Alright, here we are. I just have a nice little update on Coralville. Not the regional overview i promised, but that will come next time for sure. Coralville has now pushed over 200,000 residents, which is about the only major news i have to report. Check out the pictures and their captions for more details. Here we have what the residents refer to as the twin towers. They barely pass for middle wealth dwellings. The city, in its current state, is considering demolishing all of the riverfront buildings to make room for an amusement park/beach front resort. It is still in the early planning; if to even happen at all. Located here, just off Admiral Avenue, is the 5-story tall statue of the mayor, Coralville's most popular hotel, The Omni, and the Coralville Chameleons soccer team home field. Many of the city's old fashioned apartment complexes are being overtaken by more modern, and study structures. Here is wall street named for its skyscraping buildings virtually forming a wall. This is a recent development project that was uptaken by the city's vast architecture team. One of the more beautiful parts in the entire region. The majority of non-downtown residential is extremely rich like this. Another architectural masterpiece by the city's team. And finally, we have the main focus of the downtown, the I-80 bridge (the I-74/I-80 interchange is west of the bridge). The marina is a favorite gathering spot on Sunday afternoons. Enjoy Leave a comment also!

Good job. quote> Again, i disagree with you. this is much better than Dolfans CJ. TJD has done an absolutely amazing job of recreating Northamericas northernmost metro of over 1 million, and after 27 pages, it shows. This is one of the best CJs out there. quote> NOw come on....ive only just started mine He can have a favorite, its fine with me

Date:12/13/2004 12:18:18 AM Author:vidioman Nick, dont bash cooper Simsite hosting is supposed to have a city exchange, if you ask nicely, maybe dolfan would upload the region for you For ugly sprawl, this is a prety good CJ. it's looking good, especially the CBD along the river. you should work on the subur-rural transition, though, they just kind of end. If you can improive that, the realism factor would go up quote> I realize sub-rural transition is the one thing i lack badly. I am going to start looking heavily through city journals soon to see how the best of the best do it

Thanks again for the wonderful comments everyone. My whole vision started out as urban sprawl, with metro areas spaced in key landform areas of the region, and its working pretty well so far. No major traffic problems, except in one of the downtown avenues. I built a subway system to counteract this, with main lines runnin through downtown, and a couple to the industrial park. I have topped out demand for R$ and R$$ and about halfway for R$$$, commercial is skyrocketing, and industrial demand is not that great, considering the new construction in Coralville. Urban sprawl =

Thanks for the comments everyone It really makes doing a CJ worthwhile. Mexicanboy - I would have traffic and shadows turned on, however, i play it on the 1280x960 resolution setting; in addition to all the trees contained in the cities, it makes it hard to play at the speed i play when working on it. Its not bad, its just i hate having to wait for the lag to clear out. Im thinking about changing to 1024x768 res and turning on shadows and traffic now that you mentioned it. We will see though

Hello again everyone Im back for another of my few, and far between updates on Apex Valley. This update is focused almost completely on the 3rd established city, Coralville. From the second it was established, it exploded to a population of about 40,000, consisting of only single family homes. Now it has a sprawling downtown, and is pushing 175,000 residents. Heres a nice picture of the downtown area as it looks today. New subway systems were installed all around the downtown area, and also in the northwestern industrial park to handle all of the traffic. The city council decided that the current roads system was insufficient; carrying 10,000 people throughout downtown, which caused major backups. A view looking straight down the Ruccotun River. On the eastern bank is the new construction, barely 5 years old. Here we have the western river bank, showing where construction had begun more than 53 years ago. Behind it, you see Interstate-74. It currently handles more than 17,000 cars and buses daily. That number had been over 24,000 before the forced construction of the city's extensive subway system, which was a $77,000,000 investment. It is paying for itself however, as citizens can now get to work more efficiently. Here we have the first skyscraper allowed to be built near the Ruccotun River. Its designer, Rucco, fought for many years to get the city to allow skyscrapers to be built near the river. A time ago, before much was here, it had been decided by the mayor that no skybuildings as he called them, would be built near the city's pretigious river. Rucco took it to the courts, where after 9 months, it was overturned. There are also plans currently in the making on a hydro-electric dam, to rid the city of its current power source. Finally, we have the sprawling image of the city as it currently stands. As you can tell, 'Project River Reversal has not completed itself, as there is much ground still left north of the bridge. Two companies have put in bids on the land, to build condominiums, and another to build highrises. Please leave a comment!
