Wow... What else can be said that hasn't already been said? You know how I feel about SCR, and nothing can change that. But, beyond that, you are a great person! You are always so kind, and know exactly what to say (even if sometimes the English language can be a pain ). Everybody has enjoyed this CJ, and many more who haven't joined SimTropolis yet will be pointed here for a look at a wonderful example of just how great a CJ can be. The future of this CJ is likely to be just as fascinating as what has happened so far. That said, of course I'm sad that this is ending. Everybody is. But, I think we all understand the reason, and since you show everybody else so much respect, we will show you the same respect in letting you live your life without the constant burden of responding to the endless comments and questions that people have posted in SCR. I'm happy for you, Jeroni, and I hope you know how much you have impacted the lives of all of us who visit your journal. And until the CJ ends, keep up the great work!

Problem Rendering Regions

The closest working dimensions to your map are 961 x 641. That's 16 x 10 for a config.bmp Keep in mind that you will still need to resize your map to 961 x 641. I'll explain it better so you can understand it. A config of 1 x 1 needs to have a map of 65 x 65. A config of 1 x 2 needs to have a map of 65 x 129. A config of 2 x 3 needs to have a map of 129 x 193. A config of 3 x 5 needs to have a map of 193 x 321. Seeing the pattern here? To get the width of your map (in pixels), you multiply your config.bmp width by 64 and add one. To get the height, you multiply your config.bmp height by 64 and add one. And, it works the other way. If you want to find the width for a custom config.bmp, subtract one from the width of your map and divide by 64. If it doesn't divide to a whole number, you need to adjust your map's width so that when you subtract 1 and divide by 64, it DOE divide to a whole number. And do the same to get the height of your config.bmp... I hope that's not TOO confusing. -

This is a map of Stockton, CA (US). It's scaled accurately. It's 32 by 28 km. Have fun! Instructions: (VERY important note below) If you don't have my plugins pack, download it here. 1) Place the import.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods. 2) Create a new folder called Stockton in your ..My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions directory. 3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 4) Download the Stockton.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to. 5) Run your SimCity 4 game 6) Open the Stockton Region 7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded Stockton.jpg to, find "Stockton.jpg", and open this file. 9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between 20 minutes and 1 hour. 10) Have fun! Copyrights: I don't care about copyrights. You may use this however you want, as long as it is legal. Good idea, to post this in it's own thread! I might add a few things here that I have learned. First of all, to fill in the missing data, there is another method that works quite well. Download the Large Scale DEM data and load it first, then load the small scale .hgt file on top of it. It will automatically fill in the missing .hgt file data with the (less precise) large scale DEM data. You will have to zoom in, though. Also, I realized that the vertical dimensions are important to scale as well, as the further from the equator the map is, the less accurate the horizontal to vertical proportions of the map are. In other words, when you measure the width of your map, also measure the height. Finally, I found a great place for larger international maps... http://www.multimap.com/ You can set the map size to 'large' to get a bigger section of the map. On the tutorial, I didn't mention it, but sometimes for larger regions I will stitch many maps together to make a larger, more accurate template. I hope this doesn't confuse anybody. -

Black!? That is a problem. Let me look in to it. EDIT: I just downloaded it and it wasn't black for me... my suggestion would be to try to download the map again... maybe it corrupted while downloading last time. Make SURE it's not totally black, and if it's not, go ahead and render it again.
