I don't think Delta or Delta Express carriers have served Fargo. It has to be somewhere West though (skywest in Delta livery), and somewhere with a United flight to Denver and flights to SLC with Delta. United and Delta have to share a concourse and be on the end where their gates are arranged down in a corner. The fact that a United, Delta, and Delta Connection carrier are all in adjacent or very close gates rules out PHX, SLC, DEN, SEA, SFO, PDX, DFW... It's not LAS cause the hills are green, it's not Nebraska, Kansas, or Oklahoma cause there are hills. Which leaves us with NM, ID, MT, SD, and WY with their respective largest airports: ABQ, BOI, BIL, FSD, and JAC The only 3 airports that fit from ATL's Skywest flights are JAN, BNA, and CVG. United doesn't serve 2 of them, and Delta has an exclusive Delta connex terminal on the other. Edit: Fargo actually is looking very good, found an old pic of it showing Delta and United epress liveries adjacent at the end of a terminal...has it previously been served by UAL or DAL proper? If so, add FAR to that list.

yes, it is, but The_Hutt already noted that.

well, the edit was done about a minute before your post....Only so much I can do about the slow server.

how about the Denver Art Museum (to conform to the current trend of the thread): Actually, for insanity per se, I would suggest that building a 1,800' tower in the middle of a desert with ample land and low land value during and through a global real-estate crash is about the most insane thing you could do. In that respect, I would say a long list of buildings in Dubai and the Middle east as a whole top this list. Though, perhaps the land reclamation projects were more 'insane' given the above imperatives.

Florida teenager commits suicide online.
david1314 replied to belfastuniguy's topic in Current Events
Originally posted by: hamsterTK I don't think people should be given the chance to kill themselves, because it hurts people around them, and the choice is never made in a rational state of mind. The only exception is assisted euthanasia for elderly terminally ill patients who are in extreme pain. I'm not against that if it's the patients wishes and their family agrees to it. quote> That choice is GRANTED. It's part-in-parcel of this thing we call 'life'. So, whoever grants it, be it your mother and father, the fsm, god, or other creator, the chance to kill your self exists de facto. Any attempt to remove this chance is an overreaching invasion into the personal lives of people, indeed, it strips an individual of the right to life (a right being something that you may exercise of waive freely). And on the question of the desire to commit suicide and how likely it is to remain: most attempted suicides fail because they are calls for attention. I would typically suggest that a person who succeeded in committing suicide probably made a more concerted effort than your typical cry-for-attention. That said, I don't think attention was the motive here...I would look towards vengeance as the motive for video of it. And why does it seem that most people here assume that everyone who watched it had the benefit of foresight and knew he indeed was committing suicide and this was not a hoax and thus there is a rational belief for criminal action to be taken against viewers of the video? The suicide and the morbid curiosity I can stomach...such blatant disregard for human rights "in the name of humanity" truly makes me sick. -
Is #3 ABQ? Edit: looked into it some, and the N499SW registration is used on a smaller craft from Mar 2007. So the picture is kinda old, but based on recent gate assignments, it seems SLC may be the airport shown in the picture. Though BIL, JAC, and BOI also fit the description...

Isn't this one the 1600x1200 screen resolution problem? Back it off to 1280 x 1024 or smaller and re-save the city to fix....I think.

Game crashes immediately after having load the city
david1314 replied to SirUnger's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Originally posted by: SirUnger Without any plugins it works, so I think the problem is not that there is any missing plugin. It also works with some older plugins on my Laptop. So could it be a new plugin which crashes the game? But if this is the case, why does it only happen with this town? I hope you could answer my questions and I try to find a plugin which causes the crashes!quote> Conflict. You installed a new plugin that is trying to load when it pulls up something that's already placed in the city. The best thing to do here is to remove any plugins you have added since the city stopped working, and add each on individually until the crash is duplicated. Test the same plugin that allegedly caused the crash without any of the others added since it worked to make sure it is not a conflict with another of the new plugins (I had this happen once, drove me CRAZY trying to figure it out). My guess would be that two incompatible .sc4desc or .sc4lot files both share the same ID and the load order causes a conflict on an existing lot in the city before it can resolve. -

Originally posted by: fukuda Sorry, but Basque people is not being persecuted, ETA doesn't even have that excuse to fight.quote> Originally posted by: fukuda Oh yes, some political parties have been illegalized, but it's not an easy task, the police forces must have enough evidence...quote> I think you can understand from an American perspective that this situation is without doubt 'persecution'. Weather it is legal, just, constitutional, or any other apology you can offer for the action, it's still persecution. Beyond the simple fact that the act of banning a party is itself persecution, there is no doubt that these parties were targeted for their basqueness and for no other reason. So it's persecution on more than one level. Originally posted by: fukuda There are legitimate ways of doing things, if you want to "fight" for a cause do it legally and without killing people.quote> An weather they're being persecuted or not hardly matters, they have wanted simple independence...to then suggest that there are legal channels they could pursue (the same legal channels that simply made them illegal) is ridiculous. I mean, you said yourself when they attempted the most legal way possible that it was just rejected on account of the constitution. Seems to me there are NOT "'legitimate' ways of doing things" in Spain (nor any other Western nation for that matter). The ETA has no doubt battled within itself as much with Spain regarding it's PR image. The Basque people do want political legitimacy, but Spain has banned them politically (as Basques, not as ETA members) on account of the actions of the ETA. You can hardly call the motive illegitimate if the tactics are less so.
-
^ Lol, apparently the hangover from Franco is still strong in the media. The ETA (Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, literally means Land of the Basque-speakers and Liberty) do indeed fight for the cause of basque independence. It is a cause that predates Spain (and Castile in fact!). You can hardly consider it terrorism when they kill no civilians, call in a bomb warning, and have had the Basque political parties removed from government by the (alleged) constitutional court. I mean, Fukuda, it does not seem to make sense that people would just randomly place bombs for fun and then find some pretext by claiming to be terrorists. In the words of your sig..."unless it agrees with your own reason and common sense". Very simply, you don't call in a warning when murder (not political gain) is your goal. Furthremore, lacking the political component, not even Spain would consider it terrorism. Even Spain ([sarcasm]that bastion of truth in media![/sarcasm]) acknowledges the political roll of the basques. And given their expulsion from government by the courts, apparently, Spain think the cause is legitimate (at least in the eyes of the beholders).

