Evergray - She speaks to the dead And yay, im gonna see them at Sweden Rock Festival! -
The book is very good, however i think thers more truth in the book than most cristians care to belive. Brown filled in the gaps, but the story still has to be based of, and that material that its based of dose exist in reality, he has also written what these texts are in the book. Offcource, one should not read the book as a text of truth, sine a lot has been filled in to be able to make a good book. Which it indeed is. As for the Movie, i dont have any high expectations of it, ive seen the American Film Industry make a lot of very bad movies based on great books, and just as a whole, most of the american movies are crap. (Edit, i thought i might add that i was Catholic, but ive said up my religion and nowadays i belive in what i feel like, not really clining to any mainstreem religion. And no, i gave up Catholosism long before Mr. Brown even started writing "The Da Vinci Code". And i read it because of the title, Leonaro was a big person, so big infact that even one of the Turtles got namned after him(Yeah, that was one of my favorite programs as a kid). Oh, and im not meaning to offend anyone)

Europe vs America vs Asia vs Oceania

Originally posted by: p2h5 I am totally happy where I am - Europe (London, UK). I can get to Paris whenever I like, as it's 2.5 hours away by train. There are more than 20 countries all within a less-than-3 hour flight. I'd hate to be stuck in a continent like N America or Oceania where there only are a few other countries within a short flight/journey - no weekends to European countries, which are close but all very different - when everything other than Canada is a 7+ hour flight away. I love the way the French always go on about how much faster the Eurostar can go in France. We have truly $%&^! railways, OK, but I say it's just typical French snide-ness towards us Brits (not that we're exactly foreign to a little the other way round!) to compensate for other things que La France lacks these days!quote> But you Brits still had railways long before anyone else in Europe did ^^ but from what i heard there was plans on building highspeed tracks from the Eurotunnel to London for the Eurostar to travel on, did that never happen? Oh, and i think we have just about as bad speeds on our trains here in Sweden aswell. -
Well, English is my first language, but i speak better swedish, and im dysleletic, and i understood it perfectly. ^^

Well, im brought up in Stockholm, Sweden, and il will probably end up living here. But i AM going to live in Japan for 2 years, and im gonna make sure to se all of europe that i havnt seen yet, Iceland, Greenland, Switserland, Austria, Southern Italy, all the medeterranian Isles(or the not to touristy ones). But live, there are but a few locations i could consider nowadays, it would have to be a metropolis, since i just cannot live in a small town(or close to a metropolis anyway, for shopping etc). But still be small enough to have a car. Kyoto, Sapporo(Japan) Shanghai, Hongkong, Bejing(China) London(UK), Dublin(Ireland) If i were to stay in Stockholm(Sweden), id want to change so many things, we so need a million things here, like new Motorways, Railwaytracks, Tube-Extensions... tearing down loads of ugly 60's concrete buildings and so on. -
Originally posted by: jvlm.123 A lot has happened since then. That railway line is about to be reopened (Galway - Sligo), as is the Ennis-Galway line. I don't live in Dublin, but Omagh. However, I do now the drive you are talking about. It is now all dual-carriageway or motorway until Athlone and they are extending it to Galway, should be finished in the next few years. Also, people probably thought the Astro was a huge car because they were only available in Ireland in the late 90s (so they were 'new'), but they are more and more common now.quote> Jeez, sounds like i have to come back in a few years just to see how the country has changed totaly. I was like totaly of with the dublin part though :S Omagh is like far away if i remember corectly ^^ I liked those windy country roads, even if they were just that, very curvy. But i guess it will be nice to be able to travel all the way from dublin to galway in 2 or so hours ^^ instead of the 4½ it usually took me and dad. Yeah, our Astro was a '92. Actually, we imported it from Florida, the keys somewhere. Was one of my favorite cars we have ever had, so spacious, and it consumed so much petrol, it was only efficient over 150kph or something funny like that (With a Km/Litre calculation compared to the WV Minivan we had before. (Edit: The place i lived in was called "Cloonif" House 2. Great Neighbours we had to, had a blast with em ^^

In the near future, there would be First Class/Club Class, Business, Standard/Economy... and this, which to me, looks like er, Last class?quote> Now thats what im talking about! Cheap airfares if they put the price on that at 20USD id gladly stand up, even for long haul. Imagine beeing able to get to London/Berlin/Paris for the price of a bottle of Vodka ^^

