  1. Capitalism versus Socialism

I don't think we can calculate what will happen correctly. There hasn't been anything exactly like this in the past: A global degradation of the economic system influenced by moral standards (or more the lack thereof). I don;t like to theorize about this either as there are just too many factors, concepts and points of view to actually come up with something concrete.

    Thanks!
  4. Capitalism versus Socialism

True, receycling costs a lot of power too. Strangely there hasn't been a middle road for this subject... yet.
  5. Capitalism versus Socialism

If you look 1 or 2 pages back, there are some vids in my posts that might offer at least 1 solution to the problem if people are willing to accept it. Thing is, as long as people mindlessly refuse to take responsibility for contributing to the situation by, for example, mass consuming among things. Keeping yourself in check has sadly been a dying concept the last couple of years.
  6. Capitalism versus Socialism

Capitalism will never die as long as there are greedy people out there that can satisfy their greediness without limits. BUt more people do seem to step out of that way of thinking. .........and I just happened to watch this:
  7. What do you build?

Here are pics of projects I did this year. First a steamlocomotive with passenger car out of k'nex (pics r 2 big and I'm 2 tired to make them smaller: Earlier this year I tried making a scenario based on Dubai in Rollercoaster Tycoon. The projects was scrapped because of lukewarm motivation and enthousiasm on both my side and the RTC forums: The monorail acts as subway in the park. It looked real cool.

If it wasn't real it was you watched too much Ghost Hunters I remember once I saw a silhouette of a man standing in my doorframe to my bedroom at night. He walked off. I forgot to list that one. Ever since I thought my house is haunted. I still do. quote> Ghost Hunters? Never heard of that. Sounds like something I'd never watch. I'm not into horror at-all. The thing is, I'm a very down to earth guy. IN the morning I checked if something else could have been the reason for seeing the silhouette. But nothing in my room could ever explain the shape and figure or even me seeing the face of that person. The piano is also left unexplained as I was staying in a cottage park with no place for a piano to be anywhere. I'm also sure there were no tv's left on anywhere as it sounded like the piano was being played right next to me.

yuck, I never liked the microwave as cooking appliance. Something about the idea that the food's form of existence is being unnaturally modified just irks me. Heck, you can even get raw meat done in a microwave. *shudders*

As I think about it. many of the soft-ripened cheeses might work, as would most blue cheeses, except, probably Danish blue which gives me a violent headache. Was the suggestion a cheese fondue with chocolate to dip or sprinkle on the bread, or a chocolate fondue with cheese as the dipping object? Or did they just combine them in the recipe. I made Turkey mole once. Basically a steamed turkey with a chocolate sauce. It was very nice. A lot of chocolate is used in real Mexican cooking. They have a lot of dishes with the mole designation which means with chocolate in the sauce. Did you see my death by chocolate pancakes, earlier in the thread? The only change I would make would be to spread them at the end with chocolate ice cream. Some people think death by chocolate is possible, but I have to tell you that chocolate has absolutely no food value whatever. It just tastes great. Something like mushrooms, its what you put with them that gets you. Oh, and do be careful with chocolate around dogs. Theobromine, the main thing in chocolate, is poisonous to dogs. They get high, but if they get too much, they die. quote> They made belgian chocolates with it. It was a very intresting concept. I've seen various interesting programs go by on travel&living if I'm correct. There are cooks that reduce ingriedents to their basics. Basicly alchemy in the kitchen. Was very intruiging. Yeah, I did see the pancake recipy but I tend to be a pie lover when it comes to chocolate...altho my favs are sacher torte and swarzwalder torte And that Theobromine, it's dangerous for cats as well. I've found the Death by Chocolate recipe for those who like to drool. I made it a couple of years ago and I have to say that it's heavy on the stomache but man, is it good for the chocoholics. Ingredients 225 g of dark or extra dark chocolate, in pieces 115 g of butter 1,5 dl milk 225 g of sugarcane sugar 2 teaspoons of vanilla essance 2 eggs, split. 1,5 dl sour cream 225 g self-raising flour 1 teaspoon bakingpowder For the filling 4 dinnerspoons of sifted raspberry jam 4 dinnerspoons congac 400 gram dark or extra dark chocolate, in pieces 200 g butter Decoration 1 portion of chocolateganache chocolate curls(optional) cape gooseberries (don't know if this is the correct translation but w/e) (optional) Step 1. Preheat the oven at 180 Celsius. Grease up the cakeform/tin (it says here to do it with oil, but I find that rather questionable), that is 23cm across, and put baking paper over the bottom of the cakeform/tin. Put the chocolate, butter and milk in a pan and heat it on a low fire and keep stirring until you have a smooth substance. Then take the pan off the fire and add the sugar and vanilla essence and stir that through the chocolate mixture. Let it cool. Step 2. Mix the eggyolks with the sour cream and add it to the chocolate mixture and whisk it through it. Then sif the self-raising flower over the mixture and give it another good stir. Step 3. Beat the eggwhite until you have stiff peaks(?)/foam(?) and stir it through the chocolate mixture. Step 4. Put the chocolate mixture in the prepped tin and put it for 45 to 55 minutes in the oven. It should be right when you feel it's firm. After taking it out of the oven, let it cool off for about 15 minutes in the tin. After that, release the pie from the tin to let it cool off even further. Step 5. Cut the pie horizontaly in 3 evenly thick layers if possible. For the filling, heat the raspberry jam with 1 dinnerspoon congac in a small pan. Stir it, and devide it over the 3 layers and let it cool off. Put the rest of the congac with the chocolate and butter in a pan and heat it while stirring until you have a smooth mixture again. Let it cool off until the mixture starts to thicken. Step 6. Smear half of the thickening chocolate mixture over the bottom layer. Put the second layer on top of the bottom one and smear the rest of the thickening chocolate over it. Put the thrid layer on top and push it down slightly. Step 7. Let the pie rest until the filling has hardend. Smear the top and the sides with the chocolateganache. Decorate the cake with as much chocolate curls as you want and/or add some cape gooseberries.

