Well, the masses have spoken. I was actually debating whether I should add those medium density residences before, but I decided not to. However, since it seems like a popular idea, then sure, why not? So, mayormommy, crazyarchitect, your_adress_here, Simguyuk, and marrast, thank you VERY much for your comments and suggestions! And, RadioheadFan... I thought last time I saw the YIMBY efficiency table it showed that parks do nothing to commercial desirability (niether lower nor raise). And, looking at my desirability map, it seems to confirm that. I wish I could find that YIMBY efficiency table again... Anyways. Once again, thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I think I will be able to post another update again tomorrow morning (PST). That's tomorrow afternoon for western Europe.

I like the start. I often wondered what I could do if I went back to the Maxis map... I agree, it's a pretty good map. Keep it up.

Thanks very much for your concern, oroen, Radiohead Fan, and rix10. However, this morning I put all my important files (including Nehalem) on to CDs, and then reformatted my hard drive. This, luckilly, fixed my audio driver issue. So, another update in Nehalem today. The first map shows the current zoning plan for Nehalem. The second is the future plan. Next is a little park I made... can you read what it says? I know it's kind of hard... (It says Mallow The Cloud) I also created a light rail map to show the four separate rail lines in Nehalem. Finally, I created a couple zoomed out views of Nehalem... but they're a little blurry (I had to compress them to fit them in an 800 x 600 image)... So... what do you think? As always, any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks.

I am quite glad that you enjoy what you do, Jeroni, because everybody else here does too . I love all these new more rural cities just as much as I loved Port de Soller. And Jeroni, your CJ comes very close to the beauty of the real Columbia River Gorge... if you keep it up you might just beat it ! So, as always, Jeroni, keep up the great work!

Thanks again for the comments. RadioheadFan: Hehe, yeah, those are some luxurious student accomodations. But, hey, it is one of the things that attracts students to the University of Nehalem. SC4 meister and Death Reaper: Thanks again for your great comments! Unfortunately, my computer is giving me problems again... my sound driver doesn't work, so when I try to load SC4 and it gets to the part where it's supposed to say EA Games: Challenge Everything... there is no sound, so it freezes then exits to the desktop. In other words, I can't play SC4 anymore.... I've tried lots of things, but I can't seem to get my drivers to work... I think I'll post something in the bugs and technical support section and see if anyone can help me out. In the meantime, thanks again for the support.

Wow, I'm gonna have to agree with TheGuardianAngel... that black background and the clouds give it an.... almost claustrophobic feel. It really fits in with the storyline . Keep it up.

Ooh! I love the update again... and especially that region view! I see you have done some terraforming of your own, to make that delta there. And.... I figured out it wasn't your lots that caused low desirability after all... it was a bug in my city. Sorry about the concern. Wonderful, and as always, keep up the great work, Jeroni!

Ooh, lots of responses. Alright, where to start. The person who lacks a name: As previously stated, I grew a very large city and placed it next to Nehalem temporarily. This way, I get lots of demand for whatever I need. I will slowly be removing the temporary city as Nehalem grows. mentarman: lol, those Stay puffed Marshmallow Men are Mallow the Cloud (Mallow Nimbus) from Super Mario RPG. fivedayrental, dhoppeii, RadioheadFan, The boy formerly known as Evil Muzz, FosterK, mentarman, whatdoisay: Thank you all for your great comments! I love hearing from so many people. I know I can never make something as well as Jeroni, but he does inspire many ideas... so I hope it's worth making this CJ. Anywho, the next update is here. Mostly, I planted new residential areas. The first images are the beach. I built a large beach (thanks to the creator of these great beaches). Then afterwards, when I received the marina prize, I plopped a few of them in there. I also built a university. The first picture is of the student housing around the university. The second is the large park I built for leisure nearby. Now that I have some residential population in my city, my light rail bridge heading in to downtown is beginning to get very crowded. And there aren't really that many residents yet! These last images are a tale of two parks. One is a small residential park with a small mayor's statue. The other is the large downtown park, with newly planted larger mayor's statue. And, I made sure to take that picture with a light rail train going through the park. Wouldn't you love to be on that train? And as always, any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks.

Date: 3/13/2005 3:10:12 AM Author: mentarman Too bad. I was enjoying this city journal. I've seen this problem a number of times on here, if you had done a search you might have found a solution short of uninstalling/reinstalling. Or perhaps you did search and there wasn't a solution. Did you back up your region before the uninstall? quote> I did look for a solution. Most of the time, it was reinstall your video card driver, which I tried. It didn't work for me though. When I uninstalled SC4, I kept Duthford. So, after I got the graphics problem fixed, I was able to edit it some more. However, it was maybe a week later that a completely different problem (a virus, I suspect) crashed my computer. I had to completely reinstall Windows. One very lucky thing was that about two days before, I had put a blank version of the region (Duthford) on a CD for my friend. So, as long as I borrow that CD from him, I can get my region back. Unfortunately, though, it's blank. So, I lost all my cities. That might not be such a bad thing, though, because I have learned a lot and I think I can improve on the cities. So, some day in the future I will try to remake Duthford, new and improved. Thanks to all that have read this journal!

