Well, that's disappointing...
-
Yeah, I don't think it's gonna happen. There have been plenty of petitions before, and none of them went very far; so I don't think this one will go very far, either.

Bids Start at $300,000 for Chicago's Post Office

Originally posted by: High5flyier What a beautiful building, would make a great BAT project and contribution to the game.quote> I downloaded it last week. Anyway, I think the Postal Service is cutting back and closing down offices all over the country. I know that they're talking about closing around five post offices where I live due to decreased demand. -
I would like to see tornados in Cities XL. In SimCity4, these are my favorite disasters. I hope in Cities XL you can control how big the twister is, from F-0 to F-5.

What a shame, and what a psycho. This is why we need gun control...

Legal Download of the game?

Yeah, Ebay is always a good bet. -

It will take a lot of work and patience, and my suggestion is to give sims education, fire coverage, healthcare, and police coverage over time; not right away. Only give your sims these services when they need it.

There are plenty of things in SimCity4 that aren't that realistic, such as the repetitive buildings, huge retaining walls, no diagonal bridges, etc.

Question about the Timbuktu region
mayor_brando replied to jmusacha's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
For some reason I find that you just can't build a large city on mountains, so try softening the terrain and leveling it out a bit with the god mode tools. -
It took me about a week; mainly you just have to try different features and simulators and find which ones work best.

customers? how do i increase them
mayor_brando replied to DrwHem's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I find that commercial areas near residential zones have more customers. Also, large commercial areas don't get as many customers, at least in my experience. But traffic also helps. With the population problem, I think that reward buildings bring up residential demand, and you could try zoning for more jobs; that might bring up demand. -
I usually just ignore them; they go away after awhile.
-
1: Since it doubles the jobs, you will see a loss of demand for industry, but it will decrease the space needed to have more jobs, so yes. 2: I don't think it effects Agriculture, but it will still double the jobs for existing industry and industry that is built after you install it. But to see an increase in industrial jobs (in region mode), you will have to go into each existing city (with industry) and save it. 3: Nope. 4: I don't think this mod effects downloaded content, so no. 5: Not that I know of.

I used to have an airport in the middle of one of my downtowns until I demolished it.

terring: Like the building, but the two kinds of trees don't mix. 5/10 RedImperator: I like nightshots, espeacially of cities. 8/10 ford-prefect: I like it. 7/10 terring: The trees in this shot seem to mix well together, and I like the park. 8/10 danielcote: What? 1/10

I don't need jails, either. In one big city, I have good education, and good police coverage, and absolutely no crime whatsoever.

I would post mine, but it's just a dozen of those darn Wren Insuraces at the moment, but when it's done there will be more variety.quote> There's a mod called go away wren for that. Check in the mods section of STEX. Plus download more BATs. More bats generally means less repitition. quote> I downloaded that a long time ago, but it didn't seem to make a difference. And I am downloading more BATs; I just downloaded a whole bunch, but I haven't tested them in my city yet. I might just bulldoze most of the Wrens and see what happens.

Why did sim city 4 include churches but not post offices
mayor_brando replied to Jatsc's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Originally posted by: DITRO Totally unrelated, but why do three guys (I think there are actually more) have the transportation adviser as their avatar? I keep think you are the same person lol.quote> That does seem to be a popular avatar. I wonder why? -
I have a problem getting my residential zones to develop.
mayor_brando replied to Ultimate_Waffle's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hmm... Try going back to your industrial city and see if it develops some more. After that, go back to your residential city and see if that develops any more. You'll have to do this regularly if you want to see some serious development, and that's the problem with having residential in one city and jobs in the other; it's very tedious, and you'll have to switch between the two often. -
Originally posted by: DreamSong So, 1x2 or 1x3?quote> I'd use 1x3; you want to have big backyards.
-
Originally posted by: RedImperator What's throwing me is that there are no backyards, which are probably 2/3ds of the reason people move to suburbia to begin with. I don't think the 1x1 zoning is doing you any favors.quote> Yeah, I almost always zone 1x3 or 2x3 zones in suburbs, but never less than 1x2.

mayor_brando replied to Ultimate_Waffle's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Do you have any commercial/industrial? If not, then that's probably why they aren't developing. -
Originally posted by: DreamSong how 'bout some open grass[i/] What do you mean by that, just leave more empty space between houses or use the park Open Grass Area? Oh yeah...forgot all about cul-de-sacs. Where I live we generally don't have too many of them which may be why you aren't seeing any. And, you want more diagonal streets. Sounds like a plan. quote> I meant plop the park open grass area in the empty space behind the houses, but remember, these are only suggestions.
-
Also, I see you have a highway. I find that most highways that run through suburbs are sunken, so how 'bout making that highway sunken?
