Hello everybody! I've stopped batting for almost a year now so please bare with me as it may take some time to produce some buildings that are up to par.

Some of you might know me from SimCity Central, but i've chosen to spend most of time here from now on since it's more active and more Simcityish... but i'll hang out there too. Anyways, here are some of my buildings:


Introducing...


This special series will feature all sorts of retail stores across Canada. Expect stores such as Canadian Tire, Zellers, Future Shop, The Bay and more!

Canadian Tire: This store is a well known hardware-tool + automotive store in Canada. Infact, almost every city has one. This one is also up on the exchange right now.



Other Buildings:

Country Store; I made this for some of my more rural towns and settings, and it was also a test building to see if I could still B.A.T. It's also up on the exchange right now by the way.



I also had two very old buildings, A subway and a wendy's which are somewhere way back on the exchange.

Anyways, I hope everyone will enjoy my buildings and I'll be sure to stick around for a while now.

P.S. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

Fantastic! I know Simgoober has created a Best Buy and a Borders book store, maybe you could work with him to transform them into Future Shop and Chapters? (Although Best Buy is moving into Canada now after buying Future Shop anyway...)

I've been working on a Future Shop and here's what i've come up with so far...If everyone likes it i'll just fix a few things and upload it.

I really like your texture for the roof.  What I reccomend is adding roof junk and changing the textures for the Future Shop sign and the posts that hold it up.  They don't really look realistic right now.  Other than that, great job!

 

This is gonna sound real picky, but on the upper left side of the lot, for the overlay texture you have there, you should make it a curved right angle instead of a T.

not to get too off topic... but Future Shop was bought out by Circut City, so it's technically no longer canadian... Best Buy moved into Canada because of Circut City's buyout because they are one of Circut City's biggest competitors. Great looking Canadian Tire and Future shop models... I haven't downloaded the Canadian Tire model yet, but is there a service bay entrace too? same with Future Shop... they have a service bay door to drive your into to have your stereos and/or remote car starters installed on location.

Whoa! 'Canadiana' (contrary to Americana ) !
You have some god looking projects comming along, as these vary though, the representation of the stores differs one-another...
One thing that I am looking forward to is a super-Tim Horton that you can find in my city: two stories of pure, Canada downtown , if you are planning on making one
Though, it would be nice to make some variations of your Canadian Tire, as we have 3 ones across my city, one with all-English signs, one bilingual and one entirely in French aswell... So just small variations for our SimCities aswell...
I need to get out the BAT on a test-run sooner or later, and maybe try to add to this fabulous and very promising collection. One thing though: Are you planning to create more Canadian-style BATs aswell, maybe some landmarks from Montr

This is the lamest reason in the universe to delurk... but anyway, I worked for Best Buy for a while, and I can promise you, without a doubt, that Best Buy owns Future Shop. The reason that there are Best Buys as well as Future Shops in Canada is that there were Best Buys before they bought FS and they finished out the stores under construction as well as new concept stores prior to moving over to a completely BB model. It is inevitable that the FS stores will eventually be converted, but not any time soon as they are identifiable as Canadian (to those who might chose them over BB for that reason). Further, it takes a lot of time to move vendors over to BB and some FS stores still carry different product lines as a result. Look for Dynex, Insignia or Medion in a FS as a sign that BB holds sway.

At any rate... xtremegamer, I think your lots are excellent. It is kind've a result of modern architectural practices that the buildings look somewhat boring from above... I always prefer realism, anyway. More detailing is always good, but I try to avoid the art school practice of always saying more, bigger, bolder! during a critique. Keep up the good work - the more nationalistic structures we can add to the game the better, no matter the nation!

I was aware that yes, Best buy does own Future shop (as of about two years ago if I recall) but for this series, my aim is to create stores that can only be found in Canada or are special here in Canada. For example, just because Tim Horton's got bought out by Wendy's (I think it was wendy's) and it is therefore american, doesn't make it any less special to canada or any less of an icon.

Oh one more thing I forgot to mention, my next project will be Tim Horton's and I will begin work right away so look forward to that!

What a great idea! Canadian Lots! ! lol. Let's see Tim Hortons, Loblaws, Zellers/The Bay so much more! Keep up the great work!

Also for the future shop lot, I would recommend you change the blue sign plate to a aqua colour. That way it looks like the real thing.

Neato! We used to have Future Shops here in Oregon! Too bad they pulled out quite a number of years ago.

I like the Canada Retail theme. I miss going up there and now I'll be able to put a little bit more of Canada into my cities.

I don't know if my idea has been developed or not (as I am fairly new to this game and forum) but the Canadian store I would really like to see in the game is Tim Hortens.
