I see a lot of potential in the maps, especially with the peninsula into your bay: Industry on North and Res on South connected by massive infrastructure. Also the slender Island in the very South-East could be an interesting map. You have several all flat lots that could have some really interesting mountain features. Maybe when making the mountains you could think about how water drains from them to the bay and rivers below. Have fun!

Making your city beautiful
SeeSpotSplat replied to ididntdidit's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Just remember that empty space doesn't mean space to fill! Leave some space between neighborhoods and around major transportation. Fill it with trees or parks or power lines. Just be conscious of everything you do. -
Something about roundabout
SeeSpotSplat replied to MaxCheng95's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Here is how I always make my roundabouts. 1) Make the intersection without the roundabout. 2) Delete the center piece 3) Connect the ends of the avenue or street with a one way street like in the picture 4) works with both avenues and roads This method works without any mods, however I have seen some great roundabouts made with street mods. Good luck! -
Is it possible to have high tech industry be profitable on its own? I can subsidize it with profits made from residential and commercial, but after adding what it costs in power and water it ends up costing more money than its worth (Without using the dirtiest power plants) My question then is how do I make it more profitable? Ive tried making a small size map full of it and got about $200 a month max (though I couldn't sustain it for some reason) using clean gas power and water towers, with the demand at 0 and taxes at 12%. The demand came from several 70,000 population cities around it with no HTI. Any good tips? Thanks!

Is it possible to store your regions elsewhere?
SeeSpotSplat posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hello, I have searched the forum, the internet and indeed the world to no avail. I would like to change the path to where my regions are stored (to a network path if possible) so that more than one person can play off of the same region without replacing files and such. After seeing how many mods there are to the game I figured I should try asking =) Thank you, Artur -
Is it possible to store your regions elsewhere?
SeeSpotSplat replied to SeeSpotSplat's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Ok, I figured it out! Its a bit sneaky and works only in Vista. In essence you trick SimCity into thinking the network location is actually "C:\Users\#User#\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions" So what you do: 1. Backup your regions! 2. Move your Regions folder to a network location (lets say \\homecomputer\Regions) 3. Make sure you give the folder full permissions for everyone. 4. Go to the command prompt(Run and type in cmd) 5. Navigate to C:\Users\#User#\Documents\SimCity 4\ 6. Type in mklink /D Regions "\\homecomputer\Regions" That creates a folder in your simcity 4 folder that links to the networked folder. This way two computers can access the same region at the same time and create parallel cities. When the cities get saved, the regions are updated. You can even both have the same city open, just not save(since the file is in use) I hope this is useful to someone =) -
