This is insane, that's all I can really say... That the parents smoke pot, I don't give a rat's bum, but the kids SHOWED how to smoke to the officers -- that implies they were TAUGHT. Hmm... I mean, kids smoking pot, who cares? But when you're four or five, as SkiGeek said, it's rather disgusting to make their own children smoke it when there' even below five... it does, indeed, alter growth of brain cells -- that's one bad thing to have. Then again, the drugs are passible... but having a shotgun right next to the couch? I know it's a constitutional right to posess deadly weapons in your own home, but shouldn't they have been a bit harder to reach from children that age, who probably didn't know what that little stick-thing below the gun did before they blew their heads off...? I'm particularly troubled because, if you look at the woman's picture on the news site, I find she actually looks rather nice -- hard to say she's a horrible mother and a crook to boot from that pic, right? I guess it's what's on the inside that counts, after all...

For the Danish cartoons depicting Muhammad (probably mispelled that, sorry) as a bomb-wielding maniac, I must say I'm reminded of a particular scene in Jurassic Park 1. 'They were so busy thinking about if they could, they didn't stop to think if they should". (If you don't know what I'm talking about get a dose of culture... fast...) Isn't it simple human nature to rise up when we're attacked or ridiculed, or whatever? Those stupid cartoons depicted a loved prophet as a homicidal lunatic; what the hell did you expect, no-one would care? Granted, on the other end of the scale, I do believe the Muslim crowd and rioters sure as hell overreacted. Instead of burning flags and whatever else they were doing like that, couldn't they just have swarmed the cartoons' makers with letters of scorching disapproval? Seems like the rational and reasonable thing to do... Then again I do agree with several previous posters who stated that if we (me being raised Christian) spotted depictions of Mary or Jesus or whatever carring bombs, I hardly think we'd be out rioting or anything... this is pure overreacting... but then, as Duke said, it's simply a clash of culture and ideals. Different people believe in different things, both believe they're right and the other's wrong (don't bother denying it!). Maybe not wrong - just less right. It's cases like this that make me proud to have no religion. Sure, I believe in God and Jesus and all, but I hate religions (doesn't mean I hate people in those religions - I hate the idea of religion simply). Isn't religion basically brainwash and mind-control, on some low, unnoticed level? Rationally, when you look at everything unbiased and from a distance, just look at history and the facts, aren't religions just the biggest cults in the world? Don't they basically, in their core, have the same components of a cult? A leader to worship and praise (This case God, prophets, etc), rules and guidelines to follow (praying, traditions, etc), and etc.? I think the world would be so much better without religions, no matter what they are, Christianity, Islam, the whole lot. Sure they keep us in line, often better than any legal laws and systems can, but... aren't 8.5 / 10 wars based, some way or another, on religion? Aren't terrorists killing themselves and others, purely because of religion? (Killing infidels, etc... sound pretty religiously to me.) Just thought I'd throw this hodgepodge (how the hell do you spell that anyway!?) of ideas out there... Hope I get some feedback...

Also, the more files you have the longer it takes for the computer to load them... it doesn't freeze, but it takes a very long time to load plugin folders when they reach things like several Gigs (who downloads that much anyways!?).

No updates? Updates. available on the Maxis site, contain a myriad of bug fixes and stuff - not the least is the night lights on downloadable buildings. It fixes a load of problems - maybe this too? I'd never heard of this before, so tell me if it works.

I just got hold of this thread today (due to the intriguing title, I won't deny it), and a few comments... First of all, a burning suggestion: HOW ABOUT WE STOP DISCUSSING WHICH COUNTRY IS BETTER, WHO HAS THE BETTER LAWS, AND GET ON WITH THE DAMN TOPIC, THE BAPTIST CHURCH RADICALS THINGY!?? I'm truly sorry to yell this out like this, but I'm sick and tired of good threads going bad because people can't take criticism. Europe ain't perfect. America ain't perfect. Well, seems pretty simple. If the trouble started a week ago, try and recall all the changes you've made in that time frame - a day or two before, say. Any games you've installed, any programs deleted, etc. Your drive being a month old, that definately ain't the problem, or your entire system would be shlunk and not just the game. Tell us, any other problems with any other programs or games that popped a week ago?

Well, deleting unneeded files in the Plugins folder will, indeed, make it smaller, which, as you said, will (or should) speed up gameplay. I know that when Plugins folders get too large (in excess of 5 Gigs and so on) the game starts to freeze and even lock up and crash, to always good to trim unwanted junk out. I've once tried to compress the folder for the same reason - let me save you a pointless and horrible experience by telling you NOT to do that. The game takes a while to decompress then recompress each file it uses - a frickin' nightmare.

