  10. Show Us Your Anti-Grid!

Check out Lucky7's tutorial in his NYC recreation CJ. It covers how to make non-gridded straight streets: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=97906&STARTPAGE=2 (It's near the bottom of the page). He's used a sheet of paper to make reference points along a straight line not on the SC4 grid. His method is considerably easier than mine. The method I used was slopes...because each tile of road is $10, it is easy enough to calculate. The problem is that it is very tedious in the beginning. Now that I've gotten the hang of it, I can spot the curve or slope required to meet up two ends of the road immediately. But this probably didn't come until 3 or 4 months of using the method extensively. It certainly requires a conceptual grasp of algebra (and maybe higher math to a lesser extent), but I would guess it's the fastest method (if you get the hang of it...)quote> Thanks! That seems like a great method. The one I usually use is I plop trees first then I use that as a guide. But my only thing is (doesn't matter what method) is plopping buildings and stuff on "curved" streets

looking pretty good. I myself love NYC, and I still get a bit.... emotional per se when I walk by ground zero. I tend to... look at the place pretty deep. I touch something and I start wondering about all the generations that had touched that same exact spot. Or I look at the beauty in the architecture.... all the classical inspirations, etc. wow... i'm rambling.

  21. Mac vs Windows

Hmm... out of both my laptop Mac and desktop PC, I tend to use my Mac way more than my pc. The software is tremendous, extremely reliable, and it revolves around me. It surpasses my expectations. In fact, I only use my PC nowadays for Simcity 4. Now that Macs have an Intel processor, Windows can now be installed on them (and surprisingly, Vista runs smoother and faster on a Mac than a PC). So as soon as the new iMacs come out (I'm hoping for summer!!!), I will replace my desktop PC with an iMac, create a small windows partition, and move my SC4 + 5gigs of plugins to it .