Originally posted by: jvlm.123 I think the lake your talking about is Lough Corrib (Loch Coirib in Irish). Anyway, I've been in Moycullen a few times, and Conemarra and Galway City more (I have family there). And it might interest you that the bypass has finally been completed (it's part of the N59 Galway-Clifden-Westport-Sligo road).quote> Small world eh ^^ Yeah, Loch Coirib is the one. Yeah, ive been out on the N59 West quite a few times, ive actually travled around most of southern ireland, never went much north though, but down to both cork and waterford, Limmerik och around the shannon and so on. Well, if they hadnt finished the bypass by now id be devastated, i mean, last time i was there was summer 2000. Couldnt find the name of my road on the net eather, but there was a railroad line there long ago, though it was disused already when i was there, the mounds were still there. Oh, and you live in Dublin right? Then you also know of that tedious drive from Dublin to Galway right? thats like to slowest 250km ever. But i guess its gotten better since they build that new intersection/bypass at Athlone. Still the road is very, very narrow and winy, they should really make it a dual carrigeway or even a motorway, i know you have some very nice motorways around dublin, well were when i was there anyway. Oh, and we probably drove one of the only Chevrolet Astros around there(Galway), everyone thought it was such a huge car.

The near future is more Fuel-Economical Jets, Maby even going back to Huge-Turboprops(Like the russian Bear) because they have a very, very good fuel per km and seat ratio. People arent willing to pay several thousands to be crammed into a tin-jar in an uncomfortable seat, even if there is a Tv right infront of you, but make that a very cheap flight, and all of a sudden people are actually willing to fly rather than take a bus. Since 9/11 people seem afraid to fly in general, i dont think having a nukelear reactor ombord will help that. Even if it shortens the flights by 400%, Make them 400% cheaper och you will have more people flying. I think in general people arnt botherd sitting on a plane for a day or two if they know it was cheap. I know that if it was cheap to fly to Japan from Sweden, id go there atleast every year. but since it costs about 500USD on the cheapest flights its not really something one can do. so basicly, i think Aircraft will become more economical and more enviromentaly freindly in the near future. in the far future we will probably have high speed trains running around the globe, between all major metropolitans. Like Supersonic trains travveling in vacum-tunnels.

Though it does increase to 90,000-100,000 if some suburbs like Oranmore or Barna are counted. It has also just surpassed Dublin (pop. 1.6 million) as the most expensive place to buy property in Ireland.quote> Nice! Must be the work my dad did on the telephone systems there that made the prices spike I Lived just outside the village of Moycullen(Due Connemara), they were building a bypass around the village for the entire duration of my stay, and it wasnt finished when i left. Though i cant remember the exakt name of the street it i do remember my adress beeing house 2 or someting like it on the street ^^ I Also remember that lake there, the one our neighbours told us was really dangerous... after id been out running around in the feilds for several weeks. Apparently you could sink down into the bog and you would appear in the lake several years later, obviosly dead.

Cool Thread! My Neighbourhood, Evlinge: ~2000 My County, Värmdö: 35 000 permanent, ~90 000 in summertime. My City, Stockholm: 780 000(Proper), 1.5 Million(Greater County), 2.5-3 Million(Greater Stockholm/Commuting Distance) Oh, and i do travel into Stockholm everyday(For school/shopping/whatever), its only 50km away Oh, and you irish people, i lived there to for 2 years of my life, in a small town called Galway, pop around 50 000 i think. Back in '98-'00 that was. (Edit, just thought it might be fun to know that 25-30% of Swedens population live in the Stockholm Region, which is the capital if you didnt know that)

Asphalt is much nicer, especially these new silent-asphalt types that are poping up in some locations, especially holland. Concreete is way to rough. Though right now we have a 5-10cm ice sheet on the road so it dosnt really matter whats underneath, just that driving on Ice is a lot less comfortable than eather of the two others...