Well, say I'm jumping to conclusions what with reading headlines and all....but I would think the ETA.

It can't be done with modding either. It's hard-coded into the game. Unless we can distribute a modified .exe (would require a change in the copyrighting or explicit permission for EA...both pipe dreams) we cannot have diagonal bridges that work like the current orthogonal bridges.

Mike Dixon-Kennedy, aka OnlyPlace4 or OP4
david1314 replied to nerdly_dood's topic in Community Goings-on
Oh my... This is the first I saw of this thread...I cannot believe Mike is gone. As a founding member of BLaM, I worked quite extensively with Mike back in 2006. This brings a tear to my eye...Best wishes to the family. RIP Mike. *cry* -
You can't. There's a back-door way to do it using 'transit enabled' lots and a few (rather fickle) tricks with various editors. The problem is, the longer the span gets, the larger the lot must be, and the Brooklyn bridge would need to be very long I assume. Also, you would need to model the bridge, within specifications that would allow the bridge to work. It would have to be modeled in it's entirety, and would not fit any stretch of water but the specific length it was designed for.

Railways located in the median of the Expressway?
david1314 replied to Need4Camaro's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Originally posted by: Need4CamaroDoes any other city besides Atlanta and Chicago multiplex their rail and their freeway? Do you see any advantage to this setup?quote>Denver does. All of its light rail lines use a common alignment with highways at some point along the way. I think it's a great setup because a I live 6 blocks from a station and 2 from the highway . The remaining lines of the light rail, I think each of them will also share a common alignment with some highway (mostly I-25 near the US-36 / I-70 / I-270 / I-76 interchanges just north of the city) London has a few, the DLR parallels the A13 for example. The Eurostar as noted above (also parallels A13 briefly) In Chicago, a lot of their lines do, I know the line towards Gary and South Bend shares the alignment with I-80/90 or I-65. In Netherlands, there are too many to begin naming...it seems whenever you're on a train there's a highway or a platform out the window. the BART in San Francisco has a few brief sections near the airport...I would guess some in East Bay too. -
Will Wright Talks about Focus Groups

A compromise makes a room full of losers. -
You can used 'transit enabled' lots for the center bridge after building a bridge on either side of the middle tiles. I've done it before, it's pretty straight forward. There's just a lot of little steps that need to be done to make it behave properly.

60 degrees? Nice! That's anti-grid hall-of-fame territory if that comes to fruition.

When commercial + industrial jobs > 20,000 the farm demand is reduced to 0. As this is a scaler (it multiplies any demand by 0), there is no way around it.

A new level of silliness in civil rights!
david1314 replied to LarksTonguesInAspic's topic in Current Events
Also, the thread title is a bit misleading. Technically, they are not civil rights...civil rights apply only to humans, and a qualified class of humans at that (military etc. is not civil). These are, in fact, plant right. -
A new level of silliness in civil rights!
david1314 replied to LarksTonguesInAspic's topic in Current Events
Wow, I actually read through some of that....this is a bit over-the-top. Somehow they concluded that decapitating roadside lilies for the sake of kicking through the flowers is wrong, but genetic modification is morally sound. I would think it were a hoax...and so did the weekly standard even said it wasn't specifically.... ... ...I still think it's a hoax. -
Grid and radius rings not showing up
david1314 replied to atomicvampire's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Sim City will prioritize out some visual rendering on slower machines. The most common bug that comes with this is the highways not displaying properly in region-satalite view. It's a matter of getting the display to a playable level and compromising with the rest...it should have been fixed by maxis before it ever became a problem with a more in depth video setting panel. I think city detail and texture detail are the biggest factors in this. Unfortunately, each is in fact a suite of settings so you cannot pick and choose which textures and which details you want to see better and which you don't so much care about (i.e. in Flightsim, you can alter land and water details independently of each other). Oh, also shadows are another big one (I think this is the one that sets my system over the limit). If you have a slow machine, you have two choices: 1. a game that looks good 2. a game that's playable Although, I'm kinda concerned about the specs on atomic's machine. They are higher than mine across the board and shouldn't have such performance-related problems. I would ask if you have other items taxing your video card (like a second monitor or one of many poorly programed audio apps with 'visualizations' running in background). It is without a doubt video related though (as pointed out software rendering fixes the problem). BTW, atomic, thanks for the post...you gave system stats, pictures, and a good run-down of your problem. BRAVO! I wish everyone did that with their questions.
