Making Accurate-Scale Real-World Maps
MallowTheCloud replied to MallowTheCloud's topic in Mapping Community Room
Hi everyone. I don't visit Simtropolis often anymore, but I feel sort of guilty leaving this incomplete! I don't even have the mapping programs on my computer anymore, and I'll have to relearn a little on how to do this (though this tutorial will ironically help in that aspect ), but I'll try to complete this tutorial over the coming weeks! -

Hi, everyone. If you've noticed I've been gone for a while, it's because I have. I have had what seems to be a permanent case of RLS recently, with school and work and everything. If you've tried to contact me recently, I'm sorry for not getting back to you. I will probably check in at least a couple times a month, but I'm just not around much anymore. Just letting everyone know. Mallow

You could add to the config.bmp a layer of green pixels two-pixels thick on both the left and right side if the problem is along a north-south running border. Or, if the problem is along an east-west running border, you could add to the config.bmp a layer of green pixels two-pixels thick on both the top and bottom side. That would add medium cities to the edges of the map, but would shift the rest of the tiles by a half of a large tile (the width of a medium tile). The problem then would be that you'd need to re-render the map.

Due to strict height restrictions in downtown Portland (to allow the rich folks living in the West Hills a view of the Cascades and Mount Hood without buildings in the way), the city cannot build any buildings taller than the current tallest building, the Wells Fargo Center: From Wikipedia ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wells_Fargo_Center_(Portland,_Oregon) ...: "It stands at 546 feet (166.4m) with 41 floors of office space. Upon opening in 1972, the Wells Fargo Center dwarfed all other existing high-rise developments in downtown Portland. Public outcry over the tower's scale and the potential of new development to block views of Mount Hood led to height restrictions on all new development."

Well, I'm not a moderator in that forum, so you will have to PM Andreas Roth to get that one moved.

The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1
MallowTheCloud replied to sparkythepenguin's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Wow, rich... and to think THAT will be going down to Clackamas Town Center in a few years. Awesome! EDIT: Just noticed that was not even close to the most recent page... this was in response to the MAX pictures from 5 or 6 pages back. I am ever in awe of your creations, Sparky. -
Sparky, I travel the Milwaukie Expressway all the time! I would love to see it remade in SC4.
