  1. More hotels to look at! The first one was an early building made in BAT but updated once the BAPlus tool arrived! It's a SAS Hotel and is a quite simple building; ...and the second one was built at the end of my BAPlus career! It's a hotel built for the Expo Scandinavia in Olympia; align=baseline> Both of them built on a 3x3 tile!
  2. Date: 8/28/2005 7:19:09 PM Author: Cjah I can only say this about your work,,,,You are some kind of god! How and why can't we just make a simpler bat tool? Look at all your glorous works! Is it or I mean was it that easy to make this stuff in SC3000?You are making baters like DT and Cobb look bad with your details and buitifully realistic buildings. I am posting mainly to tell you how good these last few buildings have been and so you can post more....um do you fast food places in your Bap gallery? quote> Well, you can't really compare BAT/BAPlus with SC4's BAT tool. It was easier to build up complex structures using the lego-pieces or blocks as it really were, but a lot was achieved if you also had an eye for details. And further more, if you were able to create your own paints, details and props there wasn't actually any limitations any longer! Of course, a bit of imagination and a creative mind helped out too! As for fast food restaurants, I believe I made a McDonalds but I can't find that file right now. Have to dig a bit deeper in my shelves! But perhaps this culture center from Olympia will do; align=baseline> It's supposed to store a library - among other things!
  3. Date: 8/28/2005 7:12:00 PM Author: Andreas Roth Man, I wish I had internet access in these days... I played SC3000 quite a lot (not that much as SC2000 or SC4, but besides Transport Tycoon, it was my 'one and only' game), but never saw such beautiful BATs/BAPs. I'm amazed you were able to create such detailed buildings, despite of basically having just a 'LEGO set' with some blocks in various shapes. I'd really like to see some of them transformed into SC4 BATs... quote> Thanks! Actually, there were quite a lot of activities as far as BAT/BAPlus production concerns back in those days! Apart from my site, SimGothia, which was the only site that handled buildings from one artist only, there was also Freeland and Sim Architect - both of them which functioned as collaborations between several artists. Anyway, my first extra ordinary building was built once the BAPlus tool was released - which replaced the previous BAT tool, and introduced props as part of the building items to use - and I decided to build a downtown block of some sort! Well, it was a bit odd, all in concrete as I choosed for it! You'll be the judges; Hmm, not all concrete though! I forgotten about that white building upfront!
  4. A small, but older, bus depot that I used in the outskirts of Olympia. Wasn't any regional possibilities available with SC3K, but the maps allowed for big cities to be built! As can tell I made buses also back then, both as props and as details! These buses are details, that is; building blocks with textures attached to them - unlike props which worked the same way as props in SC4!
  5. Date: 8/28/2005 6:22:17 PM Author: vester_DK You have be doing a lot of buildings. Just keep the coming. I might note post everytime I'm by, but I have been by several times.quote> Yeah , eventually I got the speed up! Still, like with SCURK it took me awhile to actually start using the BAT/BAPlus tool, but once there it was really fun! And since you kindly replied, (it looks a lot better with at least one reply between my own postings in this thread ), I can continue with yet another image; Any realistic city needs hotels, gas stations, restaurants, stores, and so on! So why not combining a multitiled lot with all of these services? This particular lot, a 9x9 in size, was based upon a real life building in Sweden, the EuroStop, offering both hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and shopping opportunities in one place! This is certainly a building I'd like to see in SC4! Inspirational enough to any of you BATters out there?
  6. Date: 8/28/2005 5:11:32 PM Author: 1dera3 Played SC3KU for 3 years, never downloaded or modded a thing. Boy, was I missing out. These lots look better than some in SC4! quote> Yeah well, even though SC3K was a great game, SC4 is still far better when it comes to city building! Now, great to get a new reply allowing for me to post yet another image from the SC3K-days! Can't say I made that many skyscrapers but a few saw the light of the day, like this Bank of America building - which is pure fictional, might I add! And the reason for this lack of production was simple; I built a european city! Besides, a lot of them BAPpers out there provided the official exchange with thousands of skyscrapers, so there wasn't really any more need for them!