This is so annoying I'm red at the moment... Where, on the ST forum posts interface, is the link / button you press / click to see any attached files? I've got the feeling it's staring at me in the frickin' face but I just can't find it!!!!! Also I'd like an answer for this to SC4Devotion.com, please! This is stupid, I know, but I'm stuck! Please help quickly... anyone...

*Sigh* these just aren't the answers I need, so I'll try one last tactic. I think I may have miswritten my question as these answers aren't what I'm waiting to read. When you write a reply - that window, with message text, etc - the window I'm typing this in! - at the very bottom there's a box called Attachments, with "File / Picture Attachments" to the left. When you attach something in this box, files or pictures or whatever, what do you do, when the message is posted and readable on the forums, to see these attachments, open them, etc? If someone attaches a ZIP file, how do I open it? Etc. Thanks for replying anyways N_O_Body, either you misunderstood the query or I didn't explain well - hence this post.

I'm sorry, but your post didn't help at all... "other people's files?" Well, any files they've attached - like when you enter a file in the "attach" thingy in the posting window... In any case, they aren't at all, and I've checked my IE settings, pop-ups are allowed. "Yours will pop up when you post it." ... don't really understand that last bit... Sorry to be so dim, but I can't help it...

Christ... That's gotta be simultaneously the ugliest murders ever, and the stupidest [edited for language-91] I've ever read of... Sorry if I offend anyone (not really), but there aren't any other words that can describe by loathing for that Jacks... woman. Killing four daughters with very clear and noticable wounds (strangulation marks, trauma marks on skulls) and claiming Demons had posessed them? This isn't Emily Rose for Christ sake...! First of all, a hearty welcome to ST! (Nice avatar BTW.) If your game started crashing so immediately after installing your new wireless keyboard and mouse, than it's pretty clear that's the cause if nothing else has changed. I can only think of one problem, and with it's solution: 1 - Drivers. I'm betting you needed to install some new drivers tor your keyboard and your mouse? If so, make sure they are the newest versions and get all necessary updates. If all fails, try downgrading your drivers (if you installed them with your keyboard and mouse). This works a large amount of the time for me... In the end, if all fails, you could just revert back to your old keyboard and mouse, as they were apparently working fine. Additionally, you could contact Customer Support of your keyboard / mouse makers' website(s) and ask them what could be done to correct this. Sorry I can't help you more, hope this helps anyway... I have a problem fit to kill me. I'll start from the start. On December 11, we (my family) bought a small kitten, an all-white female. My brother named her Budweiser. I strove to lynch him. All was well for the first day or two, though I noticed, knowing several other cats, that this one seemed remarkably, if not unusually, calm and inactive. I thought she was just lazy... turns out she was sick... Personally, I didn't actually notice anything that clearly made her sick at the time, but in retrospect I realize she hadn't eaten at all in three days, yet was still using the litterbox regularly. I didn't think anything was really wrong... Then Sunday morning I found her, after a lengthy search, sprawled behind the couch. I cried for about an hour (I truly love animals), and that very night we went to get a new one. We returned to the same petstore, and the owner showed us his cats. They were all healthy and active, I saw for myself. We bought a new one - a sibling of the original in fact, same litter. Also white. This one seemed much more fiesty than the first, running all over the place, crashing into - and down from - furniture. Everything was fine - she ate like a frickin' pig - until she stopped eating. I thought she had just lost appetite, Then, next morning she started vomiting all the time. That's when I started to panic, and she started getting really weak, losing weight fast. We took her to the vet, but unfortunately the vet couldn't find what was wrong, other than having lost much of her weight and simply refusing to eat. She also gave us some medications to try and revive her a bit. That night the cat became weaker and weaker, to the point she couldn't even stand anymore but collapsed on her legs. We force-fed her the stuff the vet told us to give her, but she didn't take it at all, and began to regurgitate it, actually choking on it. Getting weaker all the time. I set her in my room, on a warm pad, and tried to make her as comfortable as she could be. She vomited several more times. I then retired to watch TV, for she seemed to eat a bit... When I went to my bedroom for the night, I found her in her death throes. I held her in my arms as she twitched and jerked, still choking on the stupid meds. Then she finally stopped breathing. Time of death: 10:30 PM, Wednesday. Only three or four days after her sister had died. I kinda got depressed for several days following that. (Two cats in less than a week, quite a blow.) And then, yesterday (December 23), we got another cat. Same litter, I think, as the other two, though this one wasn't white