Thanks for the comments! I did manage to get that problem fixed, but just as I did, my computer crashed and I lost everything. Sometime in the future, I will make a new and improved Duthford. In the meantime, I have just started a new CJ... Nehalem. I hope you visit it, and if you do, I hope you enjoy it. Thanks again.

Hey, Jeroni. I don't know if anyone has noticed this yet, but your park drastically drops desirability for commerce: Is there any way you could fix this? EDIT: So... I don't think it's a problem with your lots. I think it's a mod I have in my folder, because I deleted your park and it didn't help much. Sorry about that.

Hi! Just posting to let you know I'm still here, still reading, and still amazed by your CJ, Jeroni... I love every update, even the small ones. Just keep doing what your doing, and people will keep flocking to your CJ en masse. Though it may be redundant, it must be said: As always, keep up the great work, Jeroni!

ITS IN YOUR HANDS! The real interactive CJ
MallowTheCloud replied to x2230062's topic in SC4 City Journals
I dunno... I like three the best. I like that the University is in a Mid-Rise Residential area rather than a high rise one... and I don't like it when there are two distinct commercial districts. I like one large one, fading down... like option three! And, this CJ is great, keep it up! -
Wow, Jeroni! I love this update! I don't know why, but that zoomed out view (41.7) reminds me of playing Sim City on the Super Nintendo! So great! I wish I had the skills that you have, but then I think that would ruin the originality of your cities, Jeroni... so actually I'm glad I don't. As always, keep up the great work Jeroni! EDIT: Oh, and by the way, you are now the fifth most visited CJ on all of Simtropolis! Congratulations!

I was looking at that last post by you, Jeroni, and as I went through it I was thinking to myself, I can see those lots being useful in so many places! I hope Jeroni will release them on the STEX. Then I read that they will not, and I was disappointed. I don't have any BATing skills... so I can't make those. I do understand the reason, though, so I'm not going to bother you about it.... Besides, who needs to play SC4 when you could just look through Jeroni's CJ? As always, keep up the great work, Jeroni!

I want to compliment you again Mayor Jeroni, but every time I try to think of a word to describe you and your creations... I decide that it's not good enough. I don't think the English language has a word to describe you, Jeroni. Either that, or I just don't know it. These images you are showing us are beautiful, stunning, awesome, inspiring, great.... plus much much more. And, as I always say, keep up the great work, Jeroni.

How do I change the elevation at which SC4 imports my greyscales?
MallowTheCloud replied to MallowTheCloud's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Rubber Duck, you may be right. kingofsimcity, no, I'm sure it was white (I set the colors myself... 255 of red, green, and blue makes white). Thanks for your comments. If anybody else has any ideas, please let me know. -
About the walls... although feedback is always nice... I don't think I am able to make my final judgment until I see the fully developed area. I don't think it looks bad yet, and I don't think it looks good yet. I think it looks unfinished. I have confidence that if anyone can create something beautiful out of almost any region or area, it's Mayor Jeroni! As always, keep up the great work!

Any ideas? -
Hey, Jeroni... you scared me for a second there. But it's good to know you have some sort of backup, even if it not completely up to date. A few days ago, my computer crashed and I had to format it and start from scratch. I had backed up my music (I make midi music), but other than that I had nothing else backed up. I lost all my SC4 regions... so Duthford and Esta Yew are gone... but that's ok, they weren't that great of CJs anyway. I'm just saying, I know how it feels to lose all your data... and it sucks. But, I'm fine now, my computer runs better than ever and I have learned a lesson: Don't use LimeWire. Anyway, I'll quit rambling and say what I really came to say. Ahh, too bad they don't have llama smileys... Your CJ is amazing as ever, and as always, keep up the great work.

Hops on jugem's royal bus and takes a ride to SOUTH GEORGIA ISLAND.

First of all.... Ooh, my first forum nickname (MTC). Not only is it ok with me for you to use MTC, I feel honoured. And secondly, those previews are great. I am already wondering how you made that mountain road with the artificial land hanging off the mountain (if you know what I'm trying to say.) As always, keep up the great work.

Hey, Jeroni! Your CJ is amazing and many people look up to it for inspiration. Just thought I'd let you know that. As always, keep up the great work.

MallowTheCloud replied to MallowTheCloud's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Yeah, I know, I was kind of impatient. I could do terraforming by hand, but this is a huge region and that would just take too long. Like I said, I know this is possible, because somebody mentioned how to do it. I just don't remember where or when I saw it. So, in the meantime, I will be patient and hope somebody sees this thread who knows more than I do about it.