SWAP, SimWings Airport Pack: Support/General Disussion Thread
xiziz replied to xiziz's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Teddy, i think i know what the problem is, there is one file, a controlerfile that there can be only one of, this is the one that makes the airports have capacity. hence as soon as someone releases a lot/bat that changes this file, without suppying a modified version of the file in SWAP, there will be a conflict. There is no way to change this, its up to the Author of the newer pack to provide support for SWAP. or atlest tell his audience that its uncopatible. And i read the thead, i to do belive that there is a maximum ammount of airport lots that can be active. Someone might want to test to place 16-18 terminals on a map and se what happens. And post the results here. Cheers //Sim -
The 7800GS outpreformes the X850 just aswell as the X850 outpreformes any 5*00-series card. There from two different series, the X1*00 is the series the 7*00 series is on contest with. And when i was cheking for grapics cards, the 7800 nor the X1800 were even coming for APG-based systems. The 7800(Whatever is the topmark) outpreformes the X1800XT by about .5-1%, thats maby 1-2 fps in a game, no difference at all. As for AA, Ati has the upperhand by Enormeus proportions thanks to their design, running an app at 2xAA results in 8xAA, 4xAA results in 16xAA, you get my point, ATI's AA is way ahead of Nvidia, the transparency AA is just to try to close that huge gap. Unless its in SLI with another card, ATI's Crosfire sucks big time. BUT if you are using SLI, im gonna go ahead and call you an idiot, since NO game at the moment, not in the near future(yes, not even TES4:Oblivion) will need that ammount of power! and by the time they will, we will be able to buy a decent midrange card that outpreformes those old sli-cards anyway. Especially considering that my X850XT can play new games at 1600x1200 at full setting fluently, i dont se the need for a more powerful card, the only thing missing on the X850-series is a shader3. Some people like to brag about the specs, but if you just want a cheap PC that can play the latest games with good grapics, why bother buying more expensive stuff when that exes power is only used in benchmarks anyway? As People probably figured(and as ive said), Im all for ATI & AMD, because ive had Both Intels & Nvidia's and guess why im not using them anymore? Getting more power for cheaper, thats what i see as the best, not buying an extraordinarly expensive computer that wont play the games better than the one for half its price. A Good comparison is mine and my cousins puters, we bought em both at the same time, he paid 22000(SEK) i Paid 8000(SEK), and beleve it or not, my system even outpreformes his in benchmarks! And his machine should be faster in all ways, since his numbers are higher than mine. It tis not my fault that he wanted an Nvidia Card ^^ Now, we should end this stupid discussion about whichever is better, since they swap places all the time(well, not AMD & Intel... AMD seems to have held the lead there for quite some time). It dosnt really matter if ATI or Nvidia has the 1% upperhand, because when it comes to it, only stupid benchmarkobsessed peple buy them anyway. The rest of the world is 1-2 series behind the fronteer, and the games are still beeing designed to work with those systems. Now im not writing anymore... need my beautysleep now... from now on, go ontopic please ^^ Cheers //Sim Edit; Some prices... from sweden, that IS one if not the most expensive country in the world ^^, including the 25% tax. 6800GT = 120USD <-- This card is really worth the money IF you are able to unlock the pipes on your model, therwise tis wortless.(Generation 6) 7800GS = 334USD (Generation 7) 7800GT = 816USD <-- Nvidia's Monster(Generation 7) X850XT = 250USD <-- Generation 6(My card) X1900XTX = 549USD <-- ATI's Monster(Generation 7) Is it really worth the extra ~300USD for about 1% more preformance? The Correct 6800GT's are no longer sold, all models that are beeing sold now have been fixed(since 4 months back) and cannot be modded to double the ammount of pipes(essentially doubeling its preformance). Cheers //Sim

Date: 2/24/2006 9:23:33 AM Author: sloppet Date: 2/23/2006 1:27:50 PM Author: toxicpiano ATI AND INTEL FOREVER!!!!!quote> hahah! good one.... well, i prefer amd and nvidia .... but meaybe on the other hand it's better to get a ati instead of a nvidia.. tough decision... quote> Actually it just depends on if you want to pay more for an Nvidia card of the same preformance of a cheaper(And IMO better) ATI card! There is only ONE reason for buying Nvidia, and that is if your gonna USE SLI, that means if you are gonna buy atleast 2 top of the line cards, which btw is the most grusome example of wasting money. Its more worth the cash to actually light a bonfire with it just to be able to say you lit fire to ~800USD! As long as you have one card, be it Apg8 or PCI-E, it better be an ATI unless your running a 6600GT(With unlocked pipes) in wich case that ONE card is has more preformance for its price than the similar ATI card, but note, that is ONLY on the cards that you are able to unlock(and have unlocked) the hidden pipelines. I Spent about 60 hours 2months ago to figure out what card was the best to buy, with a limited budget and wanting max preformance. For APG though, and i finaly settled for a HiS X850XT, costing 300USD. Which probably is the best APG based card that will ever be relased, since by the time budgetcards reach these speeds, APG will be as common as ISA is nowadays ^^ Everyone will already be running PCI-E Systems. Edit, an X850xt is about 250USD(in sweden mind you, thats including 25%tax and the general idea that sweden is one of the few countries that is even more expensive than Japan, by some 15-20%) Cheers //Sim