but all sorts of colors, like a mutt if you wish. Still beautiful though. She has been all right ever since yesterday, but now I'm noticing she hasn't eaten since this morning. I refilled her food with fresh and changed her water, no effect. The first two cats that died, were no older than 9 weeks old - barely over two months. I still think that might have been a bit young to wean then away from their mother. The one I currently have seems a bit more robust and larger than the other two had, though I still think they were all three from the same litter. I don't know if she's gotten the same ***** thing as the other two, and if she has, I want to know what the hell is is before it kills her too. As guidance for anyone trained medically reading this, I believe I may have caught the same thing as the other cats, which may be bacterial or viral. That night I shivered violently and uncontrollably in my bed ever though I was steaming under my covers. The next morning I felt dangerously weak, like I weighed twice my usual weight. Wow... Thanks for replying so much guys... I can't deny I was touched... Current Situation: The cat I have now, the multicolored (almost ugly), is thankfully healthy and still as active - and mischevious - as ever. I realized she wasn't eating as much simply because her new food is some veterinary special "convalescance" food that's about 5 times as rich and nourishing as regular stuff. Also, I believe I may have found the problem... We changed food from the second (dead) kitty to the new, third. She hasn't started falling ill yet, so chances are it was either the food, or the litter that had somehow gotten contaminated. I finally believe the great scare may finally have passed, yet it would be rude the the extreme point to ignore your comments and suggestions so I'm answering them here. Pray have patience, it's long. SkiGeek: Ah, Cyber-Mom to the rescue! 1) Of course, there are a crapload of things that could make them sick - but I keep all obvious chemicals and toxins well out of their way, high in cabinets with closed doors. 2) We have no houseplants. 3) No mousetraps. 4) As stated above, he's now eating vet special food, and so-far is perfectly healthy, thank God. The other two were eating some sort of "Nutrience" kitty kibble (Wouldn't know the English version, I'm in the heart of French Québec). Anything's possible of course, but I think it's unlikely. All the cats in the place, including the cat family these three come from, all seem perfectly healthy, if not even a little chubby. Definately no lack in energy either, though this could maybe be explained by the fact that they're confined to 3x3 cages... ;} 2) I've rechecked the house after reading this, and anything on ground level that's in reach of the cats has indeed been checked, but it's all wooden tables or metal appliances so there aren't anything wrong there... other than a few bits of dust... gotta get cleaned... As for the vet, I simply took the cat to the nearest vet clinic. It's quite small, only two or three rooms, but it's squeaky clean and has many high-tech devices. It's also approved by the Vet's Board, so it's not too shabby... The vets themselves are fairly good, she started talking about God-known-which diseases and I found myself staring at my thumbs rather glazedly for a half-hour before she was over. Holy heck... that's one cool tranway! It seems you may have missed some dependencies or something... by the looks of it, you have the model - polygons and all - but not the textures... maybe check if you've got all necessary files, if any? Of course, it's possible it normally looks like that... though I wouldn't count on it... Hope this helps.

There aren't any limits to what different street and road types can carry in volume - they could potentially carry infinite traffic... Their limits are their capacities before they get clogged with traffic... You really have to use only common sense here... example, 1000 cars a day would be hell for quiet countryside streets, but would only be a trickle on a highway... I'm sorry, there really isn't any answers clear to this... As I said, there are no concrete limits as to the capacity, it all depends on how much congestion occurs... Hope you understand. As to the data you might have seen, I unfortunately have no idea what that could have been.

I've got an example to share with you all... I've heard once of a pedophile that had sexually (how else?) abused a friend's daughter, and got caught and sent into the slammer for a number of years. The thing is, when the guy's sentence was drawing to a close and he would soon be liberated, he actually pleaded with the authorities not to let him out, because he knew that he would just go and do it all again. From what I heard, he actually cried and begged them on bended knee not to let him out, he was scared crapless he would do it again and hurt kids. He knew himself well enough to know he wouldn't be able to control himself. I'm kind of filled with mixt feelings with this guy, but surprisingly, anger and hate are two emotions I'm not feeling at all. I actually sympathise with the guy, because he understands fully he's got a problem and can't control it, it controls him. I actually take him into pity - even though I might not actually become his friend... or let him anywhere within fifty miles of my own kids if I ever have any... Just to give you something to think about...
