  7. Russia Had Caught Dubai "bug"

Norway is a tinny country sitting on huge supply of oil and gas as well as other resources, and so although to much smaller extend is UK, but that is coming to the end soon (in UK case).quote> How exactly do you define "tiny"? Norway is larger than Japan, Japan is larger than the Marshall Islands and Luxembourg is larger than the Cook Islands. If you compare Russia to any nation, its going to be larger than every other nation on (so far as my Geography knows, perhaps Canada is just as large?) The last time i looked Russia was hardly devoid of resources but, it is the government who has chosen not to exploit those resources for the people of Russia but, instead (as in Putin's case) seems to be WHOLLY concerned with becoming a "superpower" at the expense of the people of Russia. Also in case of those mentioned countries there is no such a monumental system shift and stress as occurred with Russia so comparison is largely irrelevant. quote> In what way was I making a comparison of Russia's resources or shifts of government focus? What I objected to was the implied conceit that democratic-socialist nations in the west are not only "wrong" but are some how responsible for people forgetting how to take responsibility for their actions. As for socialist and democratic or not so, how would you call all those "suggestions" where private individuals should put their money - democratic and capitalist? and would you call government that takes it's country into a war against will of majority of public, fabricates false reasons for that war, and then simply hashes things when all the lies finally became documented and try, like a common con-man substitute other "noble" reason - would you call this government truly democratic?quote> I assume you are referring to the United Kingdom (as a democratic socialist state)? Democracies are no infallible, they are capable of making bad judgments and bad decisions but through elected representitives that guarantee fair representation. This is NOT the case in Stalin/Lenin Communist Russia, where the general populace were barred from representation in government. There is a massive difference between COMMUNISM and SOCIALISM. I'd gladly pay more taxes for "free" healthcare and education than be at the mercy of a wholly capitalist state devoid of ethics and principles who's sole agenda is for profit and greed. As for the issues of war, as Belfastuniguy pointed out, if the people were so dissatisfied with the actions of the government, they wouldn't have re-elected them! Protesters on the streets are NOT indicative of a national majority. Remember that
  8. Russia Had Caught Dubai "bug"

uh Simfox, what is with the anti-democratic socialist countries in the West?Have you looked at nations like Sweden, Norway and the UK? I don't think they are doing economically bad at all It isn't the idea that is bad, it is the people behind the idea that abuse/ruin it. =/
  9. Cities Unlimited

I hope those worlds are customizable/moddable I would love to plan out my continents and islands for my world. Is it like an extended/updated region play? 1 pixel = 1 SC4 medium map? *interesting*
  10. Regional Play

I could see a 'clan' based multiplayer... that'd be awesomequote> I would love for something like that for the SCJU.
  11. New Battle Star Galactica

"Razor" is a mini-series in itself, it wont be in-between episodes of flash gordon as 5 min clips (only the teasers). It will air in two halves in November. Source: http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Razor

  13. Save Simtropolis on Wikipedia!

Thanks to me putting my name, I might get suspended from Wikipedia! Arrgh!quote> For what? Brining it to people's attention? Good God, talk about an ego trip for some of them! Seriously, there was nothing in your first post that even remotely supported spamming the discussion page or to gain keep votes. Further more you went as far as to ask people to provide a good reason for their objection. Seriously, "Wiki Admins", you are only reinforcing the "Essjay" event.

Day: You mean this: http://simcity.ea.com/community/fansites/fansites.php - Official SC4 website owned by EA/Maxis (Right at the top, with description)
  15. Save Simtropolis on Wikipedia!

As for the faking stuff - it's a not single site that have tried such things in the past, 100s have tried it. In one AFD I was involved in, editors were phoned at home by people claiming to be EU officials (which they were not).quote> That's pretty bad, but still equally bad that everyone is tarred with the same brush. To reiterate, its NOT my opinion that Simtropolis has some 140,000 members, nor am I selling it to you. What I am saying (non opinion) is that Simtropolis roughly has 140,000 members (check membership stats on this site). Again, I'm sure that's completely unacceptable, even though its the source. But, isn't it therefore possible that an "independent" site claims simtropolis has "135,000 members" and we (hypothetically of course) but we falsified that data. The aren't you bound by those rules to accept that independent finding, since you aren't allowed data from the source? ergo, both would be incorrect, since you wouldn't be able to prove or disprove that the numbers are incorrect?

