  1. demand down the drain

oh i do have bus and subways at every corner. i use 6x6's EVERYWHERE. and i have that bus/subway station modd and each one has over 5000 users. i mean, i make over 30,000 on mass transit and ppl do use it. but i will try to remove the country club and other rewards! thanks guys!
  2. demand down the drain

mostly green, except for some monorail lines, the country club, and some random patches of red.
  3. demand down the drain

So here's another example of demand just plummetting. joabezscratch: I have the Air Purifier Lot and that has been stabilizing population ever since I've gotten it. My hospitals and school buildings are great as well. It could be a new plug-in ... I've been downloading some transportation ones, such as an all in one metro station. And is it unusual to be making like $50,000+ each month? I dunno, but my cities are beginning to act strange .... maybe I should get rid of some plug-ins. Sigh.
  4. My residents' average income is about 25k

i dunno, but my average residential income fell from like 100k to 20k as well. i have about 1 million residents, 400,000+ commercial jobs and etc. i've asked this before, but no one really gave me an answer. but someone did say that it really didnt matter. i've always thought that it was interesting these ppl werent making as much as i thought they were since they were so educated and what not. but i dunno, i think its just for your information and unless your demand is falling dramatically like mine, than i guess its not much of an issue, or a factor to look at.
  5. city layouts

northsider1983: that's exactly how i feel. i feel like everything should belong in a grid. otherwise i feel like its out of control. maybe my new cities will have a mixture of grids and randomness. b/c im from seattle, and there's grids everywhere, then there's random streets that just cut across for no reason at all. snickn: i agree with you as well. there are many grids in seattle, but then they are varied. for example, some commercial grids may be larger than residential grids, or just depends on where the grid will be located. like tin the downtown area maybe grids may be more closers together while the residential ones in the suburbs can be bigger. t_co: thanks!
  6. demand down the drain

well, i still have empty zones with not much development. so i dunno. and it is yes for all those. hmm. maybe ill just let the game play on for a while.
  7. STEX suggestions

Just wondering if you guys had any suggestions (and links) to what lots I should get from STEX to ease my overcrowded mass transit system. I already have the Imperial Bus Station, and the capacity is 10,000 and currently they are all used over 100%. I also have this monorail/subway/bus stop stations that are also overused. So, I'm looking for higher capacities train stations and subway stations. If you guys could suggest anything, it'd be great! Thanks!
  8. Whats the best way to attract hi-wealth

make sure your residents that educated well. that means no overcrowded elementary or high schools. libraries and museums. then hospital coverage should be good as well. also pollution needs to be low. also, make sure there is a good transportation infrastructure in place for sims to travel b/t work and home. maybe expand and improve your mass transit system. then with highly educated sims, you get high demand for IHT. and then for commercial, i think just low pollution, high traffic areas, and some parks and plazas.
  9. city layouts

t_co: very interesting. i tend to do the same things, except i keep the square blocks without the winding streets within each block. that is a good idea though. and i also do the same thing with city services and putting them in those squares. i find them convenient. i also like to put a bus stop and subway station and each ne corner or so. oh what is that japanese school you're using? where did you find it on STEX? Cobhris96: i totally agree with that. once you get that city center with w/e layout it is much easier to expand outward and you can usually be more creative once you have the financial stability. but very interesting! thanks guys!
  10. Problem with a river

most of my cities have some form of water in them, because i like to either bisect them by a river or have them connected with a ferry. anyways, even in my most dense cities, ill have this patch of nothing and then add some commercial when demand skyrocketing. well, buildings will develop but not the high rises, but those dinky things with "no workers". what i've always done is to add some residential closeby, which seems to always fix the issue. otherwise, i put alot of mass transit closeby or a rewards building. parks and flower gardens help increase the land value and maybe demand and workers ...
  11. City Name Database

region is julianopolis (after my name) cities: meridian port, diamante, interurban, scranton, matthias, torrence ridge, delport-elmira, victorville, bradford, woodland hills
  12. Help! I need MiracleGro for my cities!

do you believe in downloading modds and stuff like that? i just came back playing SC4 from a long hiatus (because of school) and discovered that you can dL all these BATs and such. but even before that, i've had successful cities. im not sure why you dont have any commercial or industrial demand. i agree with sqakee. maybe build more schools and such and make sure health coverage is good. maybe dL something called the air purification plant from STEX that gets rid of pollution. maybe improve mass transit so sims that get around to their jobs easier. and if it all fails, well there's always the next city ... lol.
  13. Highest Populations

my region is made up for 20 large cities and the largest city has a population of about 904,000. and my region population size is 4.67 million or so. i can never got above the 900,000 population mark, before residential demands begins to fall. i mean i have great mass transit, one of my bus stops was at like 3600% usage. and i have entire cities of IHT/IM. oh well.
  14. Please advice me...

