Date: 6/27/2005 6:22:07 PM Author: tijn21 I don't know, guys... why can't we just be honest and give the map a rating it deserves.... In this group i feel we can and have to say how we feel about the made maps..... Its all about learning here to create better maps... We can learn from eachother..... Of course we all have a different taste.... We don't have to give every mapp squad map a 10...that's just stupid....We just have to be honest to eachother and give a rate that we think it deserves....quote> I'm gonna have to agree with ya, tijn. The most ratings ANY of my maps/map-packs has received was 9. In other words, I don't have a single 'rated' map. So... I think since the Mapp Squadders are interested in maps, as long as we rate fairly (which I have always done ), we should be allowed or even encouraged to rate each others' maps. And, of course, give the reason for the rating in the message.

Date: 6/27/2005 4:54:00 PM Author: Baro Urgent bug needs fixing! I totally forgot that UCS2 doesn't use the opera house fix available on this site. Essentially as many of you know, the opera house has a non-displayed capacity that is actually quite low, and once your city grows over a certain pop that uses it (mainly rich and med) it will become over-crowded and ALL your residents will report medium rather than high education standards because the opera house has such a global effect. There is a simple fix in this site for this bug/maxis short sightedness that simply adds a funding slider bar for the opera house just like any education building. I've had to delete my opera house after experiance a lot of people moving out due to it's over-capacity effects due to my high population so I hope we can use the opera house fix right away, or hopefully next turn at the latest. Here is the link to the file, it's a pretty straight up fix. https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?mode=details&show=339quote> Hmm, well, I did bring this up during the last meeting. Perhaps TJD just forgot about it. -
Wow, I see you have just released a barrage of maps. They are all quite good, and a great contribution to the STEX maps.

Hi all! Well, as you may know, I joined Neptune Bay this turn, so you will now get to see the beginning of Nimbus Bend! The format I will use is as follows... Every 10 years, there will be census information (graphs, maps, etc) for Nimbus Bend. Every 20 years I will (along with the census information) also post some pics of the city itself. So far, Nimbus Bend is year 20. So, I have census information for years 10 and 20, as well as some pics of the city. First, though, I'll post a pic of the landform I'm using: And now, without further ado, here is the census information for Nimbus Bend at year 10: Phew, that was long. Well, here's the same information for Nimbus Bend at year 20: Okay then, now what? Well, here are some photos of interesting areas around Nimbus Bend at year 20... This first picture is of the old downtown (to the north of the current downtown): Next, we have a portion of downtown Nimbus Bend: And, the Pacific Seafirst Center, built in year 20: Now, here are the power and garbage facilities, as well as some industry and a couple parks: And finally, the (unfinished) University area: Woohoo! That was the first update for Nimbus Bend! I hope you liked it. -

Has anybody built/requested the Columbia Seafirst Center yet? If not, I'll request it. EDIT: I just built the Columbia Seafirst Center in Nimbus Bend. -
Hmm... I think Mallow looks pretty odd upside-down.

Date: 6/27/2005 3:08:49 AM Author: hummer0328 I requested this a little bit ago, but the Mapp Squad seemed to not be taking requests at the time, so here is my request again. Jackson Wyoming How you see it on the topo map in the link is pretty much how I want it. And please try to make sure it's to scale! Thanks!quote> Woops... I thought I already told ya. Jackson is in the Mapp Squad Request Pack 1 - US Edition . -

Official Mapping Community Requests

Date: 6/26/2005 10:10:26 AM Author: jbridgman How are things going right now? I'm new to this topic so I was reading way back at the beginning, sounds pretty busy. Have things calmed down now? I don't have so much a particular location request but more a type of terrain. Its very likely that what I want it already out there, but hard to find.... Disregard if busy: I'm looking for something very mountainous, maybe a few rivers, not much flat areas....I'm interested in building cities (actually closer to small towns, villages and farms) restricted by terrain into narrow valleys along ravines. Anything like this already exists? If someone would like to make a map like this, small size would be just fine, I'm not making a metropolis. Thanks y'all! (No, not Texan, just Japanese with Texan friends)quote> I have taken your request. I just released 'Central Alps' to the STEX. I hope it it what you were looking for. If so, どういたしまして! -
Central Alps has been released, and is slated to show up soon!

This is a map of an area in the middle of the Alps. It's scaled accurately. It's 24 by 24 km. Have fun! Instructions: (VERY important note below) If you don't have my plugins pack, download it here. 1) Place the import.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods. 2) Create a new folder called Alps in your ..My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions directory. 3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 4) Download the centralalps.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to. 5) Run your SimCity 4 game 6) Open the Alps Region 7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded centralalps.jpg to, find "centralalps.jpg", and open this file. 9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between 15 and 40 minutes. 10) Have fun! Copyrights: I don't care about copyrights. You may use this however you want, as long as it is legal. If you want to give someone credit, just say Mallow The Cloud made the map. For any information, questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions about my maps, visit this page -
Great job as always!

Date: 6/25/2005 7:55:57 PM Author: SkiGeek The ending of Jeronij's CJ is his decision, based on how he needs to manage his time, life, and game playing. He has given us a very cool CJ. Everyone here volunteers their time, energy, and talents. I don't understand the rationale for being angry at someone because, for whatever reason, they no longer volunteer. Anger at Jeronij implies that he has violated some sort of obligation. This seems like a version of the anger that crops up now and then against the BATTers because they don't do things on demand. Well, volunteers don't work on demand.quote> I completely agree... in my response to Jeroni, I said I was happy for him and glad he was doing what he thought was best. I was just pointing out what the p'ed part was about. -
Well, your newest updates are the best yet. I'm glad this CJ is ending on a good note! For one of the last times in SCR, keep up the great work, Jeroni!

Date: 6/25/2005 12:12:20 PM Author: SkiGeek Yes, as simman says, the more you ask, the longer it takes and, as ephorex points out, DA's label was delayed for precisely that reason. And, just so you know, being 'pissed' about it will delay it further. That attitude won't get you very far here.quote> Well... just so ya know, it wasn't the custom member label she was p'ed about. It was the ending of Jeroni's SCR... not that it makes it any better. -

Date: 6/25/2005 12:26:22 PM Author: helomoto i have been thinking sieken too...lets not forget... 'I' before 'E' ecxept after 'C'quote> Well, that's for English. If you transliterate the Japanese word 'せいけん' to English, though, you get seiken.... so words borrowed from other languages don't have to follow English rules (one of the many reasons English is such a confusing language []). -
I dunno, they're pretty similar, but I think I prefer the first one, sans-lakes of course... I hope I'm not making you work too hard on this.

Just because Daylight Saving Time is so confusing, I have posted these maps with the time of the meeting on it. East of the Atlantic (to New Zealand), the meeting is on Friday. West of the Atlantic (to Hawaii) the meeting is on Thursday. -
Yeah, I like to keep as many lakes in as possible, but when they get out of hand (like many of the ones in the mountains there) I don't really have any other choice but to just get rid of them. If only SC4 allowed lakes at higher elevations than sea level. My suggestion would be to take most of those lakes out.
