Installing downloaded files

Hi i'm new to this site and to simcity 4.  could someone explain to me how i would go about installing Lot files, BAT files etc into my game?

Welcome!

All those files you download from our site normally need to be installed to My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins.

You extract the download using Winzip,WinRAR etc. into your MyDocuments/SimCity4/Plugins folder OR Program Files/Maxis/SimCity4/Plugins folder and they should appear in game. If this doesn't work, the building you are trying to download must be a growable which means you have to zone some Residential, Commercial or Industrial zones and get to the required stage to make it grow OR it could be a reward which means you have to meet some requirements before you can use it in your city. If the building you downloaded comes with a ReadMe always read it as it contains useful information on how to get the building into the game. Hope this helps.  Welcome to Simtropolis!

Any BAT, Lot, or Mod you download should contain a README file in the zip. If it doesn't, don't bother installing it. If someone can't be bothered writing a readme, then they probably didn't take much care in doing the BAT or mod. It will more than likely mess up your game.

Welcome. You don't say, but we have to assume you have SC4 with RH or you have the Deluxe version.

Most of the lots on the STEX require these.

Be sure to test each new lot or mod in a sandbox region before you place it in your existing cities. You must be sure they work and are compatible with what your already have.
