I don't wait that long!)

but I would recomend you build little by little and make sure there is enough jobs for everyone and all of fire/police/health have covered all areas of the city.

I would also make sure that keep up with public demand. And I never thought i'd say this but,...listen to your advisors.

I definately think it's better to build fairly slow.

That way you don't get a population crash when everyone dies at the same time.

I always start off with some sort of organized plan, then after a while it turns into disarray. I guess I just don't have the attention span to keep the same detail that I employ during the early days of my city.

As my cities get larger I find myself scrambling to rezone areas and destroy buildings to make way for the public works buildings I forgot. In the last city I did, Sieglinde the capitol of my city journal, I had a mayor rating of 100 for nearly 50 years while I did everything meticulously, then suddenly it plummetted to almost zero as my city got larger and I didn't pay as much attention as I should have. I'm just lazy, I guess. 3.gif

grow organically. zone limited according to demand. I prefer to zone 1 block of comerce at a time, and most of time my commerce zones are rezoned residential. Have patience

Be sure not to force thousends of people in to one city in one minute. Build up gradually. Don't say to yourself oh, I'll put a couple thousend citizens in to my city and then I'll add the jobs in. It won't work the way you think it will. A lot of things in sim city work this way. Just add the jobs before the people.
