Instructions: Replace { } with actual region information. 1. Create a new folder called {City Name} in your ..My Documents\SimCity 4\Regions directory. 2. Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 3. Download the {greyscale.jpg} file and remember where you downloaded it to. 4. Run your SimCity 4 game 5. Open the {City Name} Region 6. On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 7. Browse to the folder that you downloaded {greyscale.jpg} to, find {greyscale.jpg}, and open this file. 8. This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This can take anywhere between 5 minutes and 5 hours, depending on the region size and your computer's memory. 9. Have fun! Hope this helps! And, congratulations on Fort Meyers, comdude!
  2. The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

Ahh, so this is what Big_Baazzoo meant by Moose Factory. I wish I'd seen this earlier! I hope Big_Baazzoo hasn't left us for good! Anywho, this is my first time in the Moose Factory, I think I'll go exploring.

WOW!!! I wasn't paying much attention, and didn't see the member labels... CUMULUS Map Maker!?!?!?! That's soooooooo awesome!!!!!! When I first saw that, I stood up out of my seat with a giant smile on my face! That smile is still there! Thank you to whoever is responsible.... thank you VERY much! Either somebody did some research, or somebody knows more about clouds than I thought.
  4. Sculpting Columbia River

WOW!!! So.... everything is soooo awesome!!! I feel like I'm commenting for the first time, because every time I come back there's something new! And what I love especially are the plaza, and the park. I love the way the park slopes down to the seawall... it's a lot like the Tom McCall Waterfront Park we have here in my hometown. You never cease to amaze me Jeroni! Keep up the great work!!!
  5. Official Mapping Community Requests

Ok, well I think I've made up my mind.... for Saturday, I will release NYC and Everett, Washington.
  6. Official Mapping Community Requests

Hmm... well, I created the beaches north of Sydney.... and Charizard requested a more zoomed-in version of NYC... Though, since TNS did do a version of NYC, that one is probably less urgent than the rest. And, for Saturday, I will do Amsterdam, Netherlands and Everett, Washington, and if time I will also try to do Sydney, Australia also. EDIT: I just found that there is already a great map of Amsterdam on the STEX, so no need to do that one.
  7. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

Not that I know of... I might try and see what close does... since I'm going to be updating it anyway. EDIT: About comdude's idea, I think it's a good idea.... what do you all think?
  8. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

Hmm... it looks like it didn't attach the file... let's try it again.
  9. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

Thanks to Andy80586's wonderful mod, which I didn't even find until now, I can now use greyscale bmp files to import much larger mountains!!! I think I am going to update ALL my maps to be more accurate heightwise... this is definately going to take a few days. And the other problem is that anybody who renders a map by me in the future will have to have the mod. If the mod is required for a map, I will post a link to it there. Anyway, I have attached the file to this post just in case others would like to see the possibilities of it.
  10. Official Mapping Community Requests

Indianapolis, IN mrp2005's hometown (what city is that?) These last two requests may not be finished until a couple weeks from now, but we will try to get everything done asap so we can start taking requests again.

Wow! Thanks for all those congratulations!!! Everyone here is doing a great job! If we keep this up, the MAPP Squad will be a famous name among Simtropolites to come! EDIT: I see we now have our own spot in the SimCity 4 Custom Content: The OFFICIAL MAPP SQUAD BOARD ROOM!!! Congratulations to everybody who has helped make the Mapp Squad what it is now, and a big thanks to Simtropolis and those on Simtropolis who have the faith in us to give us our section of the forums!