Generally speaking, AMD is whipping Intels ass at a preformance by cost, and that is what is most interessting. Who on earth buys a processor for 1000USD just to say theve got the best, when their neigbour can buy an OEM-PC in 1 years time that outcalases it. Its not the Mega-Turbo expensive eqipment that is interestting for the majority of PC-Users, its the Mid->High range. Who buyes 4 Nvida Grapic Cards? When by the time there actually is a game that can use the power of them all, Both ATI & Nvidia will be relasing budjet-cards wipping those 4 cards to cream. Sure, if you happen to be a billionare, by all means by the most expensive stuff and brag, but if yer just some student that needs a good gaming PC, go and buy a decent AMD/ATI machine, since it will save you a lot of bucks. And yes, i prefer AMD and ATI, and i HAVE had a P4 system with a Nvidia card, and lets say that im never buying another Intel nor Nvidia based system. Though when it comes to motherboards, im using an mb based on a Nvidia chip! even if id prefer an DFI. Cheers //Sim

Date: 2/22/2006 10:09:57 PM Author: General Gunfire Take a look at my system specs, add another 6600GT and another gig of RAM and you have a great system. It probably wouldn't hurt to have a faster processor, though. Make sure that when you buy hard drives you buy 7200RPM SATAII. They are much faster than IDE. If you get two SATAII hard drives you can do a RAID0 raid array and get double performance. My system values at around $1000 US. quote> Raid0... yeah, ive lost about 500gb of data and 2 harddrives using that, better off just having em seperated that way you only lose half of what you have stored if one breaks. If your gonna raid make it Raid5, best both preformance and saftey ways. though you need 4 identical drives for it to fuction.(400% preformance 75% storage, of the total of the drives) But Sata2 is a very good things indeed, and just plain sata. IDE drives should die like floppies ^^ Though its quite overkill to have 2 graphics cards, sure, if your gonna play a lot of TES4:Oblivion or show off with the system it might be worth it, otherwise its better to wait and upgrade the card to a halfdecent one again in 2-3 years. Good luck with ordering now hope your ordering it from a place with good rep ^^ know of quite a few poeple that have gotten home Monday-issues when it comes to pc-hardware. that is hardware that dosnt preform close to as well as an exactly the same product that isnt a monday-issue. Cheers //Sim

Ive had a few, first i worked black in a cafeteria but that was only for a weekend filling in for a friend. Then i worked an entire summer at Swedens biggest Marina, both in the convinient store and at the petrol station(for boats), liked the petrol station better, didnt have to know all the prices on bread and buns that way, just icecream and petrol ^^ Now im employed by a company that deals out the local newspapers Metro, but i dont work atm since its too cold. Hoping to get an indoors job at one of the closer hotel/swimingpool/fitness place. Cleaing or the like, just because the winters are way to cold for lil me to be standing out in the snow giving newspapers to people that are to lazy to pick em up 2 meters away... For this summer im hoping to be repairing electrical equipment at my dads work, phonestations and the like, driving a car and everything ^^ Cheers //Sim

Alkaola has got a problem ( grahpic glitch)
xiziz replied to Alkaola's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Date: 2/21/2006 8:50:01 AM Author: Alkaola thanks for great advise both !! anyway i guess reinstalling my pc would be the best option .... pretty sad i never reinstalled my computer before so i don't know how to do it .... well ......quote> Its quite common that pople belive that its hard, though its very, very simple. First, if possible make a cd with all your existing drivers, the newest ATI-Drivers, and especially those that lets you connect to the internet(Modem/ethernet(Network card)) sound cards and whatever, mightaswell install the newest ones from the beggining right? Just go to the different manufaturers sites and download. Place the cdrom(Windows xp or whatever) in the cd-drive and restart the computer, e message will ask you if you want to boot from the cd, just pres any key to do this. Next it will load a gizilloin files, and start asking which partition you want to have windows on, you will want to delete the existing partition and create a new one(to make sure the bugs will dissapear). Then it tis basicly just to follow instructions and write the serial in when promted. it will be going in no time at all. Remember to read the onscreen instructions, especialy since it tis your first time. Exept for the licence agreement then... thats just way to long for anyone to read... and will probably take a fast reader 2-3 hours ^^ Reinstalling is also the perfect time to reorganise the computer and it will run a lot faster. also be sure to install Anti-Virus quickly, right after your done with the drivers. Avast is a good scanner that you can get for free. Just gimme a PM if you want any more help ^^ Cheers //Sim
