As everybody knows, political talks are discouraged in ST (and also in SC4D). In "Off-topic", it is just about acceptable, but still not very welcomed. The reason is pretty clear - it always leads to a flame war. But people still do politics.... despite its clear cases. Why? So I guessed some. 1. Mommy! I can talk of politics! I am big! Many people in ST are male teenagers or in early 20's. A person in this age group tends to be very much attracted in presenting himself more mature and adult. Many start smoking for this reason because it looks adult (but it's changing now). Talking of politics may be occuring from the same reason. (and for real grown-ups, those young "politicians" look even more childish) 2. Can't really talk of anything else.... Probably 99% of Simtropolitans never actually saw each other in RL. So, we can't really talk about everyday stuff. There, news and politics provide an easy topic of conversation, like weather. But one major difference from weather is that political discussions are never simple. hm...... why do politics keep on popping up in iST..... thoughts?