So the French can't contibute to the France article? Or the Dubai workers to Burj Dubai?quote> Really good point. As Day said, we aren't even permitted to provide forum membership as evidence of popularity and notability because, somewhere in the past someone from a different forum falsified theirs. In essence, EVERYONE is tarred with the same brush. How charming..

We don't have senior members - there are pretty much only two classes of editors - general editors (like me) and a few people who have a couple of extra buttons called admins.quote> There's always a hierarchy in any organisation such as Wikipedia. Yes, I'm sure it's "meant" to be only two classes of editors. The reality however is often different. Love the ending sarcasm btw. Which is why wikipedia is evidence-based - the article does not current contain any evidence that this site is notable in any way. That's the only thing we can currently judge the article on.quote> For Three times? Well the article has existed for over a year (????), plenty of time for people to add such material.quote> Oh, you mean like this one. Yet, that hasn't been put up fr deletion 3 times. Perhaps the fact your admins consistently want the article deleted is indicative proof of its notability considering the frequency of it. This is not meant as an insult - 100s of articles are created every day where someone claims that something is the biggest, best, most notable X on the web (I am making no comment on this site, just explaining how things operate at wikipedia) - but how do we judge this? with reliable sources.quote> Normally, I would agree with you. But, you'd have to be living under a rock to notnotice Simtropolis' prominence in the simcity community. JUST recently, This sites admin and a senior moderator was invited by EA Games and Tilted Mill to an exclusive gathering to discuss SC: S. The next installment of the Simcity Franchise? I mean seriously, How much more prominent has this site go to be? Will Wright personally vouching for it, before its understood? if such sources exist - add them and the AFD is over - it's that simple. If nobody adds such sources, it will be removed.quote> Question: If its so simple, then why don't the people wishing the article to be deleted, not go and prove that the article should stay? Instead of relying on the contribution of a stranger at some point in the future? a) it is the largest on the web (if you wish to make that claimquote> I do, now since I know Wikipedia admins are incredibly pedantic. How about you prove my comment false and provide me with a Simcity 4 organisation that is larger and outwardly more prominent? You have less than one year.. That is notablequote> Does an official invitation from EA Games and Tilted Mill to Dirk (Site owner) count to begin with?
  18. Save Simtropolis on Wikipedia!

I encourage all ST Wikipedians to vote for ST to stay!quote> I would actually like to comment but, based on my observations of Wikipedia, they cannot handle criticisms, unfortunately.
  19. Save Simtropolis on Wikipedia!

That's a red herring in this casequote> Not really, one of your own senior members comes to these forums and starts a torrent of hostile aggression about banning people. Sure rules are rules but, this only proves the point that the vast majority of individuals working on Wikipedia in significant areas aren't really qualified to do so. Not to mention mature enough to hold the post. So it's certainly the case. that shows that it is notable in any wayquote> I beg to differ, perhaps it just shows that no-one has actually gotten around to doing so? rather than a reflection of lack of data? Also, is'nt that a highly relative term: "notable",how is it quantified and reasoned? Just because you or soem of your trigger happy admins have never heard of simtropolis does not mean Simtropolis isn't notable. Indeed, it is the largest Simcity community on the net. Fact.

You guys are doing what we in Wikipedia call canvassing, and that will get you blocked. I will go to the extra mile to get you blocked. Either stop canvassing, and get the page deleted, or you can continue canvassing, and you will be blocked. I am Jonjonbt on Wikipedia, and feel free to attack me on my talk page. It'll get you even closer to a block! Have a nice day! Jonjonbt PS... I know a few admins who can block you...quote> LOL, No wonder wikipedia admins get into massive controversy with hostileand agressive attitude like that, check this former Wikipedia Admin Out. So, don't get to ahead of yourself Jonjonbt, Wikipedia is hardly brimming with expertly qualified admins. Too much ego I think.
  21. 7 Wonders of the SCJU