A chocoholic? I don't think I should mention then that I have a 'death by chocolate' cake/pie/thing recipe lying around. I love how versatile chocolate is. It's even good with several cheeses because their atomic(?) build is similar. I got that from Discovery Channel WAAAAYYY back but I'm not a cheese fan so I haven't tried.

Aspartame isn 't the only additive worth worrying about. There is so many crap in food today, making it hard to avoid. Worst of all, cheap food tends to have more in them so if you can't afford healthy food... I got this tiny pocket sized book that lists about 1000 additives that are supposed to be 'okay for human consumption' according to the EU. Yet, 95% is listed in Red, which means avoid as much as possible. But hey, I guess it's always funny to see butter with anti-freeze as additive....

My personal fav combo is pancakes with warm cherries and whipped cream. *drools over keyboard* I'd say use your imagination, it's THAT versatile. Just be careful with the amount of sugar you put in the batter.

=O Lady Fingers? Couldn't come up with a correct name. We dutch just call it 'Long Fingers' so the assumption is quickly made. I believe that ladyfingers is what I use.Yes, they are G-R-E-A-T for the Tiramisu. I'm curious as to what your findings will be if you make it.

Oooh, a cooking thread! <3 Can I contribute? I've got this E-Z, drool-worthy Tiramisu recipe that does not involve eggs. =O ...mostly because I've not seen the need for it. Although I've found that like as with everything, Tiramisu can be made in a million ways, this just happens to be the one I've found to be easy and quick. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This recipe is for about 6 to 8 people. Ingredients 500 gram Mascarpone at room temperature. 2 teaspoons of Vanilla Extract 2 dinner spoons of sugar 2 small cups of strong regular coffee 2 Dinner spoons of cacao powder 4 Dinner spoons of coffee liqueur like Tia Maria or Disarono. Cookies like prescuto or ammeretto. Although if you can find a bland, neutral cookie that can soak moisture without immediately falling apart, that will most likely do to as it will give you more bite. This is something I've experimented with a lot. I've found my ideal cookie, but I doubt it's found anywhere else in the world. Other stuff you need 2 bowls for preparation something like a cake form to put build the tiramisu layer or layers in. Step 1: Put the sugar and the Vanilla extract together in a bowl and mix it. Then pour the Mascarpone, which should be soft when it's at room temperature, and stir the sugar with vanilla extract through it really well until you have 1 smooth texture. Step 2: Pour the coffee in the other bowl. Add the cacao powder and whisk it through. Add the coffee liquor and mix it again. Step 3: Soak the cookies slightly in the coffee mixture. Then, put them as the first layer on the bottom of the cake-form or whatever you have. For the second layer, you take some of the Mascarpone, and devide it over the layer of cookies. Repeat this process if you want multiple layers or until you run out of Mascarpone. You will however, always have some coffee/liquor/cacao mixture left over.
