This is a map of Laredo, Texas, USA. It is scaled accurately. It is 36 by 28 km. Instructions (very important note below): If you don't have my plugins pack, download it here. 1) Place the 1000m.dat plugin in your plugins folder, and remove any other height mod plugins... thanks to Andy80586 and lookinin for helping me create the mods. 2) Create a new folder called Laredo in your ...My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions directory. 3) Download the config.bmp file and place it in the new folder 4) Download the Laredo1000.jpg file and remember where you downloaded it to. 5) Run your SimCity 4 game 6) Open the Laredo Region 7) On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 8) Browse to the folder that you downloaded Laredo1000.jpg to, find "Laredo1000.jpg", and open this file. 9) This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This will likely take between 20 and 55 minutes. 10) Have fun! Copyrights: I don't care about copyrights. You may use this however you want, as long as it is legal. Map troubles

Date: 12/4/2005 3:56:44 AM Author: The boy formerly known as Evil Muzz Your formula works great, but I still get the message. It says it should be 1025x1025, but I don't want it like that!!! Is there something I maybe didn't do? EDIT: Hang on, 568x352=199,936 which IS divisable by 64, you get 3124. But you said it WON'T work if you DON'T get a number divisable by 64, so 568x352 wouldn't work. But according to the math, 568x352 would work, because it's sum is divisable by 64. So do you mean it would or it wouldn't. Also, if you add 1 to a number multiplied by 64, there is no way it will divide by 64. I'm very confused...quote> LOL... well, let's put it this way... christhebull did explain it correctly. However, it is quite hard to explain, so if you skimmed over a single word, it would just make the whole thing confusing. I'll try to explain it again... in my own words. First of all... if you're still getting the message that it needs to be 1025x1025, it means you did not put the config.bmp file in your region folder. For example, if your region is named TBFKAEM, you'd put the config.bmp in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\SimCity 4\Regions\TBFKAEM\ Now... lets assume you want a region that is 32 small tiles wide by 24 small tiles high (the city tiles don't necessarily have to be small, but it's easiest to measure in terms of small tiles). Make a bmp file that is 32 pixels wide by 24 pixels high... assuming you wanted all large cities, fill the bmp with blue (R=0, G=0, B=255) [note: this will only work if the width and height are multiples of four, because large cities take four tiles of width and height]... then save it in your region folder as config.bmp Okay, now that's the config.bmp part. So... if your config.bmp file is 32x24 pixels, you will need the following dimensions for your greyscale jpg: 32 times 64 equals 2048 plus one equals 2049. 24 times 64 equals 1536 plus one equals 1537. So your greyscale jpg should be 2049x1537 pixels. If you want to go the other way, and start with a greyscale jpg rather than a config.bmp... first make sure your dimensions are as follows: width minus 1 divided by 64 is a whole number, which we'll call w height minus 1 divided by 64 is a whole number, which we'll call h Now, make a config.bmp file such that the width is w pixels and the height is h pixels. Large cities are blue (R=0, G=0, B=255) and must be 4x4 pixels. Medium cities are green (R=0, G=255, B=0) and must be 2x2 pixels. Small cities are red (R=255, G=0, B=0) and must be 1x1 pixel. Put the config.bmp in the region folder when you're done. I hope this isn't too confusing. -

Do you have one of my plugins in your plugins folder? (IE import.dat, 250m.dat, 1000m.dat, etc) Or do you have Cycledogg's Columbus Terrain Mod? Either of these will change the way SC4 imports maps.

1- Create a new folder called {Region Name} in your ...My Documents/Sim City 4/Regions directory 2- Place the correct config.bmp in the new folder 3- Find where your greyscale jpeg/bmp file is located 4- Run your SimCity 4 game 5- Open the {Region Name} Region 6- On your keyboard, press and hold down 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'shift' + 'r'--this should bring up a dialogue box 7- Browse to the folder that your greyscale jpeg/bmp file is, find the correct greyscale jpeg/bmp, and open this file. 8- This should start the rendering. BE PATIENT. This could take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours, depending on the size of the region and the speed of your computer. 9- Have fun!

MallowTheClouds Official Map Making Guide

Date: 11/24/2005 8:07:48 AM Author: chriscf What format is the DEM data I need for this? I have a choice of 'ESRI Grid' or 'ASCII Grid'. I would normally 'suck it and see', but I can only grab them in ing huge blocks (around 100MB each). quote> Hmm... what site are you looking at? -
Awesome! You're getting my hopes up, Dirk! Why? Early next week, we are forecast to have very low snow levels. I haven't seen snow (at low elevations here) since winter 2003-2004!

Duthford is a region inspired by something my friend and I used to do in his back yard. From a young age, we would take cars out and place them on the lawn, pretending cities were being built and destroyed by disasters. Eventually, we had a long story line, separate city-states, and a landform based roughly on his yard. I finally created a map of Duthford for SC4, and have been making cities on it... but the map, it turns out, was not large enough. Luckily, I made the map as a bmp, so I can just enlarge it and re-upload it. Just as I was deciding to do this, I found the SimTropolis City Journals, which I have become a big fan of. So, I put two and two together, and decided to make one of my own. I hope this one won't bore people.... I will be uploading the pictures to a different website to save bandwidth. Also, I would like to list the important mods I use... -Change water color -Road Top Mass Transit -Transportation Puzzle Pieces -Perfect Pathfinding -Snowcapped Mountains -Opera House Fix I think that's about it... I don't use anything to add to my population or reduce traffic... I just use things that would be common in real life. I hope people enjoy the story of the founding and population of Duthford.

What do you wear?quote> Well, I've never been to one, but I'd guess it would be mostly just like any other wedding... except you have two brides or two grooms.