To mark this special day, many SCJU nations have come together topresent their "wonder" bids and have decided to invite the general public to vote for the "7 Wonders of the SCJU". The Candidates: Wiki Entries (Please Read) 1:Pont du Santíanne 2:Statue of Christ 3:Celtica Colossus 4:City-Ship Vekoluma 5:Catedrala da Gronda Spada 6:Millennium Arches 7:Temples of Semtania 8:Atlantian Imperial University 9:New Haven Castle 10:La Plaza de Toros del Diestrohidalgo 11:Church of St James the Martyr 12: St. Paul Cathedral The Pictures: Pont du Santianne: Pont du Santíanne is the memorial bridge of the founder of the capital of French Fallenhain: Alexandre Santíanne. With a total length of 3242 it´s the longest bridge in south Asia and even more than 400 meters longer than the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. The construction started on May 5 th in 1914 as consequence of the population boom in the bay area. The bridge includes enough steel to build the Titanic three times. The price for country and commune was 9 Billion FM ( ~2.2 Billion € ). Since the bridge opened for public traffic in 1921 no larger damages were caused to the bridge by wars, earthquakes and floods. So the question should better be whether the fact, that the bridge still exists is the wonder, and not the bridge itself. Statue of Christ A historical monument that has recently been discovered in Movia.. It's located on the top of Movia's 3rd largest mountain. Celtica Colossus Celtica Colossus is a large monument, located on the breakwaters of Rhodendron Bay, New Rhodesia City, New Rhodesia. It is amongst the oldest structures in the entire province, dating back some 1960 years. The Colossus itself is made of high quality copper (originally bronze) sheeting mounted on a frame of steel (originally wood and then puddled iron). The monument stands on a 4x4 tiered point star pedestal, symbolising a Compass Rose from the air. The Colossus stands upright, its left arm raising a torch towards the sky and its right gripping a Celtic shield. The Colossus was constructed by the Silures, a native tribe of South East Wales. City-Ship Vekoluma Zabitake's City-Ship Vekoluma, the first city known to be able to travel between planets, even to other galaxies. (Also first Vinawasho ship of any kind to travel between galaxies) Catedrala da Gronda Spada Domena Lorella puts forth the following structure to be considered for selection as one of the Seven Wonders of the SCJU, the Catedrala da Gronda Spada in the capital city of Ossian. Millennium Arches The Mellinium Arches is located in central Kraxel, the capitol of Republique du Tient. The first Arch was built in the late 1800's and finished on December 31st 1899. That night the arch was crisned the tallest structure in the entire country, and the tallest in central asia. In the 1900's Tient was a colony of the French though it was mainly British Citizens, Georgians and other tribes that lived there. Georgians had power in the area until 1698 before the French defeated them in the Georgian-French war. The arch was built to show the French governments power in the colony. It was not till 1967 that Tient won its independence as Frances power slowly faded after WWII. In 1995 parliment talked of building a second arch that would compliment its other. In 1996 parliment decided to build the second arch, but was finished two months before 2000. The monument was covered in cloth until its unveiling on December 31st 1999. To date both arches are the most visited landmark in the city and argurably in the country with over 11.5 million visitors each year. Temples of Semtania The Semtanian Temples are one of Royal Cytheria's most historic and mysterious places, steeped in history and myth it's a must see when visiting. The Temples are part of a former settlement of one of the three tribes that once ruled the former nation of Semtania, until it's integration with Cytheria. It is one of 3 historic reminders left in Royal Cytheria of Semtania and many Cytherians can trace there ancestry back to this very settlement. Constructed, approximately, in 1215AD these wondrous structures were the heart of the settlement and now only comprise of a storehouse, 2 watch towers and 3 temples. Atlantian Imperial University New Haven Castle La Plaza de Toros del Diestrohidalgo Church of St. James the Martyr The Church of St. James the Martyr, constructed 1600 - 1640, stands as a testament of Portuguese Colonial rule over Mozambique, but also serves as a symbol and reminder of the power of hope and faith. The Church was used as a sanctuary during the Mozambican Civil War, which raged from the 1970s to the mid-1990s and has withstood the test of time and abandonment. The Church, currently the seat of the Archdiocese of Maravia, was overgrown and dilapidated following its abandonment in the 90s, but has been restored to its former glory by the Elytherian Government to be entered into the SCJU Seven Wonders Competition, but also to serve as a National Symbol for the newly created nation. St Paul Cathedral The Cathedral of St. Paul is located at the banks of the Westburg Canal, situated near the Intramuros del Gobierno and the Albert Fishing Village. This edifice is the oldest Catholic church built in Nivramel, way back the early 1900 as first project of the Spanish conquerors to introduce Nivramel to Christianity. When you have finished deciding what monuments areworthy of being "wonders": VOTE HERE Thank you, to all those that vote!