  7. Date: 8/28/2005 2:31:38 PM Author: AgentUhOh7 Woah!  These are AWESOME SC3k buildings!  Way better than anything I created, or maybe I just can't compare, because I mostly made smaller buildings, such as my infamous 'Lego'-themed buildings (available on the old SimCity.com exchange). Though it was nowhere near as flexible as gmax, it sure made BATting quick and easy!quote> Yeah, BATting or BAPping was quick and easy! The time consuming part was to create paints, details, and props in order to customize the buildings even more! , and give them a personal touch to it! My biggest project was the Notre Dame which was a challenge not only due to its size, (two 5x5 lots), but because of the block counting I had to do in order to make those two lots fit together! Still, I managed to count wrong the first time and that resulted in the second lot to have one of the walls placed one block from the correct one! Awful lot of work to repair that mistake! It was the first multitiled building I ever created - and I were to create a few more after that one! Here it is; align=baseline>
  8. Well, don't take this as a start-up signal for a 100% functional OlympiaBussar WorkShop again! It's merly a way for me to determine which particular skins are most desirable among SC4-players these days. It could be one typ, but also all of them. I just want to know so it'll be a bit easier once I'm into the WorkShop thing again I mean! Anyway! There are four images below showcasing examples of my work so far! They include buses, trains, trams, and aircrafts. Please vote for the type of model you prefer to have more options available, such as more skins! If you prefer more options for all models, please vote for the fifth option, (All Models) Vote 1 Bus Models https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Poll1.jpg align=baseline> Vote 2 Train Models Vote 3 Tram Models https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Poll3.jpg align=baseline> Vote 4 Aircraft Models https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Poll4.jpg align=baseline> Vote 5 All Models
  9. Date: 8/28/2005 1:08:37 PM Author: toxicpiano they look like croydon trams, see the london underground sign on the station platform?quote> Well, not exactly! The transit authority in Gothenburg used to have that symbol! But it's close though!
  10. Date: 8/28/2005 1:05:43 PM Author: sandrasim1 This brings back a lot of memories. I would love to have those trams in SC4 if it's possible. They come from my hometown so it would be great if they could be made to work with GLR(ground light rail). Swedish or scandinavian residential buildings are some of the things on my to-do-list when I have finished my current projects so I will probably have a go with some of these buildings or something similar later this autumn. quote> Your hometown? Are you from Gothenburg too? [:0] That's where I live - although I'm currently spending time also in
  11. Date: 8/28/2005 12:52:10 PM Author: tchntm43 S.A.C., now that you mention Sim Gothia, I remember you. Sorry 'bout that. :-) Your SC3K BAT and BAP buildings are excellent. I tinkered with the program a little, but I got frustrated with the limitations pretty quickly. I did I few buildings with SC3URK, most notably a building from Minneapolis with reflective glass and all (I couldn't find any screenshots, unfortunately). I'm not sure why I stopped; maybe that was when Diablo 2 came out. I am picking up with SC4 now, though (I'm late, I know). I have almost finished by 5th building, though I haven't posted any here yet. I will look for Stephen's SC4 buildings. I remember his NYC set for SC2K being my favorite for that game. -Justin Smithquote> It's okey! As said, it's soo many years ago since back then. I don't think none of the following sequel communities comes even close to the activities during the SC2K-era! Just look at all the sites that were out there! Simply amazing! I'm glad I was able to be part of that era - although I wasn't really part of it from the very beginning, at least not as an active member! Like most people I lurked around and downloaded all the SCURK's I could find! Funny you should mention the frustration with the BAT and BAPlus tool! What most people doesn't realize is that all SCURK's were hand drawn by excellent artists out there, something that allowed them to create whatever they wanted - as long as they had the talent. With the new BAT and the BAPlus tool all of a sudden there were limitations since an artist was limited to what the tools themselves could provide. It became a lot easier once more people learned how to draw props using a paint program of some sort. I know I wouldn't have been able to produce good quality buildings if I hadn't been able to draw my own props for them! A knowledge for which I still thank CouchPotatoe! She sure encouraged me! Now, as I received a reply I can post yet another BAPlus image - yet another from the great exhibit Livin'2002! This time a hotel, Hotel Expo Scandinavia! align=baseline> Again a so called multitiled lot, made out of three 5x5 lots into a 5x15 large one! This one was also improved using the SC3URK-tool before finally placed in Olympia!
