If its illegal to own big amounts, but the drugs we're talking about are not things that could be easily home grown, then doesn't it defeat the point? there's still an equal amount of illegal (manufacture and distribution), if not even more because the demand has gone up... Personally, i'd see this as giving more business to the cartels, not less.

Ah, depreciation. The falcons/commadores usually depreciate fast, and drop to a stupidly low value. Usually its not worth selling them after 10 years, just run them into the ground. Of course it depends from car to car, some that are used less can sell for a fair bit, as can the luxury/performence models. (though seriously, if you want a way to loose 10K from depreciation in 18 months, buying an XR6 is the way to go...) Of course, some truly great cars (depending on who you ask i guess) will retain their value due to cult status/other factors. there's an old model of falcon that can sell for 100K+, in a fully restored condition

Because it starts you on a slipperly slope. how much is too much? 1? 2? only over 10? so someone who killed 9 people is ok to go to prison, but someone who killed 10 will be shot? and maybe then we should move it to other crimes apart from murder aswell.. now which ones?

I'm too poor to eat out much thesedays. prices for food on campus are way to high, for food which is, really, pretty crap. So its veggiemite sandwhiches and some fruit for me. Hell, it probably only costs a dollar a day too, if that. (an AUD aswell)

Nissans releseing a pure EV next year which is supposedly able to get 300+ MPG equivlant, though I have no idea what method they use to compare electricty to petrol (if its in terms of energy, cost, or pollutants)

Yeah, a rocket launching a payload to slightly alter its orbit *before* it gets way to close would be the way to go. You have to remember that due to the way orbits are, its likely that we'll have a lot of warning about "the big one", and it might even possibly pass by us close on multiple occasions before it actually hits, so plenty of time to do stuff about it. People have put a lot of thought into it aswell, someone even suggested last year that an asteroid that was on a collosion course could be wrapped in a thin reflective coating so that the solar wind would push it just enough to take its orbit outside earths.

Sustaniable is such a horrible word, especially when its coupled with growth.

Well,i'm sure it wasn't "easy". Its not like he was flying over the sea of japan "oh, lets go visit NK while i'm here", gets of plan, has a chat "say, you don't mine releasing those prisioners do you" "oh sure". It would have been planned, and terms agreed upon, weeks in advance. Heck, the reporters hadn't even been sent off to the labour camp yet, and they were convicted almost 2 months ago.

I thought most of the work done in the US was hired out to private contractors? even if it wasn't i somehow seriously doubt your federal/state/local goverment's ability to actually use the trillion's needed (by use i mean, have the manpower to do the works), so you'd probably have private contractors. You might have to go private no matter what because you left it too long.

The last 2 missing austrlians from Vietnam were discovered a few weeks ago aswell.

Depends what type of "home schooling" you mean. As i understand it, a lot of the home schooling that happens in outback australia is the student interacting with a teacher in a town via radio/internet etc, not the partent themselves doing the teaching.

From what i've been reading, the differences in time have come from differences in the definition in the amount of reserves vs recoverable reserves, as well as some people using out of date consumption figures (usually to manipulate the result), and no factoring into account the growth of the coal consumpion rate. (which is important, as in another 30 years we'll be using double the amount of coal that we are now, at the current growth rate).
