I could never get into Twitter. I use Facebook and Instagram a lot, as I have built up a bit of a following with my foodie posts. I also use Urbanspoon a bit too. (ps. Follow roflyoshi on there to get my scrumptious meals!) Do you use Instagram? What do you post on it?

4838: The way I heard it is don't bet on who you think will win, bet on who you think has the better odds compared to your chance of winning. Ie. If you think two teams have an equal chance of winning and one is offering a 3:1 return, go for that. I've had mixed results with betting but I seldom do it. Won $80 on various bets in the World Cup, but I was shattered that I didn't put a bet on Germany to beat Argentina in the final, when I was telling everyone from the very start this would happen. But some people bet on stuff like pokies and horse events they know nothing about, and I think that's a bit sad.

Man, Asian food is good in general! Of course I'm basing my experience off the restaurants we get here in the western world, but there's something special about the Japanese izakaya bars, where the food just comes out when ready. Grilled meats and hand rolls, yum yum! Best place in your city (be it building, park, restaurant anything)

4827: It seems kind of pointless, because the price would not change overall, plus if you know that the system relies on people legally earning below minimum wage, you almost feel coerced to tip regardless of service. Plus in a way the tip is a mandatory portion of the bill. In any other country in the world you have to pay the full bill, not in the US.

You have family in Australia? Where? My family are mostly in Australia but I have cousins etc. in Germany. 49% of people in Australia are either foreign born or have a foreign born parent. Does this apply to you?

4822: I already work another job so I'll pick up some more shifts in the meanwhile as they are quite understanding. It was sort of a "I'm not getting where I want, I'm not doing what they expect" kind of thing. Which seems a bit unfair in my books (as I was purely being a bussie for that time, with no section waiter work) and wasn't really 'tested'. But it was a 30 mile drive each way so I guess I won't miss that. I'm just looking to hopefully find some bar or cafe work closer to home.

I agree, this is just messed up beyond belief. Yes suicide is definitely a bad thing and there is always another door out, but if you have decided you must do it, it is incredibly selfish to take out 149 other innocent people with you. I still cannot believe it.

Hahaha, nah, we were watching at home. Going to sumo is really expensive, you buy a ticket to use a 4-person box and those run from about US$400 on up. Of course he had better seats than we had when we went last year, a few rows up RIGHT next to the hanamichi where the sumo wrestlers walk by. He looked like he was enjoying it, though. EDIT: Also, ChronoTrigger is not just my favorite RPG, it's in my top five favorite games of all time. 4802: Although it's less of an issue today, Australians/Europeans missed out on some games, Chrono Trigger being one of them. Saturn, how would you respond if I told you you can't get Earthbound here? The games that get released, sometimes fetch a mint on eBay due to their comparative rarity. A copy of Paper Mario 64 can set you $250-750, depending on condition and if it comes with box.

My grandmother was one of the people responsible for bringing Oktoberfest out to Melbourne in the 1960s. She watched it degenerate to what she calls it, a "piss-up" where the emphasis is more on excessive drinking than the food, partying and culture. Also I find St. Patrick's Day as just another excuse to get wasted.

4754: When you say fifty degrees, I think of extremely hot weather that we get on occasion in Summer (didn't happen this year). If it were 50 degrees, I would be leaving my house, packing everything and getting out of there as fast as I can.

4739: True, but games about killing Nazis are getting old. I would find interesting q game where you could play as the Germans against the Allies interesting, just without the genocide implications. Also I don't have a rule about taking off shoes in the house, but I prefer to do it. Just more comfy.
