Has anyone else had scoliosis correction surgery?

On Dec 19, 2005 I underwent surgery for my scoliosis (when your back is not straight, for instance a normal back looks like this |....my back looked like this )...)

Recovery has been going great, I'm doing things 4 weeks post-op that many people cant do 6 months post op (completely dress, socks, shoes, bending, etc)

I was wondering who else has gone through a similar circumstance?  If so, how're you recovering (or have recovered..)?

No one I know has actually had surgery for it, but my Cousin has rapid-progressing scoliosis, which is extemely rare. It was last year, and they decided to wait a couple months before getting a back brace untill the start of summer. If I remember correctly, in those few months his spine arch almost doubled.

He is still in the brace, and may need surgery later down the road, but as of yet he hasn't gotten any.

I remember growing up and everyone used to say I'd get it do to my bad posture and my tallness at a very young age...

I grew like a weed and even after a while I started to think I was getting it due to my constant back pain...I'm a chronic sufferer of back pain....but even when the schools tested for it I never had anyone say anything was wrong....

I consider myself lucky and I feel sorry for any soul that must have an opperation to fix something they have little control over...

I hope you feel better soon!

To be honest, I've never heard of that kind of problem. Glad you're recovering well, though!

Yes, I have heard of scoliosis, and it seems rather nasty. I think the people that have their backs bent sideways are the worst off. It just seems to be more awkward that way.

I'm glad to hear you've recovered without complications. 19.gif I'm sure this experience makes you appreciate your back all the more.
*pats self on back appreciatively*
