You are correct to an extent on the scale, but the problem here is not the building, the enclosure in the film really isnt very big atall (and believe me, I know with the amount of times I've watched the film developing this), its the size of the raptors thats the problem here. I will remodel them and probably make them HD. The floor textures are all PEG's, and yes they are different on the utility shed lot - more stony to help blend the model in better. Yes I will be including the visitor centre in this pack too, all in good time! Cheers for your great input everyone!

Hello again Thank you for the support benvoliothefirst and Timmystwin, the raptor enclosures finished, and all the dinos have been rendered, I just need to do the technical stuff and make some nice custom icons for the menu, but in the meantime, heres a pic of most of whats been built so far: I hope you like it!

Until now!

Hello everyone, just a small update on the modular pack, progress has been slow with other priorities taking over my development time, but some headway has been made 3x triceratops lots (different dino orientations etc) - 66.6~% done 3x brachiosaur lots (as above) 3x dilophasaur lots (yup as above again) - 100% done 3x t-rex lots (you guessed it..) 3x raptor lots (uhhu) 1x utility shed - 100% done 4x fences (1 corner, 1 with lights + warning sign, 1 plain, 1 with an information post) - 100% done 1x visitor center prop 2x jurassic park gates (1 with flames, 1 without) - 50% done 1x raptor pen - Work in progress pictured below! 3x tour vehicle lots (on different road pieces) - 100% done It was tricky finding enough pictures of the raptor enclosure as a full structure, but its getting there finally: I'll update you further when I get more time

I haven't a clue how to go about this, but I've seen lots and bats that have pulled it off (like a random bus stop one for instance, which I will look at in the editors). If I get stuck I'll be sure to call on you I do have another query related to this slightly though, if you or anyone viewing can help? On my test fencing lots, the fence itself is a prop, and cant be seen until its been plopped, which is a bit frustrating when trying to orient the pieces, and if I use buildings, they cant extend off the lot (can they?). Is there a way of forcing props to show prior to plopping or some other cunning method to do this?

Ah.. the flying dino cage is a deffinate no-no for me (for a start, its from Jurassic Park III on a different island). The roads on the lot are all from pegs dependency pack.. I've no idea if they were ever transit-enabled (or where to even start on doing that myself!). However, there is the raptor pen enclosure which I WILL be modelling for this set I've started early test work on the modular fences. The original fence props were all too short to use in a modular way, so I've spent the last few days experimenting with them.. the initial list of modular lots for the pack is something like this: 3x triceratops lots (different dino orientations etc) 3x brachiosaur lots (as above) 3x dilophasaur lots (yup as above again) 3x t-rex lots (you guessed it..) 3x raptor lots (uhhu) 1x utility shed 4x fences (1 corner, 1 with lights + warning sign, 1 plain, 1 with an information post) 1x visitor center prop 2x jurassic park gates (1 with flames, 1 without) 1x raptor pen 3x tour vehicle lots (on different road pieces) This will take some time to compile together, but in the meantime, heres a shot from one of my early fence experiments

Cheers CHR and ComputerGuy890100. What other buildings did you have in mind CHR? This project has taken so much time though, that I will probably move on to something fresh now. Jurassic Park is coming to a stex near you very shortly, enjoy

Hello all Heres my "release candidate" I guess you could call it: The most significant change aside from those security camera poles is the vegetation at the front; two of the plants at the top on either side of the entrance had big circular holes in the middle (which didnt look so good!). They've been patched up Gutterclub: I'm not sure about a seperate lot release.. I designed this whole thing as a kind of zoo alternative anyway, but theres nothing stopping you from relotting it to your taste when its released. The visitor center itself will just be a landmark building, all the rest are just props. I may release the whole lot of them as a prop pack though if there is enough demand. I'm working on a custom query for it now, and a nice custom query sfx

Thank you Jack_wilds It is quite interesting looking from the start of this project through to where it is now, and it certainly wouldnt have made it to this state without the excellent suggestions in here I've done a little more to the lot.. some of my tree props werent displaying correctly, and the visitor center itself is being re-rendered after I noticed the security camera poles no longer met the floor! The Utility shed prop (top left of the lot) has been re-rendered aswell with the roof and concrete texture changes. I'll have some new pictures in the morning.
-
Hello Here she is.. The concretes less blue, the doors have been fixed, I've played with the small thatched rotundas a bit more, and sorted that nasty kink in the railing, and tweaked the vegetation a tiny bit more.. and altered the roof texture. I wont be able to work on it over the weekend, but it would be great to come back here on monday to find some more comments Have a good weekend all
-
Thank you once again Jasoncw and thingfishs for your detailed critique You are completely right about the doors afterall. I was sure I had just cloned the door from the rear entrance and moved it to the top, but I was mistaken! I'll try a slightly desaturated concrete texture and post the results (but I really like the bluey colour ). Very well spotted thingfishs on that railing kink, it should certainly not be there, and I cant believe I've not spotted it myself. Very good suggestion on the rotunda texture rotation too. I'll hopefully have a new render of the center ready for this afternoon

Thank you very much Simbourgeois and SimFox I think we are nearly there finally! Jasoncw's suggestions have been actioned, as have SimFox's vegetation. I think it blends much better with the surroundings now, do you agree? I've finished the fences (no more escaping dinos!) and added a few more species in there, along with the Ford Explorer tour vehicle props. Please let me know what you think:

Cheers Jasoncw I'll take your points on board.. the doors on the roof are really annoying.. they are actually correct in proportion but because the ledge above them overhangs, it gives the impression that they are fatter.. sometimes I curse this rendering angle :/ The ground floor doors are of course a double door so are naturally wider It was intentional to have the roof curve angular at the rear, the curved extension behind it was also modelled this way.. I guess it wont be to everyones taste. I like all of your roof ideas.. I only started playing with the noise modifier yesterday for a separate prop for the project and its great The plants have been annoying me too. I figured that the best thing to do would be to start construction of the lot itself, then I could blend the colours in a lot closer.. so thats whats been happening for the past week or so.. and its currently looking something like this:

Hello all Thank you so much Heblem for the texture, with a bit of alteration it looks far better than the original. nihonkaranws, its the visitor centre from Jurassic Park, so its not 'real' so to speak. The concrete does have a blue tinge to it which is why it looks that way in the renders (theres a pic of the film prop further up the thread for comparison). Heres how its looking now, including a HD render.. I've only just learnt that Gmax BAT can do HD lol.. needless to say I'll be doing a HD re-render of Dempseys very soon Next on the list is to improve the entrance texture a little, and remove the excess windows and pillars on the front. Any further input though is greatly appreciated!

Hello all Thank you Simbourgeois, jacqulina and hittwice99 for your kind words, and I look forward to your opinions Crackdtoothgrin, I'm glad you are happy with it so far! I'm of course aware of the dodgy tiling mightygoose, its more or less fixed now, but I'm still not sure about it.. I guess I will eventually trim out the excess windows, it seems the general consensus (even if I prefer 4 lol). Heres how its looking now: Development has come along a fair way today. We now have plants, transparent water, security cameras, and some improved (I hope!) texturing
-
Texturing has started.. its proving a challenge though, my lightrig may be a little too big for this model. I know the concrete is far too bright and most of it is probably over-saturated, but we are overdue a wip, so here it is