YAY!!! Congratulations on your 1000th post, RHF! I saw you were getting close, and was wondering whether you'd post it here, in Thistlewood, or in SCR.... ALL very deserving places for a 1000th post...
  16. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

Alright!!! The Palmetto Island region is great, and good luck with your next region! Also, I agree RHF has been doing a great job with the PR job. And, in fact, I am very impressed by the amount of activity that many on the MAPP Squad are keeping up! I love all this bustling activity, the fact that we are now organized, and the wonderful job everybody on the MAPP Squad is doing with their tasks. Anyways, I updated Guadalajara with more accurate data, and I am going to release a large, to-scale map of NYC tonight. EDIT: Actually, I'll wait 'til Saturday to do the NYC (since it was a request)... and besides, I still have a lot of work to do on it. Instead, I'll find somewhere around the world that looks interesting, and upload that tonight... And one last thing.... I am honoured to be the MAPP Squad Assistant Leader, and would be pleased to answer any questions regarding map making and MAPP Squad activity.
  17. Sculpting Columbia River

Well, I love all of your work, Jeroni! I'm not kidding, or exaggerating. It's all so wonderful, and because of that I think you should finish everything how you originally intended. So, go ahead and finish Sa Pusa... Costa Tramantura will be great, but it will be that much better if you make people wait just a bit longer Either way, though, like uncrazycooper said, I will be coming back for more!
  18. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

Hey, I love those logos! They're great, and as I don't have PhotoShop and am not a good artist, I could never make something like that. Plus, I love those fantasy maps of yours. I also like the idea of one map per person on a given day. If that turns out to be the case, I think I'll take whatever day nobody else wants... Plus, I think I'll specialize in international realistic maps, if we do end up doing the specialist thingy. What I'd really hate to see is the MAPP Squad come to an end. We have come too far, and it would just be too sad. So, I hope we can get organized and keep up this great work. Everybody here has done a great job, and I don't want anybody to forget that! Once again, GOOD WORK EVERYONE!
  19. Mapp Squad Singapore Southeast

LOL, it's ok, thanks for the comments!
  20. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

Hey, that's great! I'm glad you could get that to work... Anyway, there isn't a way to render it in the Landscape Designer. However, there is a color version of the region that saves along with the greyscale version. If you want, you can use that as the final map. It looks pretty good that way, I think.
  21. Official Mapp Squad Discussion

I agree something must be done. We need more organization. However, I disagree with this statement: 2. Nobody downloads maps anymore. I know I don't. Out of the requested maps, most of the ones that are more than a day old already have over 20 downloads. This may not seem like a lot, but keep in mind only one person requested it. Sometimes, people don't realize they wanted something until it is presented to them. So, I disagree that we should stop taking requests. I just think we should only fulfill one or two requests a day. That's my opinion...
  22. Official Mapping Community Requests

Please Read: Here are the requests which are yet to be fulfilled... Minneaoplis, MN Fort Meyers, FL Dover, MJ New York City, NY Sydney, Australia Washington, DC Amsterdam, Netherlands Las Vegas, NV Everett, WA Columbus, OH We don't mind working on all of these, and can probably finish by late tomorrow. However, two things are stopping this from happening. First of all, even if we finished all these by tomorrow, at this rate there will be 15 more maps to do by then... and we would just continue to be backlogged. Secondly, it has come to my attention that many people here at Simtropolis do not like the STEX being flooded by all these maps going in at once. So, unfortunately, and sadly, the MAPP Squad is going to have to stop taking requests until further notice. We will complete these maps in this list, and once finished we will likely start taking requests again. We are very sorry for this bad news, but please be patient and sometime in the future we will get to your map. Sincerely, Mallow The Cloud MAPP Squad member

Whoops, I forgot to change that part of the description (I copy and paste from my last Map, and it was of the "beaches north of Sydney"... I forgot to take the beaches part out)... :)
  25. Official Mapping Community Requests

Date: 4/3/2005 2:25:36 PM Author: Charizard I would like a map of New York City. What I specifically want is all five boroughs (that means Staten Island, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhatten). I want every part of the borough included in the map, not one area missing. Also, you don't have to add all of Long Island, just Queens and Brooklyn. And make sure Governers Island, Ellis Island, and Liberty Island get in there too. And just to make it look fancy (and because I live there too), include the NJ cities that border the Hudson River, which are Jersey City, West New York, and Union City, just to name a few. That's what I want. One question though, are you using USGS to make these maps, because that's what I would prefer. Thanks. EDIT: Make sure everything is to scale.quote> Well, a map of the New York City area was done, but it looks like you want a more specific one, right? After I finish the Delta Region in the Netherlands I'll look in to this request as well.
