It's POLL TIME! i need your opinion on whether I should abandon this and start on a city journal, which i want to start now because I'll have the entire summer to work on it. The reason i want to abandon this is because the city journal is going to be exactly like this, except MUCH larger scale. I want the CJ to be in the figures of say, 250 million? so if i want to be done with this by next summer, i should start now. so tell me people, abandon this and move to the CJ (which I will start anyway when finished with this) (and finally, this is in the game experiments, which means i was experimenting with population and such.)
  2. New Haven

WOW 40 million sims! i'm working on a 64 tile region, right now it's at 6 million, i might try something this big after i get done with my current one! if you want to check out mine its in city experiments in a thread called supermassive city. check it out and again, nice work
  3. supermassive city

oh, no way! i tried the anti dilapidation mod, but i didn't like it because it stopped skyscrapers from growing well
  4. supermassive city

this is all i have right now:
  5. Battlefront Zanapolis | SciFi BAT plant

    thanks, that worked
  6. Battlefront Zanapolis | SciFi BAT plant

@ last response: okay, sorry, i thought you were making fun of my game experiment/CJ, which is a "super massive" city (thats the name of the thread), and since that pic bared some resemblance to my city, i thought you were making fun of meh. again, sorry for the mixup. and i can't access your site, i get page not found/forbidden. i really want to download the ATEX and Japanese skyscrapers
  7. Rural Wal Mart

nice, you should maybe put better textures on the roof, though, it looks like a wall
  8. how come people haven't figured out how to plop residential?
  9. The Report of the Death of Simcity 4

    i don't know, it depends if SC5 makes a jump from SC4 like SC4 did from SC3.
  10. supermassive city

just a quick update, pop is at 5.5 million. working on it a bit tonight maybeh
  11. I thought, man this looks like roller coaster tycoon, and after looking at it a bit further, it seemed that all buildings were very old style, which means no sprawling downtown. And on top of that, no landscape, all flat, which takes away the fun of building coasts or in the mountains and finally, the graphics look cartoony, which probably means no user made content. (besides, if there was, it would horrible [sharp against light and cartoony]) i also hope that it does not turn into a mere society simulator. And my final wish it that someone give will wright a cold slap in the face for giving the game TM, which, if it goes through, will probably drop a nuke on the Sim City fanbase
  12. i like smicity 4, because of the vast amount of user created buildings and modifications to the game you can download. but simcity 3 unl. comes close because i played it for years as a kid, and it was just a great game

@ last update: Thats just mean. i may not make the best cities but you don't need to call me a *****
  16. Battlefront Zanapolis | SciFi BAT plant

Ah, Beautiful! could you please PM a list of some of the taller buildings (empire state building-sky2222 tower in height) i'm working on a Massive urban city like this one, and I'm really in need of some taller buildings to give the region some edge. and if you wish to check out my semi-CJ/experiment it can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=38&threadid=89003&STARTPAGE=1 thanks, and good job, this is a great city journal -Sirris
  17. supermassive city

thanks, i'll check that out anyway, my population just hit 5.1 million, twice the size of brooklyn and the size of brooklyn and queens together. and i might request this to be moved to CJs, i haven't decided yet, but if you're following this and loose it in game experiments then it'll be in CJ's

(tallest futuristic building in screenie: )
  19. supermassive city

scififan68: thanks i was hoping that it was would look good, i like how it turned out, however, i don't know if i should try the nephlon arista maxima (or whatever you call that starwars super skyscraper) i might see how it looks, however i can honestly see it turning out not that great. godzillaman: it's summer, so that's what i'm planning on doing
  20. supermassive city

well, new update and the highly requested transportation map:
  21. to prompt the game to use more STEX stuff and less maxis stuff?
  22. supermassive city

trust me, no it wouldn't. you would see 2 highways, and a spiderweb of roads. it's not that interesting, especially because transportation is my biggest problem right now
  23. supermassive city

I Have no idea let's just say it takes forever to navigate a fully developed large city. but other than that, it takes about 2-3 seconds for buildings to render when scrolling around
  24. supermassive city

bah, this is more of a giant experiment, seeing what works and what doesn't. anyway, pops at 4.3 and let me say this before i make a thread about it: PARKS FTW if you dezone one block that isn't necessarily very important (i.e. no skyscrapers or high wealth buildings) and fill it with parks, all buildings around it, if the conditions are right, will almost always go to higher capacity residential buildings (condos) the only problem is that after i used parks, residential hit rock bottom demand with 2 years. i don't know if they're related, but it is nearly impossible to get it back up, so build all of your residential, let it grow into low-medium wealth apartments and then dezone a block and plop some parks and watch the buildings grow
