ManagerJosh replied to Twister_Chaser's topic in City-Building Games
If you look in the lower left hand corner, it does say "Promotional Packaging Only". Translation: Marketing Material. It may or may not be the final one. -
Sorta off topic, but counting down to E for All and seeing SimCity Societies again WOOT! Yes I'm going. Who else? 16 more days!!

Some of them aren't half bad. http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=13293

How do you feel about the SCS announcement?

How is it kiddish, Battlefield? -
I remember playing SimCity 3000 and I always had problems with farms always selling off their land to industry. It's this natural tendency to continue to urbanize that drove me nuts.

Maxis no longer exists. More to the point, Maxis isn't making SimCity Societies. Tilted Mill is. -
Originally posted by: Crissa I'm hoping they'll solve the repetitive building plop problem... To meet goals, you have to plop many of the same building, and because the city eventually changes towards one tile set or another, it will gain another repetition problem again. -Crissaquote> If that's observation is based off screenshots, I think one will be in for a quite an awakening when the game ships.

I just batch uploaded 16 new screenshots. Low resolution. Several are duplicates but there are definitely several new ones. http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?p=134214#post134214 Two videos also appeared on the SimCity Societies official site. One was posted here at ST already via Gamespot.

It's a template issue Dirk or an admin has to stop on by and add

No one said one had to look.

I do hope everyone here as plenty of time, energy, and most importantly, financial resources, to help spur game development.

Is it realistic to always have a city evolve into a fast pace, hussle and bussle, metropolis?

So far, the only news I've heard on the SimCity Fanday is the invitation list. SimTropolis.com (Dirk and and Rybolton) SimCityPlaza.de (Andreas) FlashofSteel.com HeavenGames.com -

A good question is who else is going besides Dirk and Rybolton? I've been poking around and I haven't been able to find out who else is going. -

Originally posted by: rctshack Well... i think sometimes you can see a preview of something and fully know it's not what you want. It's one of the very few games that's entering it's 5th incarnation. -

I agree we do judge prematurely. However sometimes our assumptions and judgements are inaccurate. When we see trailers in the movies, it's a sample of what's to come. Sometime it does live up to our expectations. Other time it doesn't. The same applies for anything else in the world. A person who played a games knows far more than a person who watched someone who played the game. A person who watched someone play knows far more than someone who merely read a preview or review on what the person saw. -

Originally posted by: read.andrew I won't buy this game. I enjoyed SC4 because it was complex. I'll wait for SC6 or the next maxis city builder.quote> Isn't it premature to judge a game that formally hasn't even hit the shelves? -
Just a minor off tangent, has the mast majority of people in this thread read the latest updates on SimCity Societies Previews After E3?

To make judgements based on what we know so far would be premature at best.quote> http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showpost.php?p=157643&postcount=22 I think that provides a good idea of their vision and direction. SimCity Societies is not intended to be a realistic urban simulation.