  12. Date: 8/28/2005 12:19:59 PM Author: Hanson784 It's wonderful to see some of the great SCURKer's have stuck with the series throughout the years. Some are even continuing to make custom buildings for the community today. Thank you for all your wonderful creations you made for SC2000. I wonder if there is anyone else from the SCURK or BAP community here. It's too bad Lee Sojot didn't make the transition to SC4...or maybe he did. Maybe he
  13. Date: 8/28/2005 11:44:41 AM Author: debussyman This is so impressive, so many memories... I never modded my SC3k, I tried on the BAApp but I totally sucked on it. I never downloaded anything, I really dont know why, I mean, never got curious about entering sc3k custom content pages, neither I knew about the existance of them. I would have liked to know back then...quote> I think that goes with each SimCity game! Many of those contributing to SC2K never moved on to SC3KU - especially due to the fact that they found the new sequel lacking a lot of possibilities - mainly considering the BAPlus tool compared to the SCURK tool! It should be mentioned that even though the BAPlus tool made it possible for anyone to start BAPping regardless of background knowledge or anything, it still had its issues - especially when inserting custom buildings into the game, buildings that somehow looked less sharpened compared to the in-game ones! However, this issue - for most of us - was solved once the SC3URK tool was released! It allowed for us to work with building files in a paint program - something that made it possible to add shadows and other realistic touches to our work! At least I used that tool a lot to improve my buildings. Images presented within this thread are from the BAPlus tool - before I started working on them using the SC3URK tool! Moving on, as mentioned earlier about the lack of European buildings, it was as important to add also old European buildings to the game. One example is this 5x5 tiled building that worked as a commercial building; align=baseline>
  14. Okey, don't want to spam my own thread, but since there are quite a lot of images to post I prefer to make new posts for them! Another thing that SC3KU lacked was European residential buildings. At least Scandinavian ones! So, to somewhat solve that I made a number of them for the final Expo Scandinavia's Exhibit; Livin'2002 - the final exhibition before I moved onto SC4 instead! Below is a typical Swedish residential housing. It's a 3-lot compilation, (3x3), making it a 3x9 tile in total; Still, I do believe that SC4 lacks a lot of typical European residential buildings! Perhaps this one can serve as an idea!
  15. Date: 8/28/2005 8:27:15 AM Author: Cjah I never had the honor to play Sc3000 but it looks like I missed alot of stuff.I guess maybe I shouldn't have spent 6 years playing Sc2000.... Anyway anyone of those Bap's(? I'm not too sure if thats how they were called)would be an awesome addon to SC4 even that tram station looks better then some of the stuff we got(No offense to the GLR people or any tram lovers...) right now... So hopefully more baters will learn from the bapers....(if thats how they were called)quote> In fact, most of the SC2K SCURKers never gotten around to move onto SC3K, let alone doing stuff for the game! Among those who actually did a few buildings was the well known excellent SCURK artist Lee Sojot! It should be common knowledge to recognize such an artist within the SimCity community! Found some more BAPlus lots referring to the Tram Transportation Theme. I made several different ones to be used in my city, mostly by adding different buses and/or changing the surroundings slightly - along with the actual track pieces that is! And as mentioned before, the tram system in Olympia was the only tram system ever implemented in SC3K - yet only a visual thing for the sake of realism!; All of them produced for the Expo Scandinavia's Transportation Exhibit!
  16. This one is interesting, because to my knowledge it's one of few that exists as both a SC4 version and a SC3KU version - along with the orginal made in SCURK for SC2K - if not the only one! I'm sure some of you may recognize it; Although not needed to be BATted I still thought it could be nice to show it!
  17. Date: 8/28/2005 7:45:57 AM Author: 6underground Well, Ikea and Knorr are pronounced differently in the U.K so it was a bit of a surprise when we were all eating dinner and we happened too mention knorr, that the whole thing came up. They were absolutely lovely though, we exchanged (pardon the pun) lost of ideas and bad swear words. They're probably in Sweden using bad Welsh words, and here i am thinkinh of bad Swedish ones. Good experience none-the-less. Sounds like you had a great time! Date: 8/28/2005 7:45:57 AM Author: 6underground Your GLR Pics (over in the BAT thread)are highly interesting, more over the ones with the overhead wires, which currently GLR lacks, however i'm investigating the issue right now, perhaps i may be able too add over head wires, i guess i'll find out soo enough. It's sort of been done before, i know Frogface has some overhead GLR Wires, incomplete, but still very impressive. though i do prefer the style in thos pics. See what i can do. Looking forward to whatever you may come up with! Date: 8/28/2005 7:45:57 AM Author: 6underground sorry for hijackign your thread Don't worry! I sense we needed to get on a better foot with each other! reaches out with my hand...