uhm what kind of services were you talking about?
  15. Neighbor HT city

Zarp: I sort of agree with you that high wealth residents might not work in IHT zones, however, high wealth residents are usually those that are highly educated. High wealth people come in with there is good health coverage, and education coverage. I mean they can go work for commercial areas, but I've seen many work in IHT. But then does your statement mean that low wealth residents will work in IHT? I mean that can be answered yes, because they can be educated as well. Hmm. I'm confused now.
  16. Help - Can't stop pollution

well, if you dont want to do it the "easy" way, its trees and parks. but if you want to download this really great BAT(? - im still learning this jargon lol) from STEX, its called "air purification plant" and its had over 10,000 downloads. and i would recommend it, as a simcity player for about 5 years, from sc3000unlimited to now. and my region has over 4.6 million ppl and adding these purification plants help stabilize the populations (which are declining) and gets rid of pollution. and they look really cool. and they act as parks! oh, i just read all your message. how many purification plants do you have? you need more than one if you want to get rid of that red pollution. maybe four in each of the corners of your city. in my large one, with orangish pollution i definitely have more than 10 (at least).
  17. Is YOUR Plugins Folder Bulging?

i just started modding and adding things from STEX, even though i've had simcity 4 for like 2 years. it's pretty sad now that i think about. i keep thinking how great to have had this before. anyways, my plug-ins folder is about 25.1 mb. i always see some posting about something going wrong or not downloading too many things. so i've been pretty weeny about dLing more. hehe,
  18. So I think a lot of us have experienced this problem. For me, it's happened with the last three major cities I've built. So my residential populations seem to always reach 900,000, and then demand just shoots down, with thousands leaving in droves. I tried adding more industry in the neighboring city and in the city itself, but to no avail. I'm wondering if there is an issue or if anyone has any advice to deal with this issue. On a separate topic though, I recently added the Air Purification Park from STEX (which is amazing), and the residential demand bar is all the way down, but my population level seems to be level or barely diminishing. I'm wondering if that is a side effect of not having pollution all over and Sim want to stay in the city, despite low demand? Thanks!
  19. Non-Polluting Mono Rail?

Azerelus: yeah i know what you're talking about. there's some pollution with the monorail, but im sure its not that much. you could just go to STEX and get this air purification plant that'll get rid of most pollution in a general vicinity. otherwise, i think the pollution shouldnt hurt.
  20. Neighbor HT city

i've been able to develop a an all IHT/IM city. i mean im still in the hole about 4000 a month, but its catching up. i have alot of mass transit now that those workers are actually using which is helping to supplement my income. so i think it is possible. espcially if you take in trash as well like in the corner. even with all my parks/flower gardens to keep pollution, i think i can manage to sustain itself.
  21. I have a region of about 4.2 million people. I've been working on these two cities in my southern region for a while. One is all industry with alot of IHT and IM. The city next to it is residential and commercial. I've connected the cities with alot of rail and now monorail. The problem I'm having is with the overuse of bus stops. One of the bus stops by the neighbor connection is at 2365%, and there are 3 other bus stops in that area (like 2 tiles away!). So I'm not sure how to combat that. I know that it's good that people are using mass transit and that people are commuting, but seeing that number makes me worry. I mean service quality is certainly crap, but does the speed or the efficiency of the bus system get worse as well? I'm really not sure what to do. The residential/commercial city has about 900,000 residents and the industrial one has about 80,000 jobs. Thanks!
  22. mass transit in industrial zones

N_O_body: thanks, i will definitely check that out. extech: yes that is a very good point, sims are retarded that way. but i did put like 3 other bus stations around that corner and the sims still used them. but they were still over capacity at like 110%. i guess they are just stupid. but im going to try a larger station. palpatine: thanks for your advice as well, ill look it up. so are things on STEX modds? sorry, i've been playing simcity for a LONG time, but am just getting into the modd stuff and all this other customizations you can do with simcity. and im attaching a picture. the bus stop in question is circled in red. then there are two others on that street which are at like 100% or more. so yeah ... thanks though! EDIT: the one across the street is actually at like 1360% and then the train station there is at 980%. lol. stupid sims.
  23. mass transit in industrial zones

well i already have a bunch of connections b/t the city, but they seem to like this one particular avenue and all the train and bus stops on it. i mean i could add more bus stops along the edge of the city. but i think ill let it go for a while, i mean at least people are using mass transit in an industrial park
  24. mass transit in industrial zones

how did you make custom capacities? is that a modd?
  25. Planning: Zoning Help

ohhhh i thought you wanted grid ideas. yeah at one point in the game i got away from the grid, but saw with simcity and not using any cheats or like NAM i would need to do the grid to help with traffic and stuff. i mean its "somewhat" realistic in the big cities and suburbs, but not for all cities.
