I decided to not implement the usage of any new mods, with the exception of the network addon mod. I've been working on the city quite a bit lately trying to figure out why most of my demand hit negative. Today I found out the problem was a combination of two things. First off some of the new downtown office towers were providing such a large demand relief, that it made most of my commercial demand hit -6000. The other problem was the very small percentage of high wealth residents, which are the ones that push high wealth commecial office demand up. I worked today on increasing the overall high wealth population in downtown from about 10k to 22k, and that seems to have fixed the overall demand problem. Now i have all my commecial zones in the positive, as well as lower and middle wealth residential demand. I'll probably post a newspaper update this weekend sometime. Update Status: I know it's been a while since my last update, and the past updates have been far and few. I've been real busy lately, working a lot of hours, so it's difficult to find the time and have the energy for constant updates. i'll still be posting updates on this journal, but in light of time constraints I am going to be trying some new things to changing my playing style some to get the most out of this city. First off, i am going to be accelerating the growth of the city as much as I possibly can, the use of the no-abandonment and other mods designed to accelerate city growth I'll probably be using. I'll still try and keep the city growth in terms of real life applications as realistic as possible, once I reach 750k I'll be working deligently on the process of hitting 1 million, and getting Crystal Junction to major city status. As far as updates go, they will be fewer and possibly far in between. I will say that I am going to be doing a special update once the city reaches 1 million, which will be like an update several months back when Crystal Junction hit 250k. Mainly city maps, and other graphics type stuff. Once the summer ends, I'll probably have more time to work on this and posts will be more frequent. - shark.

I feel that them being removed wasn't just since your own post said off-site pics greater then the maxium allowed size are acceptable since they aren't using simtropolis bandwidth. Now if i misread what you typed here above, i do appoligize and won't press the matter, but I would like an offical word as to whether images larger thenj 800x600 are ok if they are posted off-site.

Clearly I was unaware that this rule applied to imaged hosted offsite since i posted pics on here off site and no on ever removed them that were larger then the specified size din this fourm, not to mention the way the rules are setup in the pic hosting guidelines, kept givening me the impression that they only applied to on-site hosted pics. I'd appreciate that being listed in the guideline section with the words, Including off-site hosted pics. Your region is very nicely developed; glad I was an insperation. It is well planed and laid out. Good story behind it as well, not to mention I like your use of low density, and a proportionate number of freeways to the city size. I wouldn't mind seeing a trasnportation map as well. Good Work.

City Update 21.2: Crystal Junction is very quickly approaching major city status. The population is now just above 600,000, and the urban sprawl is increasing to the north and east. The city is starting to standardize its power and water grids, as well as the recent completion of Freeway 248 in the northwest. The city's downtown area is booming, and inner city population and commercial jobs are sky rocketing. There isnt any rail running into Sandy Ridge due to the rail network only linking major metropolotin areas, as opposed to towns, like in the us and other countries. The designed of the transportation network on Frontier Point only links major cities and indusrail centers. Bartsimpson64: I have a lot of commercial zones outside of downtown, in fact nearly 2/3s of all jobs are provided by commercial strip malls located along major roads and avenues. There are also sub-downtowns located arround the city as well, which provide a centralized job relief. I'll try and post some rci pics, as well as some traffic pics soon.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. As far as suggestions go. Yes there will be some highway work on the ciy soon. There is a plan to extend Freeway 248 to the west, As far as other developments go, I'll probably not be focusing primarily on commercial growth in downtown, as well as developing surronding areas, at least until the population reaches about 3 quarter million. City Update 21: Crystal Junction is starting to settle into it's mid-sized city status. Numerous downtown office and condo construction continues, and the suburbs keep spreading. Most of the growth is rather even placed outward in all direction, however, there is an increasing growth in areas to the mid north of the city, as prime real estate develops there. Already a second mall has been construction, Madrid Square and there are plans to build a thrid one in the west metro area. More areas of planned to be zonned with high density. Construction projects continue to grow all over the city as well, not just in downtown areas. Smaller commercial sub-downtowns are now being constructed in the suburbs to meet job demands and provide shorter commute routes as well. The growth of Crystal Junction is now starting to spread into surronding towns as more and more people move out of the city to seek a quieter small town life, while still commuting to work in the city. Sandy Ridge has become the prime area for this migration. Sandy Ridge has already hit the 18,000 mark in population, making it a rather large indepedent population area outside of Crystal Junction. A simular occurace is occuring in old town Madrid and Tucson, and Topaz Heights is starting to expand as well. I know you guys have been waiting a while for an update, and I havn't let this journal die. Just there really isnt much new, since most of the growth right now is suburban expansion, that pretty much looks the same. But I am developing the region. New update sometime this week or weekend.

The 248 nub in Graffton is going to be where the second 248 project will take place. The intersection of 248 with Freeway 48 was designed in anticipation of such a project, so that when an extension took place, all that would have to be changed would be the signs. The project is still probably 30 to 50 years down the road for Crystal Junction. The city is mostly expanding in a radial pattern outward, and growing upward downtown fast, however growth in the north has been rather slow. Sandy Ridge is starting to grow faster with over 11,000 residents already. The Sandstorm expressway in Sandy Ridge was also designed to be convereted to a freeway so no in infrastructure would have to be relocated.

Yeah it is the desert mod. I've never had any probs with it.

City Update 20: Crystal Junction is now a moderate sized city with just over one half million residents. Downtown is started to quickly grow upward with a definte skyline already developing. Urban srpawl outward continues, even though now it is now more growing outward evenly in all directions. Downtown is where the largest population growth is now centered. Possible plans to extend Freeway 248 are in the works, as well as developing more high density commercial construction in downtown, as well as Sandy Ridge starting to grow as well. There are no plans for a subway system to be installed, and with the way the topography of the city is, it will probably be impractical since there would be no way to link the south and the north sides of the city. But an elevated rail is a possiblity, and there will be a monorail system set up since all the major cities will be linked by monorail. Thanks for all the compliments guys.

Welcome To Downtown Crystal Junction! I know a lot of you have been waiting for months now as I slowly developed this regional like a real life growing city. Well now the time as come to show you the young and developing Crystal Junction Skyline, and all its newest skyscrapers. The City is now at a size of about 425,000, large enough that it has an extensive amount of development in downtown, and the surronding area, including the construction of new towers, many new multi-story apartment buildings, new factories, avenues, and parks. Your_adress_here: I've had my Ridge Point region asked to join before, I would like to join, but i dont have the time to manage both a city, my large number of working hours a week and a soccer legaue thatmonkey sim: the track is the trail you see winding arround the edge of the park. i like to think of sc4 maps as being in miles rather then kilometers since it makes everything more realistic is scale. The trail straightened out is about the lenght of a small map or 1 mile. Everyone else: thanks for the compliments.