  18. Sounds like a bad exchange student to me! Not sure what he ment by Knorr though! It's a Brand for food and such, but with some imagination he could also have ment something else! Like I said, a BAD, very BAD exchange student!
  19. Date: 8/28/2005 6:37:03 AM Author: 6underground Sure that's possible, one option is too change the verticles via the .DAT in ilive reader, or by importing an already made gmax/s3d model into the .DAT. quote> Oh, there's something new to learn everyday! Date: 8/28/2005 6:37:03 AM Author: 6underground I thought htose trams looked familiar, i have a friend living in Gothenburg. Alskling! (sp) Kungen Av Wales ;-)quote> Alskling! You do realize what that means? If I didn't know better I'd say you're making a move at me!
  20. Date: 8/28/2005 12:06:19 AM Author: tchntm43 Wow, nice remake of the Tom Nillesen tile. You must have been from way back in the day. If you went by a different name back then and were active on the sc3000.com site, I might have known you. On that subject, how about some Lee Sojot remakes? Or Wren Weburg or Stephen McGlen? :-) -Justin Smith (another old SCURKer from that time) I changed it to S.A.C eventually but that must have been somewhere around 1998. Can't remember what I used before that. And you should remember my name as I was active on the sc3000.com site, but then again - it's a while ago! Perhaps it comes back to you if you remember Les Freeman? He eventually put all his work with SCURK Mountain Home and the SCURK Library in my hands and former Gothia! Still, I do remember you though! Speaking of Stephen McGlen, you do know that he's here as well? Moving on; Just as with SC4 today there was an urge to give SC3KU/WE a more European feel among some BAPpers. Especially I myself did what I could to create both commercial and residential buildings with a European touch for my city. Here's a 5x5 commercial block for the downtown area; A large department store in other words!
  21. Date: 8/27/2005 8:12:15 PM Author: xiziz Vaken
  22. An example of a commercial offices building, based upon a SimCity 2000 SCURK by Tom Nillesen; Could fit very well in SC4 if you ask me! Anyway, time to hit the bed! More inspirational ideas for you BATters out there tomorrow!
  23. And while at the transportation theme, here is one of several different trams and tramstops - and even tram to busstop transitions - which was made for the only tram system ever running in a SC3KU/WE city! But of course, we're talking about Olympia here! ; align=baseline> This is a 3x3 lot, mainly consisting of custom props! Still, it added a lot of realism to my Olympia!
  24. Sure, I got lots of them! I made quite many BAPlus/SC3URK-files at that time! Here's a completely different lot - although as important as the first one in order to visualize a realistic city; This is, as can tell, a busdepot which was made for the first Expo Scandinavia ever taking place in the SC3KU/WE version of Olympia. I had several BAPlus-artists along with Maxis employees writing their own fictional story's related to a certain building/block from the city of Olympia! The lot itself was made of four 5x5 lots, making it as huge as 10x10 in the game! I wouldn't mind seing a BAT-version of this - or at least any kind of a busdepot for the sake of realism!
  25. Date: 8/27/2005 7:37:53 PM Author: vester_DK Date: 8/27/2005 4:34:47 PM Author: S.A.C : : Hmm, is it a better idea to combine the El Train and GLR with somewhat similar models, or should similar models be combined with normal train and El Train?  Or doesn't it matter really!  I mean one type of model for Trains, one for El Trains, and one for GLR? I haven't been able to actually have a closer look at this NAM and what it provides due RLS issues!quote> The GLR is an grounded version of the elevated rail as CDB wrote, so any trains for elevated rails shows up on the lightrail tracks and the other way around. At the moment I'm  working on making a 3d-model, what programs to use and how to get it into the reader. When that is done my plan is to do a version of the eurotram. If I can make that happen finding a way to modifed the 3d-models in another program, I'm will use the reader to add some extra points to pitero's model so it get's a more round  front. That be 6 extra points.quote> Sounds very interesting!
