  1. What was your first ever game & your gaming history?

Probably about 15 years (around when I was 3 or 4) ago I played Tetris or Duck Tales or Castlevania (not sure which was first, but it had to be one of those 3) on the Gameboy. These days I play Sim City 4 and World of Warcraft. Yes, I play both. WoW doesn't quite consume all of my free time .
  2. LBMaM Sault Ste Marie Civic Parking lot

Looks good. Plain is fine (and actually good, imo) for a parking lot. My only complaint is the outside edges seem to be a lot of wasted space. It seems that people usually try to cram as many cars as they can into a given area when making a parking lot. And it looks boring. (the emptiness that is) Other than that, I really like it.
  3. Why should Sim City have to be based on modern countries in today's world. What about Sim World, why can't it be different? Thanks for providing us with an alternate population scale and new challenges. Should be fun to play with.
  4. This game is so wierd!

Sims will drive a long way to get to work. Your problem may not be in the distance, but rather in the availability of jobs for different wealth levels. If rich people can't find jobs they'll leave. Are you having problems with all sims (R$, R$$, and R$$$) or just a certain group? If it's just one group, it's probably a job thing. Job buildings(I and C) provide mostly R$ jobs, then R$$, and a few R$$$. This goes for all wealth levels. So you may just need more jobs.
  5. How much recreation is needed?

hmm...yeah. I don't think you're going to make enough money from that neighborhood to support all those parks AND all the other stuff.
  6. Alanuk by blade2k5

Next time I start a new region, I'm using this map. Lots of flat land to build on, with plenty of rivers and hills to keep things interesting. Exactly the thing I spent a long time searching this site for, but never could find. 10/10
  7. How do i expand my city ?

Yes, start a neighbor city. Don't think of the individual cities as different 'games' but instead think of the different regions as different 'games.' Every city plays a part in the region, and when you've got more cities, you can go back to other cities, and things will change based on demand and stuff. So it's all the same game, really.
  8. Can Sims work in a different region?

Sims can travel to different cities within a region, but they cannot travel to a different region.
  9. How do I build these?

Um...what is it that you want to build?
  10. Identical Subarbs and Neighbourhoods

Zoning 1x1 light residential will get you a lot of houses that, while maybe not exaclty identical, will be very similar. Some tilesets are better than others for that. If you need to, you can use the 'make historical' button on the houses you like, while demolishing the others and waiting for them to grow back, hopefully as the house you want. There's also the plop mod(https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?p=details&id=183), you have to be carefull with that, though. You need to place residential buildings on land that is already developed, so that they will function properly.
  11. Question On Streets In SC4

Are you talking about that "Roads rule in *city name*, but streets becoming endangered" message? I always ignore that. Or is it something else? Either way, just play the game your way and ignore the advisors.
  12. Taxes: simoleons taxed per sim and per sim job

Somehow you came up with less money for CO $$$ than CS $. You might want to figure out what went wrong there...
  13. Links to reallly cool buildings

Check these out, too: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword=ks%5FJPN&view=all This guy is really good.
  14. Large Water Tower

Looks great, but $500 a month for twice the water? That's 10x the price for 2x the water. :(
  15. Favorite SC4 Music Tracks

I like epicenter, and also all of the orchestral songs from RH. There isn't any song that I don't like, though.
  16. Cities over 100k

First, get rid of those clinics, build more hospitals. Hospitals are more efficient, and clinics seem to cause problems for bigger cities. Have you been replacing old power plants? Over time, they get old, and then they produce less power for MORE money! Same with water.
  17. Show us your City's Details/Close-ups!

Alright, time for me to get back to my favorite topic...(I've been without internet for a while...I also wasn't playing sim city, but as soon as I came back to ST I wanted to play again) More parks! (why do I like parks so much?) A little area by the new university. I haven't quite finished building this area, it'll be nice when it's all done. And these two parks were fun to build: I'm trying to make as many parks as I can for this city.
  18. Funding optimizer mod

I wouldn't call it lazy...some people dont' like the huge amount of micro-management that SC4 has. And I don't think he wants to use the money park...he said he didn't like cheats. But there is no mod like that, I'm pretty sure of that. I think it would be good if the game included an option to do that, as it would the game much more enjoyable for many people, while still allowing people like me to control every little thing in the city.
  19. Newbie here, please help. :)

Hmmm...most downloads are RH only...I'm not exactly sure what is and isn't compatible with the original...it's too bad you can't use the NAM. But...I can help with the terraforming... First push 'g' to turn on the grid so you can see what you're doing. Then select the level tool and then push "SHIFT" + any number, lower ones(like 1-3) will give you more precise control.
  20. When should I worry about Aesthetics?

Hmm... Look around on the forums for ideas - that's the best thing to do, I think. Look in the "Show us your..." topic in the City Building forum, especially stuff like "accomplishments" and "creative transportation networks." I'm just now getting to the point where I can make a nice city, after about two years of playing. This forum has really helped, there's a lot of great city makers here - it's a great place for ideas and inspiration!
  21. Show us your City's Details/Close-ups!

Wow, so many great cities! Fox, that's an awesome low-wealth area! soldyne, I love that shopping area with the pond. And I've got more pictures, too. I think I'm addicted to this topic now... Here's a few pictures from what I tried to build yesterday, but my game crashed, so I rebuilt and expanded it today. Lot's of PEG stuff.

All of these pictures are great! I've got some more from another city of mine: Here's an intersection...thing. I'm trying to make the big avenue have no intersections...no lights! Here's a high school... And last...a park! I like parks... I'm always looking for parks and stuff that will make my cities look better. I'll replace the parks in the center of the pond with the next mayor statue. edit:BAH. I made a nice area using peg's stuff, forests, trails, and stuff...and I would have had some pictures that would be perfect for this topic, but my game crashed...after all that work...
  23. Show us your City's Details/Close-ups!

Okay, here's on of my cities. A couple of parks and the City Hall.
  24. Yeah, it's really the only way to get through my Landmarks menu with the Plop Mod...and my parks menu just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
  25. Where do you download stuff to?

The plugins folder. I think most people use the one in "My Documents\SimCity 4" but that doesn't seem to work for me, so I use the one in "C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4"
