Date: 7/11/2005 4:47:51 AM Author: Duke87 ...socially, gay people are very different from straight people, and thus add some spice to the cultural mix...quote> Time for me to get up on my soap box: This line of thought is exactly the reason I don't want to come out. I know you didn't mean anything bad by it, Duke, and I don't take it as an insult or anything. It's nothing that you did. But, I'm afraid if I come out (including here on ST)... people will think of me as 'gay' instead of 'MallowTheCloud'. I don't fit any of the social gay stereotypes. I don't act gay, I don't look gay. I am not just 'gay'... I am so many other things. My sexuality is not a big part of my life. I don't want people to respect me less (if they respect me at all in the first place ), I don't want people to be disappointed by the fact I'm gay... I still want to be the same person I have always been. And I know some of my friends and family, while not expressing it openly, would be disappointed, or would have less respect for me. But the truth is, telling people should not make people think differently about me. I am still the same person I've always been. Pertaining to ST... that would mean: 1) I am still an avid map-maker, who enjoys helping people with their requests 2) I still will always post in a thread regarding the weather, and will occasionally make my own 3) I still am amazed by jeronij's detail in SCR etc. etc. So, I plead to anyone reading this... think about the way you think. If someone on ST came out, and you hadn't known about their homosexuality before, did it make you think about them as a different person? Please, do not think that way about me, I am still the same MallowTheCloud. Okay, I'm stepping off the soap box now. I hope I didn't bore anybody too much.

I'd check all the neighbor connections to make sure no major artery was accidentally deleted. Also... check your Opera House to see if it's still below capacity. I can't think of any other things it could be, other than a screwy plugin. I hope this helps at least a bit. -
You received mine, right?

Wait, I haven't posted here yet? Great map, tijn!

Adopt ANTI TERRORISM signiture for a week
MallowTheCloud replied to toxicpiano's topic in Simtropolis Related
That's what I don't get about these terrorists... The more they do these mass terrorist attacks, the more people are going to get angry at them, and the less new recruits they are going to get. It's a lose-lose situation for them. What do they stand to gain? But.... since the majority are either in it for the money, or for some inflated dreams of the afterlife, I doubt they care about that point. -
Date: 7/10/2005 12:08:48 AM Author: lookinin Thanks so much Mallow! I'm still working on the map, but I wanted to make sure I got the basic layout correct. The label color being so bad is my fault - I requested a change to dark red - hopefully that will look a bit nicer. Thanks also (again) for your help with the mod - I think it's gonna make these accurate maps MUCH better and easier to make.quote> No problem and no problem. And thank you (again) for the help with ILive Reader.

Hmm... I haven't told anybody yet....

Congratulations on your custom label! Kinda hard to read, but you definately deserve it. That map looks awesome!

Hows the weather where you live?
MallowTheCloud replied to dominohobbes's topic in General Off-Topic
Ouch! 120F for a high and 90F for a low!? Now, THAT'S what I call hot. By the way, for all you non-US folk, that's about 49C for a high temperature and 32C for a low temperature Here's Portland's Yahoo forecast: -

The only bug I have noticed is an apparent missing texture when trying to place the lilies in the pond kit. They don't show up. -

LOL, meteors, I love it!

Hmm... it seem that city is completely under water. That's really strange. I don't know what to say. What maps are you trying to render? Maybe I can render them for you and then email them to you...
-

What I mean is.... go to one of your newly rendered regions, and open a city. Make sure what it looks like in region view is the same as what it looks like in the city view.

Modding to enhance terrain importation
MallowTheCloud replied to Andy80586's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I hate to bring back such an old thread, but I thought I might share this to make things easier on anyone who has or might in the future create your own import.dat file... SeaLevel = 60350(meters)^-0.991 SeaLevel = 247.5(ImageImportScaleFactor)^-0.991 They're the same formula, just one uses meters and one uses ImageImportScaleFactor. Just so you know, the total meters in height between 0 grey and 255 grey divided by 256 is the ImageImportScaleFactor. I plan on doing some testing with other 'exemplars' (is that what they're called?) -

Date: 7/7/2005 7:52:22 AM Author: decola TJD, can you post a region pic in the cj or in here.. or anyone else who's seen the region..quote> Well... ImageShack won't take images over 1MB, so I had to shrink this one down a bit. Also, I've worked on my city a bit, but it's really hard to notice since everything is so small. That said, here it is . -
That is a really strange bug. It looks like it rendered everything right, but that the ImportScaleFactor went haywire on some of the city tiles... Unfortunately, my only suggestion would be to try to render it again.
-
I'm not sure whether you tried it yet.... but try opening one of your cities? When you load it, does it show up like it's supposed to? Or is it still flat land?

This is a map of the Chatham Islands, owned by New Zealand, and located well east of the South Island of New Zealand. It's scaled accurately. It's large, at 64 by 72 km. Have fun! Instructions: (VERY important note below) If you don't have my plugins pack, download it here. 1) Place the import.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods. 2) Create a new folder called Chatham Islands in your ..My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions directory. 3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 4) Download the ChathamIsland.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to. 5) Run your SimCity 4 game 6) Open the Chatham Islands Region 7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded ChathamIsland.jpg to, find "ChathamIsland.jpg", and open this file. 9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This is a large region, and will likely take between 45 minutes and 3 hours. 10) Have fun! Copyrights: I don't care about copyrights. You may use this however you want, as long as it is legal. If you want to give someone credit, just say Mallow The Cloud made the map.
