Instructions: 1) Create a new folder called Cloudland in your ..My DocumentsSimCity 4Regions directory. 2) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 3) Download the cloudland.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to. 4) Run your SimCity 4 game 5) Open the Cloudland Region 6) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 7) Browse to the folder that you downloaded cloudland.jpg to, find "cloudland.jpg", and open this file. 8) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between 10 and 45 minutes. 9) Have fun! Copyrights: I don't care about copyrights. You may use this however you want, aslong as it is legal. Great job everybody, especially you RHF... you've been doing a lot of work to get our name out to the general public. One minor thing though, see the quoted post? Ya missed one MAPP Squad Map. It doesn't officially say MAPP Squad, but hey, I think we should count it anyway. And that STEX request thread is a great idea to get us more attention. So, you guys keep up the good work, and I'll keep looking for maps.
  11. Mapp Squad Guadalajara

Well, I agree, but I spent hours trying to find out where Guadalajara (the actual city itself) was, and I found out that it should be right in the center of this map. No river runs through it...

This is a map of Guadalajara, Mexico. It's scaled accurately. It's 35 by 41 km. Also, note that the water level has been fixed--as you can see, the above example image shows the water level was too high. Have fun! Instructions: (VERY important note below) If you don't have my plugins pack, download it here. 1) Place the import.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods. 2) Create a new folder called New York City in your ..My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions directory. 3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 4) Download the guadalajara.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to. 5) Run your SimCity 4 game 6) Open the Guadalajara Region 7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded guadalajara.jpg to, find "guadalajara.jpg", and open this file. 9) This should start the rendering. Date: 4/1/2005 4:49:24 PM Author: johnfalduto Would someone here please do me the favor of making a real scale region of Guadalajara? I posted a site to Mexican data here at ST and a SCC called 'Mexico DEMs'. i could also E-mail the files to anyone who is interested and will give credit to the MAPPer in my up coming CJ at SCC. BTW, I am john at SCC, the founding member of the CBIO. quote> Well, it took me about 8 hours of searching on the internet to find all the information I needed to create such a map. However, the good news is not only did I create an accurate to scale map of Guadalajara, but I now have the means to create accurate to scale maps of almost anywhere.... I think. So... I'll upload the Guadalajara map ASAP (there really aren't that many geographical features there...). MayorTim, I shall look in to that asap.

Ah, I see, thanks for the info, the_new_simman. I didn't even know that we could have our own STEX profile image. Well... RHF... you didn't really have to use that image as your avatar. If you wanted to, that's great! But... if you don't want to you definately don't have to.
  16. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

First of all, the landscape designer that comdude21 asked for is a great program for making your own custom maps! I suggest everyone in the MAPP Squad download this program, if not to create your own maps, to edit the maps and the config.bmp to make them playable. Secondly, RHF, unfortunately I think you are mistaken. When a map is an original size, you do not need to create your own custom config.bmp (although you can if you want). However, I cannot see any way that you would not need a greyscale image. In fact, I think the only way one could transfer their map without the greyscale image would be to zip the whole folder, and the file would be too big for Simtropolis to handle. If I'm mistaken, please let me know how to do it otherwise! However, I'm pretty sure this is correct. On another note, I made Duthford completely by hand. Although I didn't make it with MSPaint, I might as well have. I used iDraw Character Maker, but I used it just like MSPaint. This of course took hours to finish, so I wouldn't recommend it... unless you already have a landform in mind that you really want to recreate on SC4 (as was my case). So, good luck hand-making your own greyscale images. Finally, the_new_simman, where do we put that image? I don't understand where to put it...
  17. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to make a greyscale image out of a hand-terraformed SC4 region. IrfanView would not be of any help with that... however, it is a great program, it is free, and the only rule in the license agreement that you must follow to use IrfanView is, if you're using it for a company (to make a profit) you must pay the registration fee of $12... I think it's $12. Anyway, the program is sort of like Adobe Photoshop, except that IrfanView is missing many of Photoshop's features, and has some that Photoshop doesn't have. So, it is quite useful... you can read more about it by visiting the link in my previous post.
  18. Thistlewood

First of all, I'm just letting you know I'm still here. Though I haven't posted, I have been reading. And as always, I love the storytelling. Great job! Secondly, the Region Census program might be able to assist you in your census. It's a great program, and can be found here . Good luck!
  19. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

IrfanView looks like it can load .dwg files... might want to try that. If it does open the files, you can then just save it as a jpg or bmp. Moon Island, eh? Well, I didn't even think people would want to download that map. It's so big. But, I like it, and I'm glad other people are giving it a try. EDIT: Ah, I see you need a plugin to open .dwg files with IrfanView. Well, have no fear, the plugin is here !
  20. Straight no Chaser

Woohoo! Straight No Chaser is great jazz, as is it's creator, Thelonius Monk. I can only imagine what that parrot listened to [:)].
  21. Mapp Squad Duthford

Thanks for all the comments! This isn't the first Mapp Squad production though... the map just below this is by the Mapp Squad, and there's another one somewhere below that one too.

Hey, this thread isn't dead! Great, I hope we can get this project up and running again (I understand, though, that school can drain attention from this. School first, Simtropolis second ).
  23. Mapp Squad Duthford

    Version 1.0

This is the map of Duthford. It is a map of fantasy, and is very large. It is 60 by 36 km, so expect a very long rendering time. However, it is well worth it. This map has many types of landforms on which to build, and lots of room to do whatever you please. So, have fun! EDIT: As of 4/28/05, this file has been updated. It now requires a mod, but it is MUCH better! The new config.bmp file was specially made... it is meant for ease of change. Right now, it has four colours: red, blue, light blue, and green. If you don't like a lot of large maps, just change all the light blue to green, and only the major development areas will have large maps. Instructions: (VERY important note below) If you don't have my plugins pack, download it here. 1) Place the import.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods. 2) Create a new folder called Duthford in your ..My Documents/Sim City 4/Regions directory. 3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 4) Download the duthford.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to. 5) Run your SimCity 4 game 6) Open the Duthford Region 7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded duthford.jpg to, find "duthford.jpg", and open this file. 9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between 1 and 10 hours. 10) Have fun! Copyrights: I don't care about copyrights. You may use this however you want, as long as it is legal. Mine is taking a little more time than expected, but should be out either today or tomorrow... EDIT: Ok, my first map is finished! It's called Duthford, and was drawn completely by hand. So... it took awhile . It's here .

Date: 3/28/2005 9:37:08 PM Author: MayorTim Date: 3/28/2005 9:21:40 PM Author: ginchael Jeronij, this CJ has surpassed the famous Digby in popularity. Well done.quote> Shame on you Ginchael! You were the one who started the 'Plugging Cjs' thread, and now on the same day look what you are doing! Putting down another cj and compairing it to this one!quote> Well, I think it's alright to do what Ginchael did, because he posted a fact (more posts in this CJ than the other), and it was to compliment this CJ, not put down another CJ. If he had posted that in the Digby CJ, then it would be very rude, but as is, I think it's ok. At least, that's my opinion. Now, on to Jeroni! You have once again done an outstanding job creating.... well.... EVERYTHING! I love the stream, I love the region view--in fact, there's nothing I don't love about the update. So, congratulations on the fiftieth update! I will, of course, continue to visit this CJ, so expect more replies from me in the future. And, I definately hope you can find a way to get your cities working again. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice. Good luck! And, as always, keep up the great work, Jeroni!